You are supposed to apply aileron into the wind (in this case to the right side of the aircraft) soon after touchdown in a crosswind to prevent that side of the aircraft from rising. It was probably a little too much but it's the right thing to do.
Are you sure you haven't speeded up this footage a little? It's true that the crew will add a bit of airspeed for more "control authority" in wind shear. But some of these airplanes seem to be moving very fast. Anyway, it's interesting to see a 747 almost land on its nose-gear.
Seems with a higher speed they have less trouble with the wind. You can see the difference very well between the low speed approach and higher speed approach landings. The higher speed ones are less affected because the wind has less grip on them due their speed.
@@tombchaser When making landings in gusty weather the Vref always gets a higher value then calculated by the aircraft. This is to make sure that the IAS doesn't go below stall speed, for example when the 27 kt gusty wind suddenly stop, then the IAS can drop really quickly which can lead to speeds below the stall speeds.
Is it just me, or do these planes appear to be forced to come in at higher speed than normal in order to be able to fight the crosswinds and turbulence? Which I assume makes each landing even MORE dangerous.
Answering my own question, I searched with Google and found this: On take-off with gusting winds it will be required that you keep the aircraft on the ground somewhat longer to provide a higher margin from the stall. During landing you must add half the gust factor to your final approach speed. Thus if tower reports the wind 240 at 18 gusts 28 it is advisable to add 5 kts to your airspeed.
Why would would they land planes in that kinda weather... I always thought a certain cross wind speed and they couldn't land the plane safely I might add
Awesome footage! How'd the business jet go so smoothly? I was on a flight July 25th landing at Heathrow in British Airways' 787, and it was quite stormy there too! It did the roll at the end like KLM Asia, but less severe!
Alabama Embry I lived more than 10 years in Amsterdam, and believe me, there are min. 9 months rain of wind in Amsterdam. Holland is the land of wind! Amsterdam is a difficult place to land... I have really bad experiences for Amsterdam schiphol...
Nice landing to my pride of Africa ! Team Kenya airways. Proud of you
They really did best of all in the compilation, surprisingly. The dutch should have been more used to such weather.
+Сергей Воробьев iT was then much heavier wheater
Сергей Воробьев dont know but the most plains seems like the same landing
Alain Kayembe my mom is from Jamaica
considering everything, those pilots did an amazing job with alot of those landings...awesome
Amazing landing at 4:15, a nicely executed 747 landing is always beautiful.
Great video. Wow that KLM 747 at 4:26 that was weird tilt to the right after touchdown.
+Izmael1310 that was a close windstrike

Overlord it was just a big gust of wind then
I've watched a lot of videos like this, and this is one of the best!!!
The Kenya Airways landing at 5:45 is spectacular...
+edwin njakai Yeah they definitely looked on there game
+edwin njakai The AirBridgeCargo flight was spectacular as well!!

That KQ 777 landed as if it was not stormy. Good landing
ahayeahohyeah very smooth!!
KQ and KLM handled the landings quite well; kudos kwao!
Great video! Thanks. Will miss you KLM 747.
Wow! Amazing footage of these stormy approaches and landings!
God bless the skill of these wonderful pilots!
Some really breathtaking moments here. Kudos to the pilots.
Lekker Compilation mijn vriend! You did a awesome camera work! Cheers from Hamburg
Thumbs up for great pilots, great video.
What airmanship! And great filming!
Wauw, wat een video. Die 747 op 04:20 wordt gewoon opgetild! Ongekend! Jammer dat ik toen nog niet filmde. Dikke LIKE

+Nonoatfirst I agree very cool vid, but there is no reason to speed it up, hopefully next time in normal speed :)
I knew the KLM 738 was going to go around, he was way hot.
Fantastic! B737 rarely disappointing :)
Turkish Airlines, amazing, impeccable. Good job!!!
0:54 Kids, this is why you check your airspeed
I think they tried to make a very fast landing and there are more groundeffect because of the sidewind as expected

I almost reached on that day. But due to some reason, I decided to come to Netherlands a month later. Phew!
0:05 that was exactly the landing that i had in Amsterdam! 😂
Wow! The first happened nearly the same with a KLM 777 a few months ago :)
Большое спасибо за чёткое и ясное видео!!!
The 737-700 was crazy at 1:02 and the smaller one after that was awesome
Mooi gefilmd en moeilijke landings! Ga zo door!

My heart goes out to people sitting in those planes specially nervous fliers
Spetacular landing of KLM 747-400 at 04:10
What did I learn from this video? That pilots landing at this airport carry their testicles around in wheelbarrows!
Thumbs up to the Kenya Airways crew!
God is always watching and everyone there on those planes he had his hands on!!!!
Wow! I've never seen a jumbo jet perform a go-around before.
Atlas global airlines looked like it had a gentle bounce!
guys, I have a question, why they all look like landed much faster than in the sunny day? is it because the crosswind?
Is it just me, or do these planes appear to be forced to come in at higher speed than normal in order to be able to fight the crosswinds and turbulence? Which I assume makes each landing even MORE dangerous.

Brilliant from Kenya Airways
OMG The first KLM
wow, nice video.... thanks for standing over hours in that shit wether and filming it for us.... :))

I'm loving it !! hart stopping !!!!
heb je een video van de take off van de arke 787 dreamliner OR367??

nice video! Liked!
Second 0:01 at the beginning: How it could be that the sun appears between the clouds????? Really... It's completely mind-blowing at least for me.
perhaps the farest cloud has less density...

Great captures! Btw: how was your lunch- it sounded delicious😜
Approach angle and touch down of front wheel were excellent by Kenya Airways 6:04

Excellent

I would hate to be in that small private jet plane
in my opinion, he did the smoothest landing of all. (a380 was cool though)
Lol that private jet was able to get it down while the 737 klm had to go around. The private jet and the kenya 777 had the best landings.
