Julie Andrews losing her voice was such a shame, what a talent. Also Elton John had vocal surgery in the 80s and his vocal register noticeably lowered after, though he still sounds great as a baritone 👍🏽

No. Elton John was a tenor in 1988 but became a baritone in 1989. He did sound amazing until 1998, which was when his voice just got a bit worse. Luckily, Elton didn’t sound too bad in 1999, but he basically gone through puberty the year before. And in 2003, his voice started sounding a bit worse and different after a concert in Sundsvall, Sweden. In 2008, his singing phrasing got pretty bad and now Elton sounds bad.

One of the saddest cases of an amazing singer losing their voice not listed here in this video would be that of Jose Jose. After constant singing non stop for 30 years and combined with alcoholism he damaged his voice so irreversibly bad. I recommend taking a look into his story!

    Update on Celine Dion.
    Diagnosed with SPS :-(
Sadly this has damaged her voice, which we have seen with many reschedulings and cancellations.
I hope her voice will recover because seeing her last video explaining this was absolutely heartbreaking😢😢
Seeing her cry and braking down.
    She needs to protect herself…❤

Agreed, as ain Airway expert and somone with a PhD in paeidaitrc airway, I do enjoy listening to vocal couches talk about vocal pathology and impact. However, what irks me is when obtuse lay people throw out random words and nonsencial terms to simply hate on MC,

I have multiple Tick born infections. At one point singing became extremely painful. Thankfully I had years of SLS training so I was able to find ways to sing without pain. My range decreased horribly. At one point I was at less than an octave. After years of antibiotics I'm now in a stable place. My mix voice is horrible, but I'm going to work the exercises and see if it can improve.

Julie Andrews' story always make me sad. 😟
And while I'm not a singer, I've had a similar experience to Miley Cyrus. Certain notes are now gravely or don't hit the way they did when I was younger and I blame it on reoccurring bouts of laryngitis caused by colds. 😕

I have it as well. Change your diet and eat/drink fewer acid foods/drinks. Once per day, take pantoprazole or another PPI before eating and sodium alginate + sodium potassium after you eat. Rest your voice. I'm currently on my first week of treatment and it's getting better though I think it'll take more time to fully recover. I'm not a doctor so hear a specialist before taking any drug. Best of luck

After the Covid, my voice gets attacked quite often... Recently went to an ENT. He says complete vocal rest for 2 months, steam and a medicine to fix bacterial attacks... But i do need prayers pls!

    • @heythere6983
      @heythere6983 4 місяці тому

Complete, meaning no talking at all? I did total vocal rest for A few weeks once and I had to then to therapy for speech to get back to a normal place.
I would go to a singing ent , meaning one who works with just the voice and singers. I had one told me they don’t do super long vocal rests only 3 days which is weird to me. But I would simply get a second opinion because any part of the body not used for long will atrophy

Deaf people can still sing. I saw a professional singer on TBN, (a Christian TV channel in America for all the international users in the comments) and she still sounds great despite losing her hearing. She just has to read her music and use a special deaf-friendly tuner now.

JON BON JOVI is a great example of a singer falling from grace.
Even on his best days, the guy can barely carry a tune anymore. he needs to take time off, see a vocal coach, and give up those goddamn cigarettes!!
