    inside the grease nipple is a spring and a ball bearing you pump grease in to the top and it pushes past the ball bearing and when you stop the spring pushes the ball bearing back up to keep the grease in and the shit out

    G'day mate, so yeah the grease nipple has a waist on it and the grease gun "end" has spring loaded jaws that snap around the nipple waist as you push it on, just push it on nice and square.
    As others have mentioned, the force of the grease pumped in overcomes the spring tension behind the ball bearing in the nipple and the grease enters there.
    Seeing as your ball joint boot will fall off just by looking at it, keep pumping the gun till you see the clean grease expel from the other side.
    It will do a fair job at cleaning the joint by flushing out the old grease and with any luck any impurities it picks up along the way.
    If I was a gambling man I would put money on a grease gun hidden somewhere in your garage, good luck finding it.
    Keep up the great videos

    Look forward to a second car, if a second Vauxhall is your choice😮 such as a Cavalier great 👍 but not too much bodywork that it becomes the only thing from week to week.😊
    Like your variety on your Yellow Durham 💛 Viva.
    Carry on Steve ❤

    Since you dont have time. Try the citric acid bath. 20% mix with water in room temperature. Give a couple of days and voila. Rinse with warm water and brush. Dry with wd-40(yes, with wd40). Done this way all of my HB support arms.

    Happy new year! I was a Grifter lad as well. I had a silver one and I've still got it at my parents gaff. I've been thinking for a while I should get it up and running again.

    Keep going Steve, all channels take time to germinate. Once it goes, all the hard work will be worthwhile. Once you get to 20-30k subs, YT's algorythym tends to kick in and then the sponsers come a calling. Keep on keeping on brother, it'll happen ❤👍🏼❤️👍🏼

    Happy New Year, Steve. All the best for 2025.
    There's not many retro cars at sensible prices nowadays bud, or very few. Weirdly enough, some of the German stuff like vw's and audi's are a lot cheaper than you'd think.

    • @RetroRebuild
      @RetroRebuild  3 дні тому +1

      I know mate, nothings cheap these days, I thought I was doing alright too, turns out I'm poor! 😆👍

    • @gordonhughes4603
      @gordonhughes4603 3 дні тому

      I think we're all poor nowadays. If you've bought stuff previously, you've been lucky. My audi 100 was only 1,600. Which I thought was an absolute bargain. Especially looking at other stuff now. Everything retro has jumped up.

    Hi mate, I'm not telling you how to use a wire wheel but you should clamp down what you are working on and hold the drill or grinder with both hands. Also if you can get a leather apron to wear over the top of any loose clothing. I'm only saying for your safety as it's easy for the wheel to kick back and dig into your clothes. It happened to me and cut into my ribs at the same time, very scary. Anyway I love what you're doing, keep it up, can't wait to see your next project.

    I've never understood people using cordless tools in a workshop when corded are more powerful and can't go flat.

    • @RetroRebuild
      @RetroRebuild  2 дні тому +1

      I think it's probably a health and safety thing these days with workshops that employ people, no cords to trip over

    The grease nipple should unscrew and be replaceable in case someone took heavy handed with a Yankee screwdriver, hits it instead of the side of the ball joint, and deformed the nipple!

  • @TonyBarnden
    @TonyBarnden 3 дні тому +1

    Yes push the grease gun end on and pump it in it’s a non return nipple

  • @johnphillips6063
    @johnphillips6063 3 дні тому +1

    Those type of grease nipples are known as hydraulic nipples. You require a hydraulic connector it will have either 3 or 4 jaws to clamp over the nipple it just pushes over the ball of the nipple pump the grease into the joint. to remove it tilt the connector at angle and pull it off
