Idk why people comment that people are sleeping on Ilia. Nobody is sleeping on Ilia. Everyone knows that he is good. But Ilia hasn't faced anyone good besides an 80% Volk. Every fighter that faced Ilia just stood in front of him and had no movement. Max's MMA IQ is got to be one of the best if not the best in the whole UFC. Ilia is still growing and is young and while he acts like he knows everything but he is far from being a fighter with a high of an IQ as Max. Ilia has great boxing IQ but this isn't boxing, this is Mixed martial arts. Ilia has good leg kicks but as we seen with Max, leg kicks don't phase him. He went 5 rounds with the hardest kicker in Yair and Yair was on crutches at the end of the fight while Max was walking fine. The only way Ilia has a chance at winning is if he knocks Max out. If he doesn't do that by round 3, Max will drown him in rounds 4 and 5 by out pacing him and using his cardio to outlast Ilia. Ilia has never fought 5 rounds and Max is the king of 5 rounders. Ilia won't have that knockout power after Max tires him out and out scores him. We might even see Max knocking out Ilia. Everyone thinks Max is the same fighter that lost to Volk 3 times. He's changed his game tremendously and like Khabib said, only now Max is starting to hit his prime. When Max was champ he wasn't even in his prime at 27. But now at 32, Max is in his prime and going to take that belt back. Ilia will have the shortest reign as a featherweight.
Max is more than capable, but ilia is is too. Matter of fact, ilia has more paths to victory than max does. Topuria is a far superior grappler with a more well rounded skill set.
