Missed the games today. Always a joy to watch Magnus play chess. I really, really hope that Magnus decides to defend his world championship title. Only Magnus knows how much suffering that comes with the territory. I think it might feel right to give away the title at the top of his game, unbeaten as a world champion. I fear that as time passes this decision will be a thing to regret. I think the matches improves the level of Magnus in classical chess. The new ideas from the preparation proves valuable for later use. Perhaps it is a possible to do thing differently, in preparation to make the prosess even more smooth, and use the strength gained by beating Nepo to crush the next challenger. All we ask is one last dance Magnus:)
@@KKSuited Yes, it sure looks that way. The only hope is if Alireza Firouzja wins the canditates. Since the decision is not final, I thought it good to send some support for Magnus to think it through further, but I do understand his feeling regaring this.
1-2 million dollars for 12 games is not worth the squeeze? But normal tourney and online games are? Not to mention the advertising opportunities and everything else that comes with being world chess champion? I mean it's Magnus. He could probably do no prep or just one day of opening prep and still be able to win comfortably as long as he's in shape. Only Ding or Fabi could probably give him a real fight. I'm not sure what Alirezas score is vs Magnus, but I don't think he's anywhere close to winning a 12 game match vs Carlsen. My personal pick is Ding since he always seems to get decent positions vs Carlsen coming out of the middle games, and he has a decent head to head score iirc. Also, gotta thank Karjakin for getting himself banned, since that allowed my boy Ding to take his place in the candidates, with Ding massing like 20-30 games in the last few weeks just to qualify. Lol
It's scary how composed Magnus plays. He creates this monstrosity on the board the black has to struggle to squeeze out of and as soon as you think he's going for the killing blow, he chills out, keeps the tension, and wins the game off of a few final pawn moves. What a player
It feels completely unnatural the way they avoid saying the coordinates of pieces and moves. Whoever makes them do it should consider trusting the audience that they will get the hang of it.

Except it’s a simple tactical shot. 1. Bxe4! Bxc6 2. Nxc6 Qd7 3. Bxd5! and the bishop is untouchable due to Ne7+, so White gets two phenomenal minor pieces and a pawn for a rook and is extremely close to winning.
