“WHIP THE EGGS LIKE THEY STOLE YOUR LUNCH MONEY” 😹😹😹💀
I've lived in the south all my life, had no idea you could fry up red tomatoes, too! Good deal!!!! They look amazing, btw!
The way I was taught was very close to this, except we add a couple tablespoons of sugar to the flour along with the other spices, and we don't use that much oil. This makes the tomatoes brown much faster, but contain less oil. Did I mention that Mom always used half oil, half bacon fat.
Just made these for supper..they were outstanding ! Very easy, and your tip about NOT using paper towels to drain them on was great,I have never not used paper towel. Now I know why my fried green tomatoes were soggy ..thanks for sharing.
This is amazing! I didn’t really have all of the ingredients on hand but my janky college student-version still turned out really good, which is saying something. I’d love to try this again later when I can use actual breading ingredients and can oil-fry it instead of pan-frying it.
Love tomates. Those look great.
Thanks for sharing. I tried your recipe with Masa mix (refined corn flour so no need to actually use regular bleach flour) and it came out excellent. I love using Masa for making homemade sopes AND other Dominican meals.
I feel the need to run home and check my tomato plants. Looks super good!
Lord I LOVE Tomatoes! Those maters were beautiful & so red! I've done this before & they are so super good! They'd also be great on a burger! YUMO! Great video Wolfe & TFS :))
You have made my day and I look forward to you doing so again over and over! I love this channel already and can't wait to see more!
Thank you Chris I appreciate it!
Love these!
Thank you so much for this recipe! I love friend green tomatoes & Looking forward to frying the red ones! I recall having the fried tomatoes fried part ripe & Part green those are also delicious!
Thanks again for another great video, Larry!
That looks really delicious. Thanks for providing this.
Larry, I must admit that I've never been a fan of the fried green tomatoes, but I really love this idea!! We are definitely giving these actry!! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe.
Thanks Laurice!
oh I can't wait til my tomatoes are ready and I will be trying this. yum
I’m from the Deep South and I’ve always fried red tomatoes. My family has never tried it and think I’m weird but they are so delicious!
Looks great, thanks for the idea...
Thanks! Hope you enjoy!
Never had fried tomatoes green or red, don't think I've ever seen them even on a menu here in Broncos County but have seen them on every Southern food video you ever see, even a movie they used them in the title of. I'll give them a try next time we fire up the fryer.
Thanks for sharing Larry, great video
Never had fried red tomatoes, but I can see where that would be really good Larry!
Hope you give them a try Rus and put Smoky Ribs twist on them!! Thanks for watching!
Just made these. Delishous!
That looks so delicious.
Larry, thanks for a flash back of over 40+ years ago, and how in my youth we had such great food and Mom cooked it, home made.... No micro waves, no drive thru's.I can't wait for Sunday morning, this will be my breakfast.
Yeah buddy, my mother or father always had something good cooking on the stove and not in the microwave!! Thanks Joe!
I loooove this!!!
i have to give this a try, thanks for the info
Awesome cook, they look perfect!!!
Thank you Michelle!

Thank you Jeanette!
Looks good, Larry. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Carlos!!!
My mother and memaw always made fried red tomatoes and I prefer them to the green. They are heaven when dipped in homemade buttermilk ranch dressing 🤤
You helped me so much thank you
They taste very good
Love the recipe and the egg beating, lolol. Tyfs, God bless
Love it
Larry, they look so good! Never had them before 😃
Thanks Jonny! You should give them and the green ones a try!!
Larry, your fried RED tomatoes are breathtaking! They look wonderful! What a challenge you present though. I'll bet I could make these low-carb. I have a couple of ideas swirling around in my head (there's quite a bit of empty space in there for that). Thanks for sharing this mouthwatering recipe!
Thank you John! I think using two layers of crushed pork rinds would give a nice crispy crust to make them low carb!
Long time no hear from Mr. Larry, I think I would like this recipe of fried tomatoes better than the green ones. Thank you.
Thank you Alisa! Yeah I had some things going on that needed to be taken care of, but now I'm back! Hope you enjoy these!!
Looks so good Larry. Now I was thinking of a feast. My favorite Veggies too. Yum
Thanks Don!
I make these for my family and they love them!
Glad everyone likes them Mia! Thanks for watching!
Wow that's just different enough from the way I was taught to make them over 35 years ago up here in Canada.
Also just to be different enough myself I have never had a fried green tomato...in my mind it's an unripe tomato and would be too firm in consistency and maybe bitter in taste. I've been too afraid of trying it and tainting my view on what tomatoes should taste like. Lol
I was taught to use the same type of tomato but I use just egg well beaten and coat the tomato slices in bread crumbs and pan fry them in a lightly greased pan with either butter or bacon fat. I then chop them up on my plate and salt and pepper them and serve them with bacon and buttered toast.
They also go great as a side dish with a nice juicy prime rib steak or even a juicy pork chop or a chicken dish.
Looks so good Larry!!! Never tried fried tomatoes!
You should try them Julia!!! Thanks!
Never tried them , red that is! But you can bet I will Larry,Thanks!
Looks excellent Larry :-) A "BIG" thumbs up and right into my CULINARY playlist :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!
Thanks my rocking brother!
Your welcome :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!
Yum! Fried green tomatoes are good, but sometimes bitter. Ready to try these
Please let me know how you like them! Thanks for watching!
I've crossed this bready way into something added as a side or considered whole with additional receipe with secret sea food and or meat to platterize.
Great video Larry! Who would have thunk it? Fried tomatoes are great in any color. I've always wanted to try the fried red tomatoes, just never pulled the trigger. I'm gonna give this a try!! They look delicious!!!👍🏻
Thanks Brad! Yes, any color will work as long as they're firm!!
Nice lookin' maters, Larry. Bet they would go great on a BLT or even as a pizza topping. Thanks!
now you are talking to my heart and stomach ....i love fried green tomatoes , i got to try this one too.
Thank you, hope you enjoy! I don't know why but every time I read 'yardsausage' I laugh!!
Thank you 😉
Hi, Larry. Those tomatoes look fantastic. I can't believe you're already at over 70,000 subscribers. What makes a recipe look and taste good? Have a good day, good buddy. Give Julie Steindel my thanks.
Thank you Byron!
This is the way that I love them! Better than green!
One of my favorite treats is just garden tomatoes and onions eaten together. Maybe I'll give these a try and sneak a few onion petals in with em. Looks great!
I like the way you're thinking Michael!! Thanks for watching!
I made these the other day. Only difference is I like a little smoked paprika in the dry mix. Looked real good Larry.
Smoked paprika sounds good!!! Thanks!!
Red tomatoes instead of green. So cool!
I've NEVER heard of frying red tomatoes, and I've lived in de sooth all my life. Why did I never get the memo?
Fascinating, and I have some firm fresh ones in the fridge as I type...
YOU obviously were not in the know.......and/or lived on the wrong side of the tracks! LOL For some reason even in the South red ones are not that popular....Give them a try John, it's a nice different change to the green ones! Thanks for watching!
i never understood the green tomato thing but this i can understand. great video.
Yeah people that don't like the green ones will probably like these! Thanks for watching!
Wow! Looks delicious. :)
Thank you!
Looks awesome Larry!! Glad to see you're back... I was going through withdrawals!! lol :-P
Thank you Ray! Glad to be back!!
Great idea Larry! Green tomatoes being readily available 'round here in the summer, seems what you got there would be a good way to use supermarket tomatoes, as they are usually under ripe anyway... I didn't set out tomatoes this year - just as well, been under a drought most of the summer...
We didn't do any tomatoes either Randy, good thing here too....no rain and BRUTALLY HOT! Thanks for watching!
Do you think I can use Louisiana seizing fish fry to coat my tomatoes? I'm asking because I like that spicy fish fries for face and shrimp and the crust comes out crispy but either way I'm going to try either way to
Yes, that will work. But maybe add a little cornmeal for some extra crunch. Tomatoes have a lot of moisture and the cornmeal holds up a bit better. Thanks and please let me know how you like them!
Looks delicious.😁 My mother is from the south and makes fried green tomatoes. She is going to try your red tomatoes recipe. She will let you know how she likes it.
You never let us know
We tried the fried red tomatoes tonight, they were very good. I have never heard of it before. But come to think of it what else are you to do with the hot house tomatoes that are sold in the winter at all the grocery stores across America.
We only have a couple tomato plants but I've been watering them about every day and feeding them every 2 weeks ( also throw some Epsom salt around them about every 2 weeks too ) and they are packed now... I've been trying to avoid eating too much bread ( toasted bread and tomato sandwiches ) but I love breaded green tomatoes... and this made my day
Thank you !
Try making them after frying bacon use the grease to fry the tomatoes in. Thanks for your video. Im making them tommorrow. I hope they turn out good for my boyfriend!
looks good did anyone try it?how it taste is it good?
Hmm. I have never thought of using red tomatoes. LOL
Looked great.
Thanks Chris!
Thanks
That looks crazy good. I really like your slicing knife :D Gimme gimme - what is it? :D
I have been craving the green one lately....need some local maters.
right on jack
Thanks Drew!
Larry is back!
YES!!! lol
Nothing like fried green (unripe) tomatoes! When I slice my red tomatoes, I rest them on paper towels, to soak up a lot of the juices. I really look forward to having these very soon.
Green are my favorite too Tammie! Thanks for watching!
yummy!!
Thank you!
are fried red tomatoes just as good as fried green tomatoes? Which one do you prefer? I crave fried green tomatoes all the time lol but sometimes it's hard to find them.
I have never seen anybody fry red tomato's.
Ok, something new to learn.
Sprinkle with sugar. Yum!!
What kind of cooking oil are you using?
I am making this
Where you been, I had to make sure I was still subscribed to your channel lol
LOL! I've been around and not feeling great....feeling a bit better now! Thanks Shanta!
This look great. What do you do with the used oil?
Thanks! Toss it in an old coffee can.
I need to try that! I have plenty of maters outside!
You maybe able to bake these in the toaster oven Jim?
Oh yum!😋
Thanks Colin!
LOL...I mean, what more can you say about pure, delicious perfection? Ah mean to try this recipe in a short while when the beautiful beef-steak tomatoes come out. Ahm droolin' jes thankin' ' bout it! ❣😎💥⭐️🎉
wow that is looking so good. I stoped eating meat 4months ago .... btw congrats on 70k !!!
Oh no! No meat?? :-( Thanks I never thought I'd have 70k!
+TheWolfePit You gonna have 100k soon ! yea no meat for some time i might eat it again lol . love the tomato video
Late to the party on this I know, but it’s the best fried red tomatoes out there, and I tried them.
Thanks!
TheWolfePit Shame we can’t post pics up
I'm not Southern and I made fried green tomatoes one time and they were terrible. Evidently I don't have the knack. I think this recipe would be great with zucchini. I put an online order into Walmart and meant to only buy a couple tomatoes and got a whole bag. I will have to try this recipe. By the way I love your humor and the background music.
I like fry red tomatoes I ate Tomatoes before but not fry tomatoes this video I kind of like 😋 a lot.
Wow I had no idea you could actually fry tomatoes! I just learned something 😁
Shazzzzzam . . . YOU ~ ROCK ! ,
never any green tomatoes in my area anymore and i been wanting to do them with red but didnt think this was a thing lol i will be trying
Just make sure they're under ripe and still firm. If you have a farmer's market that would be a good place to look for green tomatoes. Thanks for watching!
Thanks man
yes I love the fried green tomatoes! my aunt calls them mates she's from Georgia. unfortunately I can't find green tomatoes in Maine but I will try the red. How's the weight loss coming along.? will we ever see your face lol.
Thanks Tanaisha!! The weight loss is doing good.....I was stuck at 36 lbs for a LONG time, but now it's starting to slowly come off again! Glad I was just stuck and not gaining back! There's a picture of me on my website! www.thewolfepit.com
oh how i love me some fried tomatoes. i've tried red tomatoes before, but i think mine were too ripe because they got too soggy. thanks for the tips! i'm gonna make these and watch the movie at the same time ha!
You know I've never seen the movie?!?! I'll have to see if it's on NetFlix! Thanks for watching Kelli!
oh its a great movie! hope you enjoy it!
I guess everybody sort of fried green tomatoes, I think they even made a movie about them. Truth be told, I like your southern fried red tomatoes much better, great idea.
I'm cooking up some eggplant with Zaterans so I'm going to throw in a few of these!
Better than best!
Thanks Deedee!
those are good looking tomatoes:O
I've never really cared for tomatoes, but these look really good!
Can they be fried in a deep fryer?
Are these good like green tomatoes?
