  • This is the fourteenth installment of my build of the CV-6. In this video I am building the structure under the stern flight deck. The photo etch/brass used is a part of the Pontos detail up set for the kit. If you ask me, a really nice addition to the ship.
    The build is based on the Trumpeter 03712 kit with detail up sets from Pontos and KA-models; trying to use the best of both sets.

    Love your low camera angle shots under the flight deck structure. You could be filming them from a boat!

    The stern flight deck looks great! What a gorgeous ship and you hit it out of the park with the colors you have chosen. I am really enjoying this build!

    Another really nice post Kenneth. your skill with photo-etch once again on display. the wonderful thing about carriers is the structural detail that becomes such a focal point. thanks for sharing,again great work

    Very nice work! It's just a shame that the add on kits cost more than model itself.

      @NorwegianModellingBench  Рік тому

      Thanks Norm! It is expensive, but at the same time when you look at the work they have put in making it, and the quality of detail, it actually is worth it in my book.

    I'm working on my build. I started with the gun mounts, but I can't wait to get to this part. It looks like fun! Do you think solder might work better for some of the parts with limited contact points?

    • @NorwegianModellingBench
      @NorwegianModellingBench  Рік тому

      I can assure you, it was fun. Not sure why, but brass just makes me happy 🤩😂 Yes solder might work. But I would be careful doing that in places that are very visible, but I am not an expert in soldering brass. If you master it, then I would opt for that in those places.

    Can you spend a bit of time explaining how to decipher Pontos instructions? I find so confusing and I hesitate to start one.

      I certainly can Paul, but I need some directions from you in terms of what you find confusing.

      @@NorwegianModellingBench just the assembly, the pictures don’t clearly say where to fold or the order of assembly , maybe it’s just me…

    • @NorwegianModellingBench
      @NorwegianModellingBench  Рік тому

      @@hacheyp It's not only you, the instructions vary a lot, the newer ones are a lot better than the older imho. Sometimes it does require some deciphering to understand what to do, and it is very case to case based. Let me think how I can help on this one, it is a challenge for sure. Thanks Paul! 🙂

    Can E6000 alone be used to secure photo etch?

    • @NorwegianModellingBench
      @NorwegianModellingBench  Рік тому +1

      Yes. But I would only use it to secure the bigger parts, or gluing bigger PE parts together. Just remember it takes 24 hours to cure, which also is great when you need some time to adjust the parts, it has a 5 ish minutes of open time.

      @@hacheyp Glad to be of help. It is also a perfect glue for those bigger plastic kit parts btw. And as always, remember to score the PE where you are gluing to improve the grip, regardless of the glue you use. Good luck 😊
