Retired firefighter, 29yrs of service...you never forget fatal accidents, especially the ones involved with fire...I still have nightmares from past calls...
My uncle was the driver of this ambulance. He returned to work a year later. Then became a Boston police officer. He was recently involved in a police motorcycle accident. I think he needs a desk job
Mississippi Woman He got t- boned pretty hard. I suspect he was mashed up pretty good from the impact, probably unconscious. I really feel for his next of kin. Imagine having to identify his remains. You won't forget that ever.

I've seen only a small amount of wrecks where it was almost not recognizable as a vehicle. When I saw the the condition of that Red Vehicle in this video Shock is how I felt. Wow
I have mad respect for the people up to their elbows in this kind of thing. You gotta have some kind of faith in the order of things or it would twist your mind up good after a while.
I bet wrecks where much worse back in the day. My buddy had a square body 87 suburban, thing must of been made of pure fucking tank steel. Can't imagine how much damage those can cause on impact
Omg wtf FTW that red S10’s cab is gone and the is sooo mangled you can’t tell what it was they most have been going pretty fast !!! And plus the ambulance 🚑 !!!
It's the job of the person driving the emergency vehicle to make sure that everyone sees him or her when they are going through intersections and the light is red. It's the ambulance drivers fault.

Just a few hours after writing this, somebody who looked exactly like the fireman on the left was on the news, and they said "he died suddenly." I hope it wasn't him. If anyone has any updates, let me know...
John L yep, firemen are not butchers or bbq chef’s, it’s down to their decisions who survives sometimes weighing priorities and dangers in the heat of the moment, it’s not until after the event they get time to reflect and to think over whether they made the right choice or if they could of done things different, hard job
@HauntedSociety o, but it is...I remember attending 8th grade and hearing about it from a classmate who's brother was a parametric. Plus it was all over the news...it may have been that the pickup blew the light--perhaps that amount I don't remember, but know someone did.
Iove and respect law enforcement. However, I'm trying to figure out why the officer at the beginning of this video, is running back and forth, attempting to shine his flashlight inside a smoldering twisted hunk of metal?? While the fire fighters are extinguishing what was once a total fireball?? The driver was unfortunately more than likely decesed upon impact from the ambulance before the blazer caught fire. It gave the appearance of morbid curiosity. Just saying. I don't want to see the horrific aftermath of something like this unnecessarily, that will leave images in my mind forever
If an emergency vehicle has lights and siren activated, they have the right of way regardless of red lights. They think they can because they ACTUALLY can.

I think so too, he's not fit to drive emergency vehicles.
Or learn to drive!!

I really hope they were gone from this earth at the impact and didn't suffer through the fire. Bless all!

Now imagine all the terrible accidents that happened that weren’t filmed. Endless amounts. Sad.
Amazed at the turnout gear BFD was wearing back then. I was a Volunteer in RI and we had better gear. Most guys just wearing 3/4 coats.

My friend is a firefighter paramedic and he says if you’re not careful you self-medicate to manage the things you’ve seen.

I agree, even if it’s an emergency vehicle, the Ambulance driver still have to check both lanes before they go.

And 24 years ago from 2018!
I can remember further back way more than 19 years ago. You make it sound like that is too long of a time to remember. Must be young.

@617macky the ambulance blew the light while going to a job. Remember hearing about it the next day.
According to reports back then that intersection had a yellow flashing light which means slow down and proceed when clear .
What was he doing at 4:50 pushing his gut out!!!@

Guess what Chris , he might not have wanted to be seen, but if you click on the link above it shows him in frozen state lol!

Did he have a video camera in his flashlight?
