      @@WeAllJuggleKnives well the damn thing better be good because I just ordered one,, so if it aint I'm going to come hunt you down LOL, na just kidding of course LOL, we do live in the golden age where quality doesn't have to cost a ton on at least some things, and actually to a point getting even better on things that used to not be that way, the days of those super cheap made in rakastan or china fall aparts are still out there but MUCH easier to avoid thanks to some real solid low dollar cost options, I am from old school where to get a high quality knife you had to lay out high end dollars and as such I have some pretty darn expensive knives in my collection so knives like this hopefully break that idea for me because now that I am retired and on a fixed income I don't have the dollars to throw around like I used to, just ordered a Mora robust to try out also,, hard to think a $20 knife can be worth a fiddlers damn but everybody seems to like them so we will see, anyhow thanks for the vids enjoy them even if you are just pushing a bunch of junk LOL of course kidding again LOL, take care my friend.

      @@looseballs1966 - I give you props for being honest, a lot of people are retired and on a tight budget, but almost NO ONE admits it on here, but believe me I can tell because sometimes the people sound all stressed out.

    Hey, mate. I've learned to convert USD to a rough Aussie equivalent when I watch knife videos with (usually) US dollars described. USD40 is roughly AUD60-65, depending on the float at the time. This EF-133 knife would cost me 120 dollars all-up to get it here. Another example, when Civivi did their first releases, I ordered a Praxis from BHQ. It was about 49 bucks US I think. It converted to 65 Aussie dollars back then, and the freight was around 35. It was 105 Aussie dollars to get it to Australia but I was happy to pay that price. The Praxis is one of my favourite knife designs/styles. So much so, that I recently bought another from a local dealer with those cool translucent ULTEM handles. The local retailer charges around 125 Aussie bucks for them (about 82USD).
    I like the look of this EF133, but sadly, my budget won't allow for the freight nowadays. Thanks for the great review, mate.

      @@WhuDhat Oh, definitely. However, there are not too many dealers who carry a comprehensive range of brands. My local dealer, Knifeshop Australia has a great range. There are a few others. One in Tasmania, as well as a lot of outdoor and hunting supply stores that stock different brands. From my shopping around, I've found that Knifeshop Australia has the widest brand variety. Knife Supplies Australia down in Tassie are a close second.

      @sticksnstonespatriot1728 4 місяці тому

      @@SirPraiseSun I dislike giant finger sized choils on smaller ( under 6in) blades. The most important part of the knife blade and where you get the best leverage and contro,l with the least amount of effort, is right after the handle ends.
      I don't have a problem with a small sharpening choil. Even though I can sharpen most of my blades without one.
      I hope this makes sense.

    On the one hand it's nice to see knife review by somebody who actually held knife before. Kids who can't use it makes reviews in these days. On the other hand you have no chance to recognize if it's really dc53 steel. With such a tasks could be 9cr18mov and you wouldn't know. Eafengrow lied about steel before. Knives marked as D2 was actually 8cr13mov (luv them knives). I actually like this knife a lot but I'll wait to PMI test.

    It looks like a nicely refined version of my old trusty Ontario RAT5. Although the choil on that appears to be too small for me to use. Looks like a high value unit.

    Just got it. Nice blade and handle. The sheath not so great. So tight that removing the knife is almost dangerous. Had to mod it to make unsheathing easier.

    Nice review. Thanks for showing this. DC53 (Daido steel?), if I remember correctly is not stainless as they claim in their Amazon page (at best semi-stainless) and Miguron was using such steel in their folders initially (I have the Akri in that steel). Not sure how hard they heat treated this knife (they claim 60-62 Rckwll), but I know one reviewer thought that the Miguron DC53 was on the softer side (upper 50's maybe?) and so did not perform up to its potential. I think EF has a similar sized knife (fixed blade 4 inches)in 14c28n for about the same price (around 40$). I'd like to see a comparison between these two knives. I'm guessing DC53 will hold an edge longer, but hard to beat 14c28n for toughness and stainless property (which might be important for a knife used outdoors). Thanks again for review.

    • @masy8525
      @masy8525 7 місяців тому +1

      That's right, DC53 is semi-stainless steel.

    • @gaberoo9099
      @gaberoo9099 7 місяців тому

      @@masy8525 Was reading up on that class of steels (based on Vasco wear?) in LarrinThomas' book (he groups it together with K340 and Sleipner) and it sounds like a better alternative to D2, except that it likely depends on a proper heat treat for it to display those improved qualities. I think Jerad Neeve reviewed a Miguron knife in that steel and he was not terribly impressed with DC53 and I think he said it probably was heat treated softer than ideal.

    I like that blade shape, ...I've been watching for years using my other channel, just realized I wasn't subbed under my knife channel.
    I've always liked that you look for great lowcost deals that are actually good knives. 👍
    Yeah some of their stuff is just to strange looking for me , too many angles but this one I like .
    Dc53 is good stuff , my wife uses the CR2.5 esee looking knife in the kitchen.
    You should buy that knife it's really nice. It's small but a perfect little whittling edc food prepping blade for $20to$25 .
    She can destroy blades in the kitchen it's a serious place for knife testing in my house. I've only needed to strop it every couple of weeks on the belly ...no chips no rolls no dings NADDA.

    doesn't throw a spark ? 400 grid sandpaper on a 1x2 wood for 30 seconds on the spine and you have a sharp 90 degree angled section.
