I'm torn between Skoda Kamiq 1.5 150hp & the Hyundai Kona 1.6T 177hp. How would you compare them?
They are in the same price range in my country.
But Kona for example has multi link suspension in the back.
Kamiq, seems to have a better interior and more back space.
And maybe its just my speakers, but the skoda has less insulation between the motor and the saloon?
Kamiq is more practical

Im surprised the engine doesn't sound more characterful for 150bhp. The ride quality of this Skoda is very good though but id probably go for the Subaru XV instead for the boxer engine.

So sad that this little car is just as expensive as a Volvo V60 or a VW Passat.. I would love to buy it, but then it should be 15-18000 euro cheaper.
That's NOT true the Volvo V60 and VW Passat are much more expensive than the Kamiq! I don't know where you live but I doubt the Kamiq is as expensive as those two higher-end sedans, you should double-check before posting! Both the V60 & Passat start at €41.000 whereas the Kamiq starts at €24.000
@@640A It is not where it starts, it is where you get a car as the one tested and you can live with every day. A 1.5 with dsg, the big screen and digital dashboard etc.. Costs 45.000 euro. A brand new VW Passat stationwagon costs 47.000 euro. The limousine (4-doors) is even cheaper, and costs also 45.000 euro.

@@640A And to your orientation. I do know what I am writing about. I am a professional car dealer who trades +1000 cars every single year. And I have done that for the last 16-17 years. And as I just wrote initial, I love the new little Skoda, it is only the price I complain about.

Skoda always fails to attract buyers. Try new one skoda. So sad. Very costly sky above. Milagewise its sucks.

Wife has this car, I hate it, so many things are poorly designed, cheap or noisy. Could do a video and upload it. The list goes on and on....loud wipers, loud solenoid for wipers, strange shaped steering wheel, handbrake that covers buttons, terrible climate controls, rock hard arm rests, poor supporting seats, 1.5 has no torque under 2000rpm, air vents that don’t have a open close wheel unless you direct them away from you coupled with crap climate control. Lane assist that is always on at first start, cheap feeling door handles, really hard plastics in many places, tiny tiny rear view mirror, non adjustable centre arm rest that’s too low and small, no auto hold in an automatic, side mirror selector has a 2 second delay, wiper spray has a 2 second delay, infotainment full of bugs, no head up display option, steering is too light for longer distances, engine needs revs to go and is then loud. I drive it in sport mode and then it drives similar to my focus 120 diesel. Overall not good at all.
Iain My goodness, what a fusspot you sound. As for hard plastics, they last a lot longer than soft touch rubbish. Why do you need it ? When im driving im holding the wheel or gearstick, not feeling the dashboard and doors. Real drivers dont need fancy interiors. Car manufacturers love people like you. They aim their fashion cars at those who cant survive without all the gadgets, those who need soft materials everywhere, big infotainment screens, all the toys, pretentious trim on the body panels to make it look trendy, fake exhaust tips built into the rear bumper etc. Its all cleverly marketed codswallop and they know there are plenty gullible buyers that lap it up.
