Just want to say this video is just what I needed today. Been working crazy hours at a stressful job while helping care for my dad after my mom passed away from cancer earlier this year. It’s been an extremely exhausting last couple of months and just constantly feeling on edge but honestly have to say this video has a very serene calming affect. Most relaxed I’ve felt in weeks.
I’m 64. I’ve had some adventure in life. Just released a book on Amazon, “Losing Sight, Gaining Vision.” However, as a youth, before UA-cam and the like, I read. I would read about people doing what you’ve done. It was a dream. Thank you for letting me see dreams come to fruition. So amazingly wonderful.
1st time here. Love your films. Watching you all the way from Scotland. My son would have loved to live this way. He was a a keen fisherman. Sadly he lost his life at the age of 22. That was a year and a half ago. Ill keep watching in his memory. Rest in peace my boy Craig. ❤
Hey man I just wanted to say that you, and Dick Proenneke of course, have been a big inspiration to me. I’ve always dreamed of building my own cabin in Alaska but never thought I would actually be able to bring it to fruition. That is until you shared your journey with all of us showing that it’s possible. Now I’m 30 years old and I just moved up here from Utah earlier this year and purchased 5 acres in Willow. I will begin building a 16x24 cabin this summer. Thanks for the inspiration. I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and thoroughly enjoy them. Keep up the good work. Maybe one day we’ll cross paths. Cheers mate.
@@alaskacabinadventuresThanks man! Yessir, I’m right off willow-fishhook. Wish I could pull something off a little more out there like you but I’ve got a commute 👎 I’m still very happy with the location though!
Matt, I just LOVE getting “Lost” in your videos!!! I know some don’t like the no talking but there are times that I LOVE it!! The Talkie’s are good too!!! Keep up the great work for Alaska!!
A lovely way to spend 1 1/2 hours, great to see you clean the glass in your stove so few people do, half the magic of a stove is to be able to see the flames.
This video was one of your best! Watching how your family (you, your wife, Norman, and now your daughter) have learned to create a Family! Congratulations and keep believing. Dad
Omg!!!! You sound like me! I read this and said “did I already comment on this video?” Holy cow, and they were my exact words to another video by a young couple. Well, honestly, I was this in no one else, but I’m so glad I’m not alone with my regrets if…… not living life while I was young enough to. I’m believing God will turn it around while we are still here but, we always have eternity with Him
Truer words have never been spoken. Hard but peaceful living and the path I wish I had taken at one point. I grew up in the rural foothills of the Sierra Nevada’s in California and dreamed about doing something like this but just never happened.
I think that people that don't live in an extremely snowy area, would find it hard to imagine how difficult the work is. Just to maintain a normal life, you have to work so much. Kudos to you for making it look fairly easy, and keeping up with your homestead, home and dog. As someone that used to live in eastern Washington state, I personally am quite impressed!
You shoveled, cleaned up some stuff, you shoveled the next day, cleaned more stuff and played with the dog. Then you are making a meal and show an outside view…it’s snowing! Looks like more shoveling to do. This life keeps you busy. You are doing it well. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Hello 2025. I like watching videos with snow. It's beautiful. Even though I don't know the language, I like to watch it. I'm rooting for you. I'm from Thailand.
I watch your videos from France and here it is very complicated to live isolated in the forest.... but I am saving to buy land to plant trees and build a cabin, you are a source of inspiration for me, happy new year ❤
Crazy that you know Timmy from truck house living, i have been watching his channel for a while now. You do a great job like he does building your cabins. Very interesting and great videos you’re putting out
Really great photography and editing skills here. It's nice when you see someone's put in a lot of effort into the quality of their content. Thanks dude, I really enjoy these films. Now I want to be in a log cabin in the middle of nowhere enjoying the peace and quiet with nothing more than a good fire and a whiskey!
Wonderful to go down memory lane again & once again see how you expanded your beautiful property. A lot of hard work but I'm sure so worth it. Thoroughly enjoy your Alaskan videos & hopefully we will see many more.
It's 11 pm right now in Southern New Jersey. There is about an inch or two of snow on the ground. I'm off to sleep and hopefully dream of snow up to my knees, a dog by my side, a cat waiting in the cabin for a cuddle and the fire I started a bit ago. Your way of living has been my dream ever since I first watched Mr. Proenneke years ago and read his journal. When I found your channel, I was delighted. Thank you for sharing and making my dream come true through you. I hope you continue to let us join you far into the future. Happy New Year to you and your family.
Absolutely Beautiful!! I sure miss the change of seasons now being in San Diego. Your cabin is just wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy Those Snowflakes.
I really appreciate this video of your life and times of building, chopping wood, fishing, cooking, and most importantly, your dog. It is such a joy to see the beauty of the land ,snow, rain, and summer. 🥰 all the seasons love it all🌹

HI MATT - Thanks for all your great videos...they are fun & relaxing for me to watch, plus your family and, of course, NORMAN! I forgot to make a suggestion in the video when you found a "critter" had gotten into Norman's kibble under the sink.......being an old horse person, we learned to put any kind of feed in metal containers with a snug fitting lid (a miniature garbage can would be perfect). just a thought. Thanks again for the great videos. GOD BLESS....😊❤😊
Great vid. For all those want a be off gridders, just watch this. It's a lot easier. I grew up off grid so not so much new for me. I also lived in Alaska so big snow is nothing new. 69 below F in Delta Junction. Pretty cold no matter where you are from. It can be tough. It can be deadly tough. You do a great job. Have to bring you some more of that Kentucky home brew out of the charred oak barrels. Make a river of it here. Beautiful main cabin. and guest cabin. You did an excellent job on them. Lot of interesting vids through the year. Watched I think all of them. Hell of a lot of work to live off grid. Never flip the switch without thinking about it. I lived it too. Think nothing of it. Just things you do naturally to get by day to day, season to season. Wonderful ending. Time sure flies. My baby will be 35 in just a few weeks. Enjoy and savor every moment. Great respect. All good from east Kentucky USA. Take care. Next time. Keep picking.
