- Clint and Brady build our cattle panel hoop house, and this video shows the whole process from start to finish! You can watch the individual videos for a bit more of an in depth look, and to hear all of the fantastic jokes that got cut for time.

You guys did a much better job framing that up than most people on UA-cam doing these. Nice work.
Thx Random Stuff. We're trying to do a good job while learning and making mistakes. 😃
We were in the greenhouse business for 17 years and built several hoop houses , you might consider using wire that is used to secure rebar together instead of plastic zip ties. They are precut wires with a loop on each end, there is a hook tool that is used to twist the wire together, fast, economical and lasts as long as you want it to. Ties get brittle and bust after a year. Plus research wiggle wire to secure plastic, comes with aluminum c channel and wiggle wire, tremendous product, far better than batten boards that let plastic rip out at nail holes due to wind.
This is some great advice! We used wiggle wire on our actual permanent greenhouse and it’s great. Most of the zip ties on this build have already busted, so those metal ties definitely seem to be the way to go!
Everyone makes the same error: (me too) make everything Wider and Longer than the building. Always can make adjustments. Weed barrier should be at least 12 inches wider, overlap the cattle panels if they are too long. Zip ties are your friend. I ended up making a "porch" over the door to open out, and protect from snow, wind, and rain. Also made the rear a panel longer to cover the IBC totes for water storage. For storage I would use a waterproof tarp NOT greenhouse plastic. Guaranteed to tear! Stay on course!
We overlapped the panels and zip tied them together, but I suppose we could have overlapped them more. We’ve been very surprised and pleased with how well it’s held up in the storms and wind we get out here. We really needed to use more weed barrier in the green house, it all shrunk! We hope all your builds and projects are successful!
Weed barrier stops nothing just gives the weeds a nice place to grow that you cannot get too. ALWAYS USE patio pavers so they will heat up in the fall and winter to prove more heat. You're not stopping weeds.
Zip ties fail ~ grid panel connectors are a thing
Good point about the zip ties. They're all beginning to fail.
Great job mixing the 3 videos into one complete show of the building of the Cattle Panel Hoop House!! I really enjoyed it and learned a lot!!
Thank you Terri! I’m glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully even more people can learn from it too!
This came out really nice and you guys made it look so easy. We are starting ours in a few weeks I hope mine comes out just as nice.
Thanks Janice! I'm sure yours will turn out great. You can avoid all the mistakes we made!
Good Job
😂😅 you both are so funny 😊 really enjoyed 🎉 your video. Travel all over the states as a pilot car driver . Recognized your background hills and mountains.. then youu said Delta. NICE.. AGAIN THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT VIDEO. Getting ready to do mine this year. Very helpful.
Thanks Sheila! I'm glad to hear that. We try to have a good time and hope you will get something out of them at the same time. So you're going to be building a homestead as well?
Neat
What excellent tips for our green house. We have all ready built a duck house this way and is has not moved even in gust of wind approx 80k/h. We have a big tarp over it and it is tied down with nylon rope. Nothing moves.
It does seem to be a good way to build a structure like this. I've been amazed at how ours has held up. I'm curious where you are from. Simply because you used k/h instead of miles.
@@CastleFarmsHomestead I am from Australia.
That's awesome. Glad to know we're reaching you over there. It's exciting to here about others adventures. Are you building your greenhouse soon? We have recently finished our larger hoop house. I'm really excited about it. We have several videos on that process and will hopefully soon have a "complete build" video as well. I hope all is going well in the land down under. Thanks for watching.
Grinding tool comes in handy
Yes it is fast but I didn't have mine with me so I used the sawsall
I can confirm that it is a real bummer having to work an office job inside on nice days. I would rather be outside!
Maybe not these last few days though 🥵
Thank you for sharing the video. Where did you find the black strap material?
I got it on Amazon. It's called "Batten Tape" or batten straps. Thanks for watching.
Hog rings for connecting panels togather
That would be better than using the zip ties. We've already had several of the zip ties break. Thanks for the suggestion.
Do you have items used and cuts, please?
Can you please provide the cutting list?
Now that's an awesome CASTLE PANEL HOOP HOUSE!! HA HA!!
Terrible joke, blocked and reported
what size plastic did you order?
It was 25x40 6 mil plastic. I got it off Amazon but that particular one is not available right now. I'm sure there are others. Just look for a merchant that had lots of reviews so you know they're legit. Good luck. Let me know how yours turns out and what you may have done differently. I'd really like to know. I'm shocked at how well ours has held up.
Single layer of plastic ??? Will not condensation build up inside and rain on you as you work?
Yes condensation can accumulate although I haven't noticed it being a problem yet. Where I really notice the condensation is in our big hoop house. We are having to keep tarps on the things we're storing in there because it drips all over in the mornings.
so what are some measurements?
The hoop house is 12’x25’, we built the side walls up 3’, and used 16’x50” cattle panels, which gives us a center height of just under 8’. Oh and the window is 4’x4’
triangle out board buttresses...
You got me on that one!. ..?
