Everything you said was on point but the real reason why, is that it improves muscle memory when shooting. Also, the sleeve straightens the arm which reduces soreness.
I honestly where it to keep everything in place so I can better stay in form, and am less likely to throw something out. Idk it just feels like it helps that way
I also heard from players that the arm sleeve is something to keep shooters in routine of their jumper. The fact you can feel something on your arm can keep you in rememberance of your jumper
i thought they wore arm sleeves to protect themselves from scratches and sliding on the floor when they fall so it’d be smooth instead of a dry skid mark kinda like how they use headbands to prevent sweat from getting into their eyes
The arm sleeve has many unintended useful aspects but the actual intended use for it was to keep you arm warm during games but other players uses it for other reasons
People think leg sleeves and arm sleeves are only to look cool and sometimes that is the case, but I’ve worn leg sleeves playing in high school because after I dove for the ball, my knees got all scraped up. The leg sleeves do help to protect you from injury, arm sleeves are pretty uncomfortable to shoot with though.
My boss said it was to cover tattoos. I never looked it up. I always thought it was to protect your arms when you get hacked going to the basket. Guess I was really wrong about that one.

I know compression sleeves for my legs really help with my shin splints. Made it tolerable to run instead of feeling like nails were being driven into my legs.
Iverson wore them to his bruises cos he’d get beat up in the paint during the era he played (compression also adds blood to the area so they’d heal faster)
Look, I’m not a doctor or anything, but I’m almost 99% certain that compression doesn’t help blood flow, that doesn’t even make sense lol. Like a blood pressure cuff when it compresses your arm, you lose feeling in your arm due to the loss of blood flow being caused by said compression. Sounds like a bunch of bs😂
I wear an arm sleeve at work because I get periodic tennis elbow from loading and unloading heavy product. Saves me so much pain and tbh, looks kinda cool too 😂
Dwight Howard said he wore them bc dudes would scratch tf out of his arms when going for rebounds. Jokic should take note, dudes arms are always scratched tf up
I’ve heard friends of my dad who are all top class doctors in Greece and one in particular was an athlete doctor say that wearing sleeves is the easiest way to damage your body . It causes atrophy to the muscles in the arm that you are wearing it
Iverson didn't have an elbow injury. He had a huge boil that formed on his arm. It was drained and he wore the arm sleeve to cover it. He liked it and never stopped
The reason is that arm sleeves increases proprioception, so they 'feel' more where is positionned their arm in space. I'm a physiotherapist and recommend it to a lot of my patients during their rehab
I always thought some players wore them because of certain tattoos from their old hood or the nba not wanting to be misrepresented and that’s why they wore the sleeves to cover certain ink
