I recently cycled from Headingley to Whitehaven, via Wrynose Pass and Hardknott..decided to use my Ribble 8 speed steely rather than my R5. 140 miles-ish of pain, headwinds and doubt…all worth it for the beauty of the Lakes and the fat coffee in Whitehaven 👍
It’s an amazing place the Lakes, we go there every year in July for the last 9 years. Honnister is beautifully savage. Amazing effort covering those climbs in one day.
Great place to revisit year after year. Don’t blame you at all for doing that. Is it just cycling you do around there or do you hike around there as well? Thanks mate. Beautiful scenery, made the effort totally worth it.
I’ve heard some people say that the other side is more difficult than this side of Honister. Is that a fair call? Or not? I’ve got a few more to tick off up there. Blea Tarn, The Struggle and Hardknott!
@@andrewon2wheels one is hard at the bottom and easier up top and the one you did is obviously the opposite. I’m heavy and think the North side is harder. But they are both very hard. And the bottom on the South side is utterly brutal.
Incredible how England can have such stunning views ! But the radiant 🥵🥵 gives me sweat just by looking at you struggling to climb it ! It looks so amazing, I wish I could have the same landscapes where I am !
Once you get out of the cities, the uk has some stunning scenery. Especially if you get lucky with the weather! Where are you based? Haha the gradients. We don’t do many super long climbs like the rest of Europes cycling hot spots. But we do have a lot of steep roads. Proper sharks tooth routes.
@@andrewon2wheels Near Rochefort, Charente-Maritime, France, the landscape is very flat and there's not much of mountains or anything like that. But it's still a beautiful place
Next up Hardknott, Wrynose & Kirkstone (edit) via the struggle! Great video, looked epic and nice to see the sky a bit. Of those three I like Newlands the best, but coming from the other direction, then up Honister. But you can’t go wrong in that part of the Lakes.
Later this year I’m going to be doing the Hardknott and Wrynose Pass double double. Looking forward to it and dreading it in equal measure! 😂😂 Newlands is a great climb. The other side looked awesome as I descended it. Love that! 🙌🚴♂️ Haven’t heard of Kirk Fell. What’s that one like?
Yep, that was a typo. I was thinking about a walk I did one time, cycled to Wasdale head then up to Red Pike, Pillar, Kirk Fell, Great Gable. Hell of a day. Next day I did Hardknott and Wrynose before driving home. Back then I was fitter and lighter.

Well done, my local roads and you captured them on a great weather day :-)
Thanks mate.
Weather was epic for the ride. Very lucky!
I wish these were my local roads! They’re stunning!
Great video!
Thanks mate. Glad you enjoyed it. I really enjoyed the ride myself. One of my favourites. Highly recommend cycling around there!
I class that as a ✅ for honister
Yes 🙌 💪🚴♂️
Thanks mate. ☺️
Honister is my favourite of the Northern Lakes climbs, but now you'll have to comeback and climb it from the other side too!

You’ve sold it! It’s a must ride! Need to do that at some point!
Great route 👌
That's me and my mate your telling to keep going down honister. The head wind up honister that day was horrendous.
Haha hey mate.
That was a great days riding. That headwind at the top was horrendous. Did you both get up it with that headwind?

@@LITELOT shame there is no mountains near you. Aren’t there any within a decent train ride or drive to try out? Or just too far to do?

That sounds like a lot of peaks for a 1 day hike! Fair play!
Well done mate good effort getting starting again Honister really steep
Thanks mate.
Was glad for my low gearing so I was able to start again.
