Same for me. I can now imagine what tornment and frustration I need to go through with Ableton support. I didn't expect I find you when looking for this problem in UA-cam. I have some WMD Devices modules :). Nice jam - eurorack still reliable.
I like the angry techno the bricked push makes you produce. But for such a piece of expensive gear I would expect Ableton support to be more responsive.
There was a lot of good feedback when this launched but I’m very curious to see how this unit lasts over time. Ableton is a music software company that is now selling computers. I really hope they didn’t screw it up.
@@alx-106 dude, it’s so buggy. Had so many crashes. Same with my buddy here in Seattle who has one. Crashes all the time in stand alone. We are beta testers I guess. If I got that message from them I would flip, you can’t even access the reports
Spoke to Ableton support and bugginess is super common and I think they’re a bit embarrassed 😅 Regardless, my headphone port is busted so it’s going back.
I’ve just emailed Ableton asking for a refund. My unit feels like a beta product. Mine did exactly the same thing, it’s so disappointing. Ableton need to make a statement on this.
hey hey, Alex, I got mine, and it's not usable. Once I loaded a real project, not some demo, the unit is too slow, I did get support and increased the buffer size, but it still can't handle a project, which on my Mac CPU shows only 6% usage. the encoders are too slow for any live usage. the display lags 3-4 seconds on any change and now with a large buffer, I also have huge latency and still no improvement.
I've had a few bugs too. I've experienced the 2 scenes blinking at once. Also the Mod strip getting stuck in the top position on many occasions. Also sometimes the current playing clip does not show in the screen.
Got the same problem with the touchstrip. I guess it's heat related when the unit is connected to the mains or even a power bank the top left part of the unit is heating up A LOT! Anyway...the faulty unit is being replaced. However...Ableton support seems to be drowning in requests right now. My current ticket is over a week in the works...
I have some issues with my unit as well. It doesn’t work in controller mode. Only works in standalone as of right now and it crashed once. That’s a bummer on your unit man. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.
Interesting that you have the opposite behavior. It’s only been a week, so gotta give em the time, but just a bummer to have it like this out of the gate.
Have you first updated the Firmware and reset the device, as shown in the manual an the Push 3 Videos? Mine was buggy before the firmware Update. No problems now w/ the standalone unit
Yes. I updated the firmware right away. That’s good to hear yours is working well. Im sure it’s just an issue with my unit. I would just appreciate a response to my support ticket.
Damn, thats weird. First thing I did before powering it on was taking out the SSD and made a backup image. Dumped the image to a larger 2TB SSD and kept the original SSD in a safe place. I noticed a primary and secondary partition, and a large partition for the user Library. Its Linux based, so might be easy to fix unless its a real hardware issue. Hope your unit is fixed. I really like mine so far.
yep, mine does the same thing. YAY Push! I'm done with this pile of shit. A free night to finally do some creative jamming and this happened. Going outside to take the wood mall to mine. I will post the results.
Try this : Holding the User Mode button (last button of the four buttons on the top-left, to the right of the "light bulb"/help button) while powering up, gives you troubleshooting options. Maybe try this and choose the "Start Push in recovery mode" option if you're able to get that far.
Thanks! yeah, hitting recovery mode just sends it back into the boot loop. I got a return label yesterday. Sending it back as soon as I get a shipping box the right size as I put the one that mine came in in the recycle bin the first night and it got picked up the next morning lol.
No one has ever released a standalone that was not buggy on release, you just can’t test it enough. Although I head that the beta was tested extensively for over two years with lots of people!
Its really unfortunate. Push 2 is such a kickass tool. I feel that they really "pushed" 11.3 and push 3 out too soon. I don't have any need for a stand alone push, but I was hoping that its launch would bring more usable functionality to LIVE. Looks like both are buggy and in a pre ALPHA state. As a developer and project manager I have seen it way too many times and its painful for both the endpoint as well as the design team. Hope there was a learning moment somewhere in the chaos.
Thank you! Yes, this is one of the couple prototypes WMD has made so far. William is hoping to have it out by the end of the year, but is still sorting out manufacturing…
What's your bass and kick modules? I was listening through the car speakers and they're hitting right without any eq. P.S. I went through the same thing with Akai.. I think it takes them a few years to get the hardware to work perfectly with the software..at least customer service didn't have you on speaker complaining about going to lunch..
For bass/kick I’m just using the WMD Crater, with a long decay to fill the low end. Thanks! I know it’s always a little rough adopting a brand new product, and time will help. I always wanted to get into force, but I just don’t trust akai very much… have had a few of the newer mpcs and never really fell in love with em.
@@alx-106 yeah I had the akai touch..before the one...I believe they backdoored my computer to figure out stability on there new products, but can't prove it..when I noticed the touch suddenly working in Ableton years ago I knew they were up to something...admittedly I loved it...but the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth with glitchy software....unfortunately it's a taste you now know..I wanted the force as well..but Mpe on the new push seemed game changer...I love Ableton for sound design..thanks for posting honestly was considering push standalone as an option but going to wait it out, for 2 grand it should have a full version of Ableton, Akai I trolled so much I have most of what I want in the new products 🤣 Those old vsts were horrendous and on the touch I did notice a "sound"..The war on my experience Akai started years ago low key on a late night with question well known UA-camr..🤫 don't tell anybody..Nobodyeven knew it was all the same software until I told them🤭..years later I get what I want and decide to go back..Hope the road back to standalone Push works out for both of us. I got a replacement and returned it as it was buggy and the interface was not for me. I spent the same amount on a m2 mbp and haven't looked back. I'm using bigwig mostly as it is better suited for hardware integration imo
It’s not truly a stand alone. Until it can load your plugins from the computer. It can be done. They just don’t want to do it. Sorry to hear it broke in ya tho.
I don’t really use any third party plugins so that doesn’t really bother me. Ableton a devices are great for what I do, and for live sets, I’d be happy with audio loops for anything that’s necessary with.
I just discovered your channel through this video, and subbed because of your angry techno performance
