I've been waiting on this one since day ONE. Can't wait! Editing to add my personal take on this: I was like Mike, lucky enough to see this movie in theaters before it was the talk of the town. Went in totally blind with one of my best friends and we laughed harder than we ever had before in our meager 12 years of existence for 90+ minutes straight. I've seen this movie so many times over the past 20 years that I could practically recite every line of dialogue from memory. Looking back on it as an adult who is slightly more aware of the process of making movies, I've fallen in love with it all over again knowing how small the budget was, and how they used rudimentary production techniques to capture an atmosphere that is so bland, so boring, so utterly midwest purgatory, that it left no choice but for the characters to completely fill the screen. Not to mention the simple, but heartwarming plot and John-Hughes level payoff at the end where everything works out for our hero. Napoleon Dynamite is my ultimate comfort movie, I put it on any time I need to be cheered up. It's sadly not everyone's cup of tea, but had it not been for the meteoric rise in pop culture and subsequent dampening from the wet-blanket 'overhyped' crowd (thanks a lot, AJ) I legitimately think this would be regarded extremely high as one of the better comedy movies of the 2000's. Then again, it's exactly my type of humor. Either way, I'm so glad you guys finally reviewed this one!
It took me a couple watches to get the comedy of this. My cousins and I watched this movie on dvd because he said I had to see it. I thought it was really stupid. I decided to give it another shot and it was like the veil was lifted. It’s so funny. Keep up the good work guys.
I was 8 when this came out and watched it every single day when I finally got it on DVD. It's one of those movies that burned in my brain. Haven't watched it a bunch in the last 10 or so years though. Still a good watch for nostalgia whenever I catch it.
This movie reminds me of how nerdy I was during my childhood (and still am). So many relatable things to look back and laugh at…. Just about every character reminds me of someone I know. Still makes me laugh every time I see it.
Great movie🤟🏻One of my favorite movies for sure! I see a lot of peoplw don't get the humor but if you grew up in a small town it makes a lot of sense😂😂. There was always that kid like Napoleon that did strange things or made exaggerations about their life to make themselves appear cool. Great stuff fellas!💚Edit:First and watching nowww!
There’s a reason they don’t get more views. It’s because they’re not selling out and they’re not making their channel all about profiting. They do this for the love of it.
This is probably thee most DRASTIC change nostalgically/modern a movie has ever had for me! When I first saw it I thought.. “This SUCKS!”…It was like the movie “Gummo” if it was a comedy. (Gummo being a movie so bad it made my stomach hurt..lol) I watched Napoleon Dynamite a few years later…and GOT IT. It has since become LEGENDARY for me…I quote it on a regular basis…It went from a 3.1…to a 9.3 for me…! Thanks guys for the awesome show..!
It's amazing how movies affect people differently. How something can strike a positive chord in someone, and then do the absolute opposite to others. This is in my Top Ten fave movies of all time -- yet SOOO many people fucking hate this film. I suspect because of the "hipster" effect. That is, when people you absolutely loathe and do not respect fall in love with something -- you, then have to disassociate from that thing. Because you CAN'T like something that those MFers also like.
did I miss who would Nicolas Cage play or did you guys forget to do it? my choice would be a toss up for either Rex or Uncle Rico - but since Jon Gries & Diedrich Bader did such great jobs in those roles I will go rogue and make the Nick Cage the wrestling action figure that Napoleon throws out of the bus in the opening scene and have him stalk Napoleon and his friends for the rest of eternity but since he's so small and had no one to pull him into town it will have to wait for the sequel
I listen to you on Spotify earlier but you know you can't leave a comment there but anyway I did not like this movie when it came out I was in high school everybody over hyped it I tried watching it one day and just couldn't get through it but my 13-year-old daughter loved the movie can we sat down and watch it and I won't lie I actually enjoyed it I see the jokes in it now and I'm thinking I was just jaded from high school never liked anything that everybody overlooked and yes this is voice to type
Hilarious movie. I just get grossed out at the sandwich’s & that drink they’re served when napoleon works on the farm & then during that FFA competition & he’s drinking the milk & you see it in his teeth. ( for some reason milk grosses me out I’ll gag if I smell it)
Shame this pod doesn’t get more views
The best part of the movie is when Uncle Rico randomly chucks the steak at Napoleon
55:56 AJs reaction to getting speed correct is so wholesome

Oh yes! Such a great movie, got to see this in theaters with my mom and brother. Absolute classic, and another great episode!
I want to see Pedro running for president against Tracy Flick from 'The Election'
