Norwegian Modelling Bench
Norway
Приєднався 25 тра 2022
Welcome to my channel, my name is Kenneth, and as the name of the channel implies; I live in Norway. I primarily like to build ship models in scale 1:200 and 1:350. I hope that some of the videos will be of interest, and hopefully spark some motivation and inspiration.
LHD-2 USS Essex - Part 1
In this first part of the build I am working on the hull, the well deck and hangar deck. I am also showing the build of the LCAC, where one of them have been placed inside the well deck.
It is far from a perfect build, but I hope that you can use some of the steps and sequence for your build.

ICM 1/24 Ford Model A Phaeton
Переглядів 9853 місяці тому
Full build of the Ford Model A Standard Phaeton with Soft Top from ICM. It is in 1/24 scale, and I built a cobblestone road base to show it off. The Ford model A is an American passenger car that was first presented to the public in 1927. Its serial production began in the same year and continued until 1931. About 4.9 million copies of this car were produced in its course. The car, apart from t...
How to make a cobblestone road of XPS

In this video I am making a cobblestone road that will be my base for a model car. The cobblestone XPS was bought from www.ebay.com/usr/norgmonsterworkshop which offers them in different scales. Then painting, washing, grouting and applying static grass.

This is the eleventh installment, and final build installment, in my build series of the BB-63 USS Missouri - "Mighty Mo". In this installment I am building the guns for the ship; 5" twin guns, 40mm Bofors Quad guns, 20mm Oerlikon guns and the three main turrets. The next video in this series will be a full build with the end product, so stay tuned! The build is based on the 1/350 scale Hobbybo...
BB-63 Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk
Переглядів 1,3 тис.9 місяців тому
This is the tenth installment in my build series of the BB-63 USS Missouri - "Mighty Mo". In this installment I am building the Seahawks that goes on the stern deck. I am sorry for the whining in this one, I was not happy with the kit planes, but I hope you like the outcome. Remember that this is 1/350 scale ;-) And I forgot, but I applied a filter at the end. 1/10 Insignia white, 1/10 Intermed...
Wow, exceptional kit for the master modeler.👍👍
It is a great kit for sure 😁
Holy crap...you are amazing..you build like I did years ago and would love to go back too... But I'm dealing with really bad PTSD and cancer so I try and still do what building I can... Love watching you its just amazing... Who's jig do you recommend for the ships... I think 🤔 you showed one at some point in one of your builds...let me know if you can... bless you and Merry Christmas ⛄🎄...and Happy New Year 🎉...
Thank you for those kind words! I am so sorry to hear about your health issues 😢 I hope that you are able to enjoy some modelling. The stands from Andrew3d.net are really good. God bless you and your family too! Merry Christmas 🎄
Where can you buy this?
The Pontos ones are part of the LHD-2 USS Essex kit that you can buy in some webshops, the others you can buy from 3d-wild.com.
Ha Kenneth, I was able to finish the starboard side thank you so much for your tips and building video! Now I started to the portside.. greetings from the Netherlands
Hi! Glad to hear that the videos are helpful to you 😁 Good luck with the port side, and happy modelling 👍
Which VMS flexy?
I use VMS Flexy 5K for PE
What CA do you use ??
I use VMS Flexy 5K for PE
Looks great
Thanks 😊
Hello, Nice buy ! Does it work anyway on the uss pinckney ddg-91? It's flight ll AA and I see on the box that flight ll to lll seems included
I think it is a good buy, a bit expensive. It is not for the Pickney, as you say it is Flight IIa, which this particular kit is not for. I have heard rumors that HS models are working on one for DDG-91.
Building this as well because of your unboxing video. Could you share what size lights you are using in the well deck?
Nice 👍 I am building the catwalks as we speak. Hope you enjoy the build as much as I do. The LEDs I have used are SMD 0201, so 0.6mm by 0.3mm.
Outstanding content and presentation of the build! Question: how did you 'blacken' the portholes on the superstructure, did you paint the surface black behind the photo etch or ... thanks
Thank you 😊 I usually drill out portholes, but sometimes I just brush paint them inside.
Thanks, presumably the hull portholes on this build were painted..
Oh brother somebody's going to kiss the donkey
Excellent for car displays - thank you for sharing your techniques!
I think so, glad you liked it 😊
Now that you have bought the bunkerstudio's mh60 product, why don’t you try their detail-up set for the arleigh burke, I do think it's much better than hsmodel in details especially the 3D print parts.
I am not aware that they have one.
Looks like it is the same as YZM, which I have bought as well 😉
@@NorwegianModellingBench yeah, I mean just YZM, it seems that in america and europe, bunker's studio is YZM's agent
@ That makes sense. The quality of the 3D prints are good, but with a total lack of instructions.
@@NorwegianModellingBench That's true, i have discussed this problem with the designer, he said he just doesn't have enough energy to design a detailed instruction. YZM is just a small individual workshop, he has to do all the work on his own. Actually I have noted many ideas with him, some are problems with released model sets, I think he just too busy to finish all these works.
Hobby boss
Yes it is?
I wonder how the new Trumpeter kit will compare? Will Trumpy get the Hull wrong AGAIN?
I would be surprised if they did get it right 😉😂
Hello mr normo!me as armormodeller must say,i have highest respect to the shipbuilders.with best regards and sticky greetings from sandy Brandenburg germany.faithfully yours.your modellmate.christian
Thank you, and the best wishes back to you 😊
Simply amazing detail
I totally agree on that point
WHOA! Awesome job and great video, thank you for sharing.
Thank you, glad to hear that you liked it 😊
Es tamiya ?
HobbyBoss and Pontos
Marvellous!😃😃
Thanks 😊
Sweet
Thanks 😊
Out of curiosity - what is the purpose of this water-screen in the background?
It catches overspray when airbrushing 😉
@@NorwegianModellingBenchthat was my thought. How do you find it's efficiency and performance? Thinking about getting airbrush but I do not have a full blown dedicated room unfortunately... Also what is the full name of that ? :D so I could go over google and find some models/vendors
@@Dantelemartez I am happy about it, the fan is powerful and I do not have much fumes and smell in the house when using it. The one I have is a Panzag HS-E600, but I have seen similar ones from other manufacturers.
Hello Kenneth, do you know if this kit is available in Europe stores ? In Holland where I live I can not find any store. Great kit to see you build 👍🏻😉
Have you checked Plastmodel.pl or Hannants?
i built this a few years back and i was highly disappointed with the decals provided in the kit
This kit is a Pontos one, combining the Trumpeter Wasp set and details from Pontos for LHD-2. The Trumpeter decals are not very good, but the ones from Pontos are good.
Amazing build beautiful work
Thank you 😊
What brand is the thin black brushes you use? I’d like some of those!
I have several; which one are you referring to?
Beautiful work there. Thanks for sharing it.
Thank you 😊
@@NorwegianModellingBench you're welcome 🙂 It makes me want to attempt something like this, but I doubt I'd be able to accomplish anything near what you have. Let's see what happens 😁
@@TheDavidPoole I am glad to hear that I might have inspired you to do an attempt 😁 That’s what I’m trying to achieve with my channel.
@@NorwegianModellingBench I've often thought about inserting a small camera, like the little spy cams that can be gotten cheaply, inside a model if there's detail inside a model that can't be seen. Don't know if it's feasible, but xthat might be a cool way to show things off. What do you think?
@@TheDavidPoole Could be a fun thing to try out. Not sure how the picture quality is on those. One can also use probe lenses for such pictures, but they are extremely expensive.
Lovely work as always! What are those purple blocks you're using for sanding?
Thank you 😊 They are DSPIA sanding sponges. Can be recommended!
@@NorwegianModellingBench Thanks! I will check them out
You added panel liner and aerial wires to a 1:200 scale aircraft? Both of these are difficult to see on 1:1 aircraft, and definitely invisible on something 8 million times smaller.
That is how it is with scale modelling. It is a wash not panel liner. For me it adds interest, so yes I did and I always will :-D
If you don't have daily lenses, try using plastic drink bottle lids to hold CA. They are waxed on the underside.
Good suggestion!
Great work!
Thanks 😊
Отличная работа. Обязательно буду смотреть Ваши выпуски.👍
Thank you 😊
Amazing works of art. Bravo!
Thank you very much 😊
Fantastisk flott arbeide 👍
Tusen takk 😊
A true craftsmen.
Thank you :-D
Excellent work 👍, on the LCAC's the black rubber hull, 17:39 it's called the bladder
Thanks! Ahh.. thank you for the clarification, that was not what I expected it to be named.
beautiful job ! This would make a great r/c sailing model , good hull shape ! Best wishes from Wales .😍😍
Thank you :-) Maybe, but it might be an issue with getting the well deck water tight. Have a great weekend!
Beautiful work!
Thanks 😊
I was on this ship and painted murals all over. From the alligator in the hangar bay to the ship on the mess decks and other areas. Cool to see you working on this.
That’s cool, maybe you can make some in 1/350 scale 😉
This is some of your best work. Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks! I think I have done quite a few mistakes on this one 😔
@@NorwegianModellingBench Artistic licensing. Looking forward to the next video.
@@willdyer3371 Thanks, have a great weekend!
Excellent work! Three years ago I started the USS Iwo Jima, got the well and hangar deck complete, had to wait for my LEDs to show, and never picked it up again. I'm hoping to complete in 2025 sometime. I don't usually leave projects uncompleted like that! But I will be following your build, as I plan on doing an amphibious assault diorama as well.
Thank you 😊 I hope my build will inspire you to get back at it.
Well done.
Thanks 😊
Excellent craftsmanship presented in a well made video 👍
Thank you very much! Glad you liked it :-D
@@NorwegianModellingBenchmax has some awesome videos too!
Looking fantastic! The lighting looks amazing.
Thank you! Tiny LEDs are a challenge, but I made it work at least. Glad that you liked it :-D
