@@tomlusty8376 Thank you for correcting me .
Whats really messed up, is they can test and tune all the time.. but local drivers who offer to pay to rent tracks to test get told no.
Agreed
Have never had that problem. Most track owners won't turn down "free" money for a private test during a weekday.
I don't think Madden will be the only one this year
Dale McDowell said last July that this would be his last year .
Dillard also had hus late model at Mississippi Thunder
I think Albany Saratoga is shutting down for development, my home track…
i wonder why high limit didnt rescheduled for today??????
I think the simplicity of a sprint car compared to a Late model, is partially the reason they don't test with sprint cars.
They do test.
What’s your take on ALBANY SARATOGA SPEEDWAY BEING SOLD ?????
Having a wing on top really cancels out a lot chassis setup/suspension geometry advancements. Two opposing forces. Maybe on some of the short tracks you could work on some things. Wing racing is really about air and getting the engine package to the drivers liking.
The non wing cars and the midgets could learn a lot and I'm surprised at how little advancements there have been on the chassis of those cars. Watching the non wing cars at Knoxville it really stuck out to me. I guess I don't know if the rules constrain them but they could do a lot of things to give those cars more grip.
It’s simply Aero grip vs. Mechanical. Mechanical is going to constantly have innovation. Aero is much easier to control and easier limited by sanctioning bodies.
Gotta be careful with getting speed from aero though. It will create an aero dependency and then youll suck when you get to traffic. Its a fine balance
Hi : I really wonder why High limit did not try and race at davenport tonite? I 70 is friday. I would have made the 2hr 40 min drive today for sure. Now high limit is not within 5 hrs of me the rest of season! Just don't understand the logic.
They did try, rolled the track in, then started raining again
Its not as easy as saying "we're going to try again tomorrow".
It is weird considering all the issues some of the sprint car teams had with the new tires last year. But really how much has changed in sprint car racing in the past 10-15 yrs. Seems like there's a lot more technology and innovation in SLM racing. I'm just a couch racer though so what do it know.
Parnelli was great. Thanks for the mention.
RULES.......every time there is a new rule money is spent elsewhere to make up for rhe rule changes. Looks like they are startng a thicker rule book like NASCAR Nice show
Preach louder, brother! You've said what I've been thinking
Aero vs mechanical grip. There is so much more to the setup on a late model and significant gains can be made with setup changes. And with the ever changing rule book you are always looking to find the next speed secret before your competitors do. That is why late models test so much. What's really messed up is data acquisition is banned on race nights because it's "too expensive" but national teams can travel the country and test at tracks with their data acquisition systems weeks ahead of a tour race. How that isn't more expensive than a $5k data acquisition system... I have no idea.
They don't test cause sprint cars are cookie cutter cars...exactly the same brand to brand with same exact set ups...
All testing would do is put laps on $50,000 motor 😮😮😮
Testing in sprint cars is much less useful. Ran some data acquisition a couple years back in central PA and theres a lot to learn, but with how simple sprints are and flexible the chassis are, theres just not a whole lot of secret sauce. Geometry on LMs with the droop, 5th spring, etc just gives you so many more options to learn and try that testing is almost required unless you want to run the same basic setups as most local guys from the chassis manufacturers.
I hope Chris Madden races the Topless 100 in 2025.
I think most sprint car teams and drivers know the car always has more left and the driver is often at his limit. Making the car faster doesn't really help. Making the car more comfortable may help a little. Thats why kyles tenth in qualifying can win by seconds when the track slows down.
Hopefully Lawrenceburg speedway doesn't get rained out
If too much testing for top teams over small teams ever becomes an issue, just make it so drivers that are running full time series cannot run thise tests
Like this if Justin should be invited to the World 100 as a special guest for the broadcast!
Great show!
Who bought Eldora?
Tony Stewart. From Earl Baltes. In 2004.
Tony Stewart brought it off Earl Balmost 20 years a h o. No new since that I know we of.
Eldora announcement coming soon... Maybe
Have been told it's not true.
