I was married one year (1977) before this was released in 1978. This would have been in our wedding. Love, love, love the Bee Gees. I am a black female, 68 yrs. old, grew up with them. (A bit lengthy, but a must read.) The Bees Gees: (from left to right) Robin, Barry and Maurice (pronounced Morris) Robin (Dec 22, 1949 - May 20, 2012) passed away as a result of kidney failure. Maurice (Dec 22, 1949 - Jan. 12, 2003.) Passed as a result of a twisted intestine. He was in the hospital for 2 days. Barry said he had a heart attack, but the doctors still operated. He left behind his wife, Yvonne and two children. Robin left behind his wife, Dwina and 4 children. Maurice and Robin were fraternal twins. Andy Gibb, the youngest brother, had his own successful career. He was 12 yrs younger than Barry. He and Barry looked so much alike, that they could had been twins. Andy passed away in 1988, at the age of 30. Barry stated that Andy lived the 'LA lifestyle' involving drugs, and he had heart problems. Andy left behind a daughter. The brothers wrote all of his songs. Barry stated, "I am the last man standing." He was born September 1, 1946. He has 5 adult children and 7 grandkids. On September 1, 2023, he and his wife Linda will celebrate their 53rd wedding anniversary. (They were married on his 24th birthday.) On a side note, the first born is their sister, Lesley, who turned 78 January 12, 2023. Maurice passed on the same day as her 58th birthday. Lesley didn't have an interest to be in the limelight, but she can sing. At about the age of 2, Barry reached on the table and a pot of hot tea fell on his chest and arms. You can see the shine on his chest. His mom said he almost died, and he did not talk for almost 2 yrs. Skin grafts were not used in the 40s, so he was in the hospital for a long time. They wrote all of their songs, and songs for other singers, which they sang after the songs were released by the other singers. The brothers have a VERY IMPRESSIVE catalogue of songs! Another time, four of the songs that were written by them, for others, were in the top 5. A song that Barry wrote for Andy was #2, but then it went to #1, and the Bee Gees song became #2! You should notice, three singers, one mike. Their harmony has to be perfect since no post production tweaking is possible. That is the level of talent these guys had.
They sure had that and sure did that, live especially and for sure in the early days, but isn’t this just a video recorded to the already mixed studio version, with at times more than three vocal tracks? (Like Barry adding high notes on top of their harmony with him also in it..?)
@@Silber7 - I think it all depended on how they wrote any song . . . most of them could be sung live quite easily for them. But some like this one with so many harmonies involved was just too difficult to do live . . . from what I recall now, I think this one had up to 8 multi-layers of them put together for some parts - and then they also sang it live here as well along with the live band/orch playing in just 1 take . . .

Why do people get this so wrong? It's a fantastc song, but it's certainly not 3 singing into one mic. You must be deaf if you think that. This is the mixing. The recording process was the longest of all the tracks on Spirits Having Flown as there are nine layers of three-part harmony, creating 27 voices, though the high falsetto voices are the most pronounced in the final mix:
Started singing together in the 1950’s. Hits in the 60’s through the 2000’s. 5 decades of hits. The only group to ever have 5 songs in the top ten at the same time. The fabulous Brothers Gibb wrote all of their own songs, and wrote for other artists. They wrote over 1,000 songs.
Well I didn’t plan on crying today but every time I hear The Bee Gees I think of my mom. She would listen to them when she would clean or garden. It just brings back some memories I miss. I hope you can hear them in heaven mama. I love and miss you.
So cute to watch you get that dreamy starstruck look on your face…I do too! They’re that good! In Barry’s Broken Heart documentary, one of the interviewees said “when you’ve got brothers singing together, it’s like an instrument nobody else can buy”.
This is an example of what they call "Blood Harmony". For some reason, when you get a group of family members singing together, they way their voices blend is almost other-worldly.
I loved your reaction to this, Aileen. It is a beautiful song, you're right they were such a talented family, they had another younger brother, Andy Gibb, who had some solo singles and used to join his older brothers on stage at times. The three brothers, Barry, the lead vocalist here, Robin the one on the right without facial hair, and Maurice, only Barry is still alive now. They started performing when they were children. This was released in the Autumn of 1979. I hope that this helps, Aileen?
@@darlenecherbak4042Yes, he did, from us both. There's another reaction channel that's done a couple or a few reactions to Andy Gibb's songs. Rob Squad reactions, if you want to check them out, the last one was a few weeks ago.
their best song ever, by the Bee Gees , IMO....even though I love the disco songs...(I am a heavy metal fan, but was born in 70') that's Barry....he's got the most unique voice...and of course, the brother not shown/ Andy as well...I'm surprised you didn't tear up
Great reaction, Aileen! The Bee Gees are awesome singers, songwriters and performers! To my ears their early material is their best and I would recommend "Words", "How Can You Mend An Open Heart" and "To Love Somebody" as songs you will love! But honestly I will be here for any of their songs you choose to react to! The brothers were from The United Kingdom, though they had some early success when living in Australia!
Berry is in the middle and the Twins are Maurice & Robin - robin is the short hair guy----there will never be anyone that can sing better than the brother Gibb's there was one more Gibb brother but Andy passed away way to soon.
I've seen many of your reactions to songs of every genre out there, but I have never seen you smile as big and as much as in this video. Bee-Gees still got it!
Yeah they were incredible! Truly unique and genuinely talented. Thank you for giving this awesome review of the Bee Gees as they deserve it. Have a nice day!
This was my first time sitting in with you today, thank you for allowing me to do that. I enjoyed the time i spent here so I subscribed and left a like while I was here! Thank you for your fabulous reaction!
Bright Angel Aileen, the glowing smile on your beautiful face and the light in your eyes was "Too Much Heaven." It's incredible how music can change the world because it can change your emotions and heart, just like this song did to you. Thanks for the great commentary and hard work.
HI AT SOME POINT IN TIME BEE GEES WHERE PLAYED EVERY 20 SEK SOME PLACE ON EARTH, U LOOK GORGEOUS, GREAT REACTION, THEY ARE ONE OF A KIND. LOVE FROM DENMARK
Your new found love for the Brother Gibb is very enlightening! There are so many more hundreds of songs to dig into, so you are in for the most amazingly beautiful ride of your life!!! Here are a few more starters to react to... Fanny (be tender with my love), Staying Alive, Love So Right, Love You Inside Out!! You will be ecstatic that you dove into the rabbit hole of greatness ❤❤❤
What incredible talent they are have been listening to them since the 70s and all done with no autotune or special mics. One mic and 3 singers amazing talent.
Thanks for such a sincere and heartfelt reaction. The BeeGees are the epitome of harmony and songwriting. No autotune, beautiful lyrics etc. Make sure to react to Stayin Alive, Tragedy, Alone, Night Fever, you should be Dancing, More than Woman etc. 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
I was at the sold out MGM Gran garden in 1997 to see the BEE GEES live one night nly show, They were on the top of the game...NO AUTO TUNE...Barry is the front man and lead singer Robin usually stands to barrys left and Mauriice plays the piono, organ ,guitiar and sing in a litl lower regeter
We just watched you fall in love with Barry Gibb…. And millions and millions and millions of women did the EXACT SAME thing back in the day….Great reaction.
One of the greatest things about Barry is that he literally could have chosen any woman he wanted back in the day.......and he DID......his wife Linda......54 years later they are still happily married. Amazing.
I was A Junior in High school when this song came out I remember first school dance I asked the Girl of my Dreams to the Dance she said yes 40 + years Later we are still Dancing too this Classic this is real Music
The underrated aspect of Barry Gibbs' vocals is often singing in those higher registers , falsetto is extremely hard technically. For any great singer this is always their greatest challenge in my opinion. Barry mastered it . He primarily used this in all of his songs.
Indeed, they were born to sing together, & when youngest brother Andy occasionally joined them, the 4-part harmony was extraordinary. Thanks for your reaction.
You are the first Metal pretty girl i´ve seen that understand the complexity of Bee Gees that absorb and also feel it that much. Im a Rocker from Germany btw. The Internet Influence is Overpowered. Much Love ;D
They are incredible God rest the ones in heaven. Their youngest Brother Andy was as gifted as they are and was getting ready to join them but tragically passed away too soon as well as Robin and Maurice. They were Superb. Thank God for the invention of sound recording so we can enjoy them eternally.
It's nice to see the top of your head. Not a huge Bee Gees fan, but you have to admit the guys can sing and are masters of harmonizing. This is solid tune.
love the way the chorus merges back in each time, then the bridge and the climax and back into the chorus - the song structure is very good, as well as the performance.
Watching you react to this song was very pleasant for me. I know you truly enjoyed the song your smile gave it away to me. There is a song that they wrote and sang that is now saving lives. The American Heart Association has adopted "Stayin' Alive" as the beat to do CPR to. When you listen to it you will know the rhythm to do the chest compressions .
I am having fun listening to your reaction! You nailed it with you reading of these fabulous brothers! Check out the song "Massachusetts" with Robin on the left here as lead vocalist! The most eerie and beautiful vibrato in his voice
If you've never heard the BeeGees' song, "Stayin' Alive," or watched the movie, "Saturday Night Fever" with John Travolta, I highly recommend that song and video. It's a very different kind of song from the BeeGees, which demonstrates their exceptional range as singers and songwriters. By the way, the tallest lead singer is the oldest brother, Barry. The other bearded one is Maurice, and the clean-shaven one is Robin. They're twins.
Thank you Aileen for this good song . I know Bee Gees since a long time because i am like Barry for age . I love them and your smile too ... Merci encore Mademoiselle .
Bee Gees has always been one of my favorites! So glad you finally reacted to this song. Watching your facial expressions change with your hand gestures made me smile big time!
You have just started at the top of a big deep rabbit hole. You should listen to more Bee Gees. This group has been around since the early 60's and have music up to around 2003. When Mourice passed away, and in 2012 Robin passed away. But everyone who has listened to their music in these reaction videos has all said they have never heard one song that they didn't like. You really don't know what your missing.
Robin has a unique sounding voice, it trembles when he sings and it sounds like he’s crying in some songs with his voice hi lighted. Check out their disco era, Staying Alive, Nights on Broadway, Night Fever, Fanny be Tender with my Love. After disco era, One, For Whom the Bell Tolls. Their earlier music was also sooo good, Run to Me, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, Words, I Started a Joke….there’s just too many to even mention them all
I honestly can't think of a male group that can compare to the BeeGees. Forget the Temptations or Back Street Boys or Boyz2Men. It's like comparing good, great to OMG 😂 You can only think of a few girls' groups who could pull off this insane level of vocal ability plus harmonic fullness. And this doesn't even call into question the lyrics. This song is simply one of the most beautifully written songs in pop music history.
Love your reactions, to strings and Barry’s high notes, comments on bass and on strings. Even your commentary at the end of song. Vert insightful: picking up on nuances and impressive commentary. I’ll subscribe.
I didn't recognize the song from the title, but a split second of hearing it was all I needed. The Bee Gees were my mother's band when I was a small boy.
Barry Just had a birthday 77 years old. Maurice on the right passed away in 2003. Robin on the left passed away in 2012. They also had a younger brother Andy Gibb who had a solo career. He did have drug & alcohol addictions and it weakend his heart and he passed away in 1980 just after he turned 30. They were all amazing. Check out some of Andy Gibbs songs.
They handled the success so well too. You never heard any bad stuff on them. They were very special. So glad I grew up with them. All their songs rock. What a range! Barry, falsetto; Robin, more modulated voice; Maurice...silent partner and group businessman!
I enjoy your reactions because you really seem to enjoy new to you music. The Brothers wrote the songs and music for Barbara Streisand's album "Guilty". Barry sings "guilty" with her. For some reason no one reacts to Barbara, maybe because everyone knows her. She did a live concert in her backyard and Barry shows up for a couple songs. If you react to those choose the live concert version. You won't be disappointed..
I love the way you're smiling when listening to these extremely talented men. The joy they put out there is shown so beautifully on your beautiful face. Thanks for doing this reaction
You should definitely check out more Bee Gees, Staying Alive, Night Fever, Tragedy, You Win Again,, and I think you'd love Immortality, a duet with Celine Dion. They are an amazing group with the lead singer Barry Gibb, and brothers Robin and Maurice. Totally unique band, unique voices, unique harmonizing, What's not to love? Great to see you swoon!!!
So the one in the middle is Barry. He’s the oldest and generally the lead singer. The clean shaven on Barry’s right is Robin. The one on Barry’s left with a beard, mustache and balding is Maurice (pronounced Morris). Both Robin and Maurice are gone now (Maurice for about 20 years and Robin for just over 10). There was a fourth brother named Andy. He was the youngest. He was primarily a solo artist but did perform with his older brothers from time to time. Andy died in 1988 at the age of 30 from natural causes stemming from years of substance abuse. So today, Barry is technically the only one left though he does perform quite a bit with his oldest son, Stephen Gibb.
@@TheDreamtheaterlover True. As I recall, it wasn’t until Barry started using that falsetto voice that he became the lead singer. And even after that, there were songs like “Massachusetts” where Robin was still the lead.
@@amtrak7394No. Just to name a couple of their early songs, Barry sang lead on "Words" and "To Love Somebody" and he did not sing falsetto. The falsetto came along later.
So much history here. This one is my favorite. They had the best harmonies in the business for sure. Try Fanny Be Tender With My Love next. You won’t be disappointed.
You should react to TIME IS PASSING BY. Barry had that same confidence at age 13. He knew at 8 years old what he was going to do. They not only had the natural gift and dream, but even as kids had such a passion and work ethic that was needed to achieve their decades of success.
Your facial expressions during these reactions are just wonderful. I'm a big big fan of your site. Don't worry I won't be stalking you in the future. Just keep up the nice work. Thanks Aileen.
It never seemed fair to me - Barry got the looks, the hair, the height, voice (of course they all sound great), and now he is the last one alive. Maybe it's just me.
The subtleties and nuances are beautiful and you picked up on so many of them. I have probably watched 12 other reactions i love this song sooo much but your reactions are the closest to mine. The tonal quality, blend, harmony even some vibrato. And the instrumentation complementing. Truly a priceless response to a priceless song thank you!❤❤❤❤❤
Middle singer is Barry Gibb. Other two are twins (don't recall their names). They had a fourth brother, Andy I think, who mainly performed solo. Barry is the only survivor among the four, the eldest, and the person who formed the band. The band name is either from Barry Gibb's initials, or, more likely, from the Brothers Gibb. Or both. Titans of music. British, I think. Thanks for reacting to these favorites!
Maurice and Robin are the twins. The name was taken from Brothers Gibb. Andy died young of an OD. Maurice died suddenly in his 50s of a bowel obstruction ( twisted). Robin died just over a decade ago of cancer.
One of the best groups ever!!!
It's still funny watching women have the same reactions to the Bee Gees 50 yrs. later. lol
hell I'm a guy and I love them all but Robin and Andy will always be my favorites

The recording process was the longest of all the tracks on Spirits Having Flown as there are nine layers of three-part harmony, creating 27 voices, though the high falsetto voices are the most pronounced in the final mix:
Barry got swag
If a man doesn't feel this way about his love for a woman, he doesn't love her. This is the depth we must strive for fellas.
This is an example of what they call "Blood Harmony". For some reason, when you get a group of family members singing together, they way their voices blend is almost other-worldly.
the song becomes even more beautiful when we know that they donated all profits to charitable purposes.
I loved all the brothers. Andy was my first concert. I had a massive crush on him - it's sad he gets forgotten sometimes. Rip Andy.❤
@@darlenecherbak4042 Yes, it is sad, particularly as he died so young, that is probably why he's not better known about.
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. For sure. But he just got some love after all these years. 🎶
@@darlenecherbak4042Yes, he did, from us both. There's another reaction channel that's done a couple or a few reactions to Andy Gibb's songs. Rob Squad reactions, if you want to check them out, the last one was a few weeks ago.
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. Thanks Adam - I watch them as well & really like there comments - they see pretty knowledgeable. Have a good day/evening. 😊
They were the kings of falsetto harmonies, and Barry was the emperor.
This is a favorite song to me,glad you loved it
I was lucky enough to grow up with the Bee Gees. Nice to see you discover the magic!
their best song ever, by the Bee Gees , IMO....even though I love the disco songs...(I am a heavy metal fan, but was born in 70') that's Barry....he's got the most unique voice...and of course, the brother not shown/ Andy as well...I'm surprised you didn't tear up
Great reaction, Aileen!
Barry's FALSETTO voice is such a game changer musically. He never knew he could sing in Falsetto for years I think until SNF.. Amazingly talented...
Until nights on broadway!
Bright Angel Aileen, the glowing smile on your beautiful face and the light in your eyes was "Too Much Heaven." It's incredible how music
can change the world because it can change your emotions and heart, just like this song did to you. Thanks for the great commentary
and hard work.
It does my heart good to see this generation enjoy the music of my youth.
My daughters favorite song...she 15....awesome tune.
This is what you call Music.
At 4.40 you can see her heart melt and her falling in love with the song right there and then.
Beautiful song, beautiful moment.
What incredible talent they are have been listening to them since the 70s and all done with no autotune or special mics. One mic and 3 singers amazing talent.
A timeless masterpiece, 10,000 years from now it'll still be a hit !
Ron
Bee Gees....I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You..1968 one of the early hits and one of the best take a listen they were so very young
Amazing.
"Are you just a dream... to fade away?". One of the most beautiful songs they've ever recorded.
Great reaction!! "Twenty out of ten"! They are unsurpassed. Thanks! It was a pleasure listening to you praise these guys who ARE an experience!
love the way the chorus merges back in each time, then the bridge and the climax and back into the chorus - the song structure is very good, as well as the performance.
Beeges always in my heart so lucky that my generation had this group this talent
God bless all of them
I am having fun listening to your reaction!
Warms my heart to see your reaction ! My favorite group by far !!🎶
Bee Gees has always been one of my favorites!
So glad you finally reacted to this song. Watching your facial expressions change with your hand gestures made me smile big time!
It's not about the looks first and foremost... this is music and harmony... they all made it sound sooooooo beautiful
Their earlier music was also sooo good, Run to Me, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, Words, I Started a Joke….there’s just too many to even mention them all
Robin sang a natural raw Vibrato never to be matched, even Today 2023
I love how young people enjoy good music that I grew up with in the 70s as a teenager
I honestly can't think of a male group that can compare to the BeeGees. Forget the Temptations or Back Street Boys or Boyz2Men. It's like comparing good, great to OMG 😂
You can only think of a few girls' groups who could pull off this insane level of vocal ability plus harmonic fullness.
As a child of the 70s love seeing young people enjoying music from the greatest decade of music.
Love that your enjoying the Awesome BeeGees,,they so stand the test of time!!!!!
I presume it's a typo but Andy passed away in 1988.
Barry has a magic that echoes through the years...
Good description! It's also good to remember that Robin and Maurice are twins.
@@johnbattles1002 True. I did forget that.
In the beginning years Robin was their leadsinger
@@TheDreamtheaterlover True. As I recall, it wasn’t until Barry started using that falsetto voice that he became the lead singer. And even after that, there were songs like “Massachusetts” where Robin was still the lead.
@@amtrak7394No. Just to name a couple of their early songs, Barry sang lead on "Words" and "To Love Somebody" and he did not sing falsetto. The falsetto came along later.
Hey beautiful. Glad you're enjoying the Bee Gees they owned the Disco era! A beautiful ballad by a talented trio! 🔥🔥❤️❤️💋💋🦊🦊
You know what helps my anxiety from the military? Hearing this beautiful song and seeing Aileen great smile,
So much history here. This one is my favorite. They had the best harmonies in the business for sure. Try Fanny Be Tender With My Love next. You won’t be disappointed.
The song is so smoothly sung, you'd swear it was sung in one long breath.
Now you know what Real music sounds like. Bee Gees are Legends. Great take you're description of them is Flawless.
I love every time they sing "too". The timing and phrasing are so very good.
You should react to TIME IS PASSING BY. Barry had that same confidence at age 13. He knew at 8 years old what he was going to do. They not only had the natural gift and dream, but even as kids had such a passion and work ethic that was needed to achieve their decades of success.
There has never been any music created to top this. Unreal. No autotune. No technological tricks. Real musicians playing real instruments. Perfection.
....... and there probably never will be !
Left - Robin Gibb, Middle - Barry Gibb & Right - Maurice Gibb.
It's the 70's 🕺😉🙂
Your soul radiates during these reactions. I just love your energy. ✌️
Maybe it has also to do with his "lifestyle" (family, wife...)?!
@@nelerhabarber5602 That's ok for the longevity part.
Maurice & Robin were fraternal twins, so they had to share the good genes.
@@whamsie4022 🤣🤣🤣
Maybe Barry is tormented being the last one alive. He looked out for his brothers from the day they were born and all through their careers.
The subtleties and nuances are beautiful and you picked up on so many of them. I have probably watched 12 other reactions i love this song sooo much but your reactions are the closest to mine. The tonal quality, blend, harmony even some vibrato. And the instrumentation complementing. Truly a priceless response to a priceless song thank you!❤❤❤❤❤
Next should be "Nights on Broadway" live on the Midnight Special. Featuring Barry's chest voice.
Welcome young lady to the decade of great music I think the next BeeGees song you should listen to would be Love So Right 👍
They even had another very talented baby brother, who had his own Career. His name is Andy.
no auto-tune or anything (didn't exist at the time) just raw, pure talent!!
Lots of babies were made to this one!!
Brilliant voices and musicians for decades!
Andy died from myocarditis......inflammation of heart muscle caused by a virus. His heart was weakened by cocaine abuse but he did not OD
The name comes from Barry Gibb, Bill Goode, Bill Gates,(first manager and producer of them) Barbra Gibb (mother) and brothers Gibb!
@@taylemgames2652Andy didn't OD but died from myocarditis.
When they step up to the microphone ITS MAGIC !!!!
