Here’s the interesting thing about Oklahoma. The talking heads aren’t that high on OU, but the computers LOVE Oklahoma. The ESPN FPI has us at #8. Ahead of Missouri. Ahead of Tennessee. Ahead of Ole Miss. It’s always been this way. Hyping OU doesn’t make the media enough money. They make more by hyping Texas every year. The BCS computers loved OU as well back in the day. Ultimately, we just have to go prove it on the field and I think we will. Boomer!

Going 8-4 the first year in SEC is really good, it shows you're a Contender. Doing the Grind in the SEC is night & day different than Big 12. No bye weeks during the season. Brent was left with the bottom of the barrel. Don't forget the "My Way or The Hi-Way" speech during his second season of Stoops & Rileys Left Overs.

29:04 - I can't believe we had the number 3 offense either.. But I'm genuine.
Some games they excelled and were amazing, but other games they looked mediocre. Which made them seem inconsistent to a fan. But on paper, I guess those games where they were great helped even out the statistics of those games where they were not so great..
The run game hasn't been living up to the OU standard that we're used to. Sure, you can criticize the run blocking, but I swear the RB's were leaving a lot of yardage on the field by running into a pile or the back of their linemen instead of bouncing around them, and going down too easy like they're an undersized receiver.. Sawchuck finally seemed to level up our run game a bit towards the end of the season.
Agree until sawchuck last 5 games lot of open tackles made hopefully with Barnes and Taylor can be good back up to Gavin this year
Something that needs to get talked about is the Special Teams. How are we improving in that area in 2024? I remember being consistently frustrated with that phase of the game in 2023 and I’m not hearing much about it going into next season.
Just look back to the Texas game and that first quarter. Fake punt on 4th down, punt blocked in our end zone. We gotta do better.
OU goes undefeated last year with quality special teams. Beat Texas by 10.
Exactly, we should be recruiting the top kicker and punters every year if we’re going to be leaning on our defense

We blocked a few punts. The big problem was kicking though punting wasn't great until later in the year. We brought in an experienced kicker and have a five star kicker coming in to compete as well.
We did acquire one of if not the best Special Teams coach in the nation, now have we got his guys in the locker room? Not sure yet but I will say it’s an upgrade over Jay Nunez who was just awful
I’ve always thought the Tennessee game is the most important of the season because it’s at home and it sets the tone for the play in SEC.

Please stop saying Auburn is a hard place to play. It’s not.I use to live there. Oklahoma’s campus is night and day better than Auburn. Night games are different breed, but if they play during the day, it won’t be much of a home-field advantage. Everyone thinks it’s hard to play because most people only tune into Auburn when they’re playing Alabama so the crowd gets up for that game.

It's really Fun to see how well Cee Dee has done in the NFL ! I remember seeing 4 images of Cee Dee as he grew and developed at OU ! He began as a String Bean his freshman year to by his senior season he was a beast ! Remember when he dominated Texas DB's !! It was embarrassing for them and I suspect that is where the Cowboys really fell in love with him, and they were correct !
It’s hard to know when you’re on the air or off the air sometimes 😂😂😂.
My main gripe with lebby was his crunch time play calling. The constant sweeps hardly ever worked and on 3rd and 4th down he'd almost have scared played calling.
He was not good at player management bc I think lane kiffin and Josh heapel helped lot thst he did not have at ou

Did Dusty play with Bozworth ?? I remember The Boz had a really good D line that helped him roam sideline to sideline !! Seems teams kinda merge together when you reach my age !! I scoff at Dirt !! ;-)

On the Offensive line I wonder which young lineman will step up and emerge. I know Sexton is that can. So we have Center, Right Guard and Right Tackle taken care of. Again, young men step up 2 spots. Also, I know that Hatcher from Washington can play if healthy. The other transfer lineman help with depth and might start as well. We have Summer and 4 games to get our stuff straight!

Potential wise, he's a top 4-5 player. In reality, Bowman, Stutsman, Gentry Williams, Woodi Washington, and Ethan Downs are all better players than him at the moment. Damonic Williams is in that conversation as well but I left him off since he hasn't played for us yet.
That might be a good thing. I agree Mc is a player. Some of the other defensive players need to get on the field and produce so Stutsman and other starters can get a breather during the games. We don't need Stutsmanz etc in the first 4 games taking 90% of snaps. He needs to be at 70-75% tops.

If we can get that first gonna really help. Fans for sec don’t belong in ou or Texas but coaches know the league became harder . Fans need proof so we got to prove it
If we were still in big 12 of last yr this upcoming yr and did not win it or come in 2nd in big 12 that would be the expectation. Moving to the sec, I believe we are going to cause a lot of problems for teams in the sec. It’s not going to be easy playing us or beating us and I think we’ll finish in top 3 or 4 in the sec. Below the top 4 would be short of the expectation. This team is good enough to win the sec if our oline comes together bc our defense will be top 2 in the sec.

I didn't much care for the Lebby run game ? Some might say " What Run Game" ? I am shocked that OU had a top 3 Offense ! I'm one of those folks that really think running the ball when the other team knows what your going to do is the Mark of a great offense ! Seems going fast should be a weapon to be used when your opponent has not spent the previous week working on that and not a fundamental precept of every down !

What if I came from the future and told you the Sooners beat Auburn, Ole Miss, and LSU (all road games). What do you think their record was?
We win at least 10 games, probably 11.
Seth and Joe Jon are going to produce a good mixture of Air Raid and the Baylor system. As I looked at the talent on Oklahoma and the SEC schedule and I do not see an actual loss. A potential loss of course but not an automatic loss. I would look at Michigan talent and they went undefeated but with lesser competition and better coaching. I am from the old and when the Big 8 produce the best talent. So I am not sueded by the SEC magic. I came up under Sooner Magic and I do not think winning 8 games this season is a win. Again, with good coaching in terms of conditioning, discipline, and playing with physicality. This was the formula for Michigan, Georgia, Clemson and Alabama. You can go through the motions or go win football games.
I sort of agree. When I look at each game individually, I think they’re all winnable. But injuries and season fatigue are going to add up. We’ll see what happens but I think a 10 win season (including the bowl game) would be an amazing first year given this schedule.

We choked away 3 games last year. If we keep playing that way we lose 5 against this schedule. Especially the turnovers and offensive playcalling have to improve.
@@christophermorales1509 No we did not choke way three games last year. Oklahoma lacked their conditioning, discipline, and playing with physicality. Well I guess you can call it choking if you are prepared with conditioning, discipline, and playing with physicality.
@@christophermorales1509 I’d say we choked away two games. The Arizona loss was more Jackson Arnold being inexperienced.
