CTM 360° - Morton Subotnick & Lillevan - »As I Live and Breathe«

Experience an immersive recording of Morton Subotnick performing his composition »As I Live and Breathe« together with video artist Lillevan.
Produced in high-definition 360° VR video, the video is best be experienced via VR-glasses, but also works great via mobile devices with gyroscope sensors, or on your desktop computer (use WASD keys to to control the camera, and the +/- keys to zoom in and out).
Morton Subotnick - intermedia artist, electronic music pioneer, and developer of one of the world's first modular analogue synthesizers together with Don Buchla - was featured in a special event that paired a world premiere screening of the official bio-documentary, Subotnick: Portrait of an Electronic Music Pioneer, with a rare live performance of »As I Live and Breathe,« one of Subotnick's last performance pieces, which he presented together with stunning live visuals from longtime collaborator Lillevan.
»As I Live and Breathe« is the result of a technique and process of the last decade of Subotnick's creativity, which to the composer feels will be the ultimate fulfillment of his public performance; one of the last, if not the last, of his public performance works. Centered around Subotnick’s breath - which becomes ever more musically and visually ornamented, only to end with a single, exhaled breath - the work is meant as a musical metaphor for the composer’s life in music.
The event took place on 3 November 2022, and was presented by CTM Festival, Ableton, and Waveshaper Media, the Toronto-based production company behind Subotnick and the acclaimed modular synthesizer documentary I Dream Of Wires (as seen on Netflix / SkyArts).
