You might already know this but dark oak forests have a free source of food in mushroom stew. You can punch red and brown mushrooms and make the stew from them with wooden bowls. Adding dandelions makes the food even better. Great early game source of food that does not require cooking/smelting! But I love this base. Floating islands are very underrated. Also, no offence but the ambient sounds of birds are a bit too loud. I would prefer if they are off in your next play throughs because it makes it hard to concentrate on the video.
Thanks so much for the feedback! It was challenging and rewarding to build on my floating island. And definitely noted on the ambient birds! I noticed that too while playing, unfortunately the mod I was using didn't allow for specific volume adjustments (ie. birds vs wave sounds) but I'll be looking for more customization in future mods!
