From D1 The Warrior is the Dark Wanderer, Blood Raven is the Rogue, and the Mad Summoner in Act 2 is the Sorceror. Just a little context for lore reasons that aren't explicitly explained.
I remember playing this game after school. Would tell my parents I was doing homework and play for hours on the dial up internet. Then my dad would yell at me to get off the internet because he needed the phone.
I remember seeing the original intro back in the day. The graphics was amazing for that time period. Never saw anything even close before. The full installation of the base game was 1.55Gb. Of that 560MB was the base game, if you upped it to 640MB you got multiplayer, but if you wanted to not change CDs between each act for the cinematics, that was the full 1.55MB or 910MB just for the few minutes of cinematics compared to 560 for a full single player game. My computer back then had a total of 20GB ROM, so I opted to change CDs between acts as I just didn't have room to spend that much of cinematics.
I'm in the same boat, never had a PC as a kid so I missed out, had a childhood friend who sung this game's praises so I've always known about it. Had these games been my first ARPGs instead of D3 well... I'd have fallen in love with the genre a long time ago instead of with Grim Dawn a couple years ago.
I used to play the original with Players set to 8 to make it harder and to get more experience and loot. It was a great time grinding and fighting through tot the end SO many times. Ahh the memories.
Wow ... can't believe I forgot how epic that beginning cinematic was ... brings back such awesome memories ... This is one of the better Diablos ... IMO ...
I used to play D2 classic back in 2001, D2R is so good , i love the graphics and the Terror zones Last season i played like 200h and made my first real Barb with Grief, found my fist Sur , my zerker has 560% mf Right now i'm farming the Council, a few days ago i found my first Mara amulet and Titan's , my goal is to find a Ber and Jah to make my first Enigma
I hadn't really remembered much of d1 even though I played it as a youngin. This is the pt I'm most excited for. I was in college and me and my friends intentionally set it up so our classes for the week ended on Thursdays and than would all group up in one of the guys dorm rooms (scandalous since i was the only girl) and than lan party playing diablo 2 for the whole rest of the weekend. Pyramids of soda cans and lots of junk food bags lol. Feels like a lifetime ago now that I'm 40 and lan is not really a thing anymore.
Played Paladin on my very first playthrough when the game came out, was such a mess of a character and with no respec available then I struggled through BUT I still loved every moment and would go on to put 10k+ hrs into the game between D2/LoD/MXL/PoD, remains my favorite game of all time.
This is the first game that I actually played through as a kid, my uncle just threw me in there, I remember having nightmares about the bloody poster just hanging by the wall with big ol' eyes staring at me. PS: Don't do legacy mode Cohh it's a bit to take in, and if you compare it to the original D2, the original actually looks better.
Wish ya didn't put the class choice up to a vote, because I knew it would be paladin. People only voted that for you because it's the most brokenly powerful class in the game,if built right. But you wont know how to build it so you might be in for a rough time. Rather you of picked one that interested you the most, but oh well here we go let the adventure begin.
There's also the fact that paladin isn't going to be in D4 so might as well do it now I guess. But yeah it's the basic boring class every meta chasing powergamer picks.
I can still remember downloading the open beta of the original D2 on dial-up back in 2000, it took like 16 hours and I had to leave it running overnight.
i wonder how much does he know about the lore...but.. spoiler alert the Warrior (Canonical Choice) is the Dark Wanderer aka Leah's father through Ada, the Summoner is the Sorcerer which you fight him at act 2, Blood Raven who is the original Rogue from Diablo 1
Also of note, the boy you see appear after you kill Diablo is Albrecht, the king's son, and the warrior is Aidan, the oldest son of the king. So the older brother went down below the cathedral to save his younger brother, only to have to kill him and then became possessed by and transformed into Diablo himself. And yes, after he came back up to the surface from killing Diablo, Adria cared for him until he was strong enough to journey onward.
@@erickchristensen746 LOL, I figured bud, but you'd be amazed at how many people are against controllers and don't think of anyone else. ON normal mode yeah, past that(actually anything past act 3 normal) thorns ended up being shit damage due to enemy HP scaling versus the damage they do. They tried to fix thorns in a buff update for Resurrected but it still didn't do much.
I believe he's the mad king leoric's (aka the skeleton king D3) second son, who went searching for his brother only to discover diablo in the cathedral of now fallen Tristram has taken over him. So he vanquished diablo and took his soul stone and put it in his head to make sure no one else would be taken by Diablo. Diablo 1 ended there but little did the prince aka the dark wanderer know was that the soul stone would corrupt him. Oh and then Adria from diablo 1 fucks the dark wanderer and in D3 and Leah Leoric is born incarnate of diablo. Don't ask me why.

No, I think I'll simply stop playing Diablo 2 after getting to Act 2 because of Runewords and The Horadic Cube. Recipes etc... Which are almost impossible to understand and it's not fun to mess with either.
Cohh also has terrible memory and can't recall much if any of the plot since it's been... I don't know how long for him, I'm sure someone in chat will ask.
