Gestural drawing makes architecture look so interesting. Don't be aiming for an architectural drafting style, relax, have fun, and create a more interesting drawing.
I neither understand the fascination with imprecise and sloppy lines, nor the awkward yearning to call everything "gestural". Gesture is about capturing the mass and balance of the human body, the relation between joints, limbs and the main masses, head, chest and hip. Faces don't have gestures, plants don't have gestures, and houses don't have gestures.
I wouldn’t call my lines here sloppy and imprecise, but they look very different to if I’d used a drawing board and t-square and mapped everything in pencil before inking. While gesture is about what you say, it is also about what you say it’s not. It’s a way of drawing, a type of line work, and it can apply to any subject . But we can happily disagree on this, I hope, Stefan. 😀
@@stephentraversart Yes, we can. Just you aren't the only one throwing the word "gesture" around inflationary to mean stuff that just isn't gesture, and some people are even more ridiculous about it. If it can't gesticulate, then it doesn't have gesture!
