CV-6 Stern Flight Deck

- This is the fourteenth installment of my build of the CV-6. In this video I am building the structure under the stern flight deck. The photo etch/brass used is a part of the Pontos detail up set for the kit. If you ask me, a really nice addition to the ship.
The build is based on the Trumpeter 03712 kit with detail up sets from Pontos and KA-models; trying to use the best of both sets.
Love your low camera angle shots under the flight deck structure. You could be filming them from a boat!
Thanks 🙏 It gives a great view of the structure for sure 😊
I'm learning a lot from your build videos. Thank you for sharing
Kenneth
Glad to hear that Loren :-) Thank you
@@NorwegianModellingBench Thank you
Nice work Kenneth, that detail is just awesome !
Thanks 😊 I agree, Pontos has really made a great set.
Great work Kenneth so much detail
Thanks Stephen, I'm glad you liked it :-)
Very nice work Kenneth!
Thank you Robert!
That's a lot of work. Looks awesome. 👍
Thanks, it has taken some hours for sure 😉
Neat work, thanks for the build tips.
Thanks 😊 Glad you find them helpful.
its been awhile bud, enterprise is looking awesome! great job!
Thank you so much 😊
Brilliant work.
Thanks Steve 😊
The stern flight deck looks great! What a gorgeous ship and you hit it out of the park with the colors you have chosen. I am really enjoying this build!
Many thanks Jeremy for those kind words. I think it is starting to look quite nice my self ;-)
NICE WORK AS USUAL
Thanks Paul 😀
Another really nice post Kenneth. your skill with photo-etch once again on display. the wonderful thing about carriers is the structural detail that becomes such a focal point. thanks for sharing, again great work
Thank you as always Ralph for your kind words, it is highly appreciated 😊
Amazing Work. I have the :350 USS Montana. I'm hoping to get all the detail parts to start this level of build
Thank you Ray! Have you ordered a detail up set for the USS Montana?
@@NorwegianModellingBench not yet, I am still looking for one
@@raystarr4388 Okay, I was just wondering since I haven't seen many of them. I think Very Fire had one in 1:350. Good luck with the hunt.
Very nice work! It's just a shame that the add on kits cost more than model itself.
Thanks Norm! It is expensive, but at the same time when you look at the work they have put in making it, and the quality of detail, it actually is worth it in my book.
I'm working on my build. I started with the gun mounts, but I can't wait to get to this part. It looks like fun! Do you think solder might work better for some of the parts with limited contact points?
I can assure you, it was fun. Not sure why, but brass just makes me happy 🤩😂 Yes solder might work. But I would be careful doing that in places that are very visible, but I am not an expert in soldering brass. If you master it, then I would opt for that in those places.
Can you spend a bit of time explaining how to decipher Pontos instructions? I find so confusing and I hesitate to start one.
I certainly can Paul, but I need some directions from you in terms of what you find confusing.
@@NorwegianModellingBench just the assembly, the pictures don’t clearly say where to fold or the order of assembly , maybe it’s just me…
@@hacheyp It's not only you, the instructions vary a lot, the newer ones are a lot better than the older imho. Sometimes it does require some deciphering to understand what to do, and it is very case to case based. Let me think how I can help on this one, it is a challenge for sure. Thanks Paul! 🙂
Hi Kenneth would it be possible to forward me the address for pontos as I need to order the detail set and don't want to risk losing the money regards dave
Keep up the excellent job you're going
Hi. I shop from www.hobbydecal.com, they charge through PayPal. I have shopped there many times without any problems.
@@NorwegianModellingBench many thanks for that Kenneth never seen that site before will give it a look regards dave
Hi Kenneth after watching you build with the pontos kit I don't think I can do it anywhere near as good as you so I will order the ka kit looks to be a bit easyer I hope. Did you order the ka from the same site as pontos. Regards dave
@@davidsimpson4711 Thanks for the compliment. It is always good to know your boundaries, but also good to push them 😉 No I have ordered directly from KA-models.co.kr. I can recommend the extra plane kits as well.
Can E6000 alone be used to secure photo etch?
Yes. But I would only use it to secure the bigger parts, or gluing bigger PE parts together. Just remember it takes 24 hours to cure, which also is great when you need some time to adjust the parts, it has a 5 ish minutes of open time.
@@NorwegianModellingBench thanks, I will get some and give it a try!
@@hacheyp Glad to be of help. It is also a perfect glue for those bigger plastic kit parts btw. And as always, remember to score the PE where you are gluing to improve the grip, regardless of the glue you use. Good luck 😊
