Pre-MTB XC Race Nutrition & Training

- Recently I have been asked a few times about what my training and nutrition looks like the day before a MTB XC race, so I thought I would bring you along for my pre-race day antics.
Carbing up and making sure my glycogen stores are full before the race is my top priority, in regards to nutrition. Training can massively vary depending on if the race is a goal/priority race. However, this weeks race isn't, so I decided to go out on the chain-gang and use these efforts as openers before race day.

Chocolate digestives from the fridge with tea...that's what I took away from this video :) Good to see how you look after your pre-race nutrition and nice to see real food rather than too many protein products, powders, gels and restricting calorie intake but you do need your coffee with cake though! - whatever it is, it seemed to have worked for the last southern XC! nice one G & Rocket
The winning fuel apparently 😂 I like to call it the lazy man diet… find food that take no effort to make and can be eaten straight away 😬 it certainly did work it must of been the bag of popcorn 🤷♂️😂

Top video, had me chuckling through the washing up, mans work, none of this cardboard folding malarkey you had to do😅. Deffo to fueling the week leading up to a race, also hydrate well too. Couple of things id add would be have a post race meal ready and also something for the day after a race. I'm terrible if i dont have meals ready as I'll eat anything if its not nailed down!😂

100% on hydration! It’s something I’m working on as sometimes I’m awful at staying hydrated 😬
Absolutely the post race and next day is killer for me… I tend to hit the chocolate cupboard hard which isn’t ideal 😂
Come on your forgot your main race food the almond croissant 😂this may mean Top Step 😊 the kitchen looks nice your working so hard when the Rocket just goes off to get her hair done 🫤 this could go towards a bike come on. OK good luck in the race, have a nice week and Rocket may need a Coffee and Cake 😎😎
Im disappointed that I didn’t get an almond croissant but I expect the best and where we went for coffee don’t do a good one 😬😂

How do you get the camera with the cadence, hr and speed on the display?
I use a software called garmin virb… you take the Strava file and link it up to your footage 👌

@@joekellner10 I have the software on my laptop not sure if there is an app but I use a GoPro and works with that 👌
Do you do any strength training for your road cycling or does your MTB do that
I strength trained through the winter but stopped recently due to a few things… will be getting back on it soon though 👌
