King Aquarium Thanks for the kind comment, much appreciated.
Great set up nice koi new subscriber Barry Manchester England 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
Very impressive pond and filtration system!
Hi mate, great setup, have a look at the Oase BIOsys Skimmer +. You can buy the weirs on their own and fit to your own box, will make short work of the surface foam!

How do you find this drum now after 12months have you any problems with it pond looks great and nice clear water new subscriber Barry Manchester England 👍
The drum filter has been very impressive so far, minimal maintenance compared to a regular style of multi bay filter . Of course there is still regular inspections needed and water tests etc but over all its been a great system so far .
Thank you for that 👍👍👍
awesome setup - question regarding the drum, is it using pond water during the cleaning cycle, or have you got it hooked-up to another water source, such as an outside mains tap, water butt etc?
There is a High Pressure pump in the base of the Drum filter that uses pond water to jet the drum clean. water is replaced via a timer on a mains tap that runs a few minutes in the morning and evening through an Oase dechlorinator canister to replace the lost water each day.
Those are some large fish
Nexus or drum filter for 3500 gallon pond? Koi stock is medium.
I was never a fan of Nexus filters personally. . I'm super impressed with the ProfiClear.
SkyrisUK are you into bakki showers? What’s your thought on pump fed ponds without bottom drains?
Where did you get the box for moving bed?
I made them. they are fiberglass. and way cheaper than the Oase plastic boxs of the same size . Any Fiberglassing outfit should be able to make these

Gracias
Fantastic set up. Where did the mesh come from ?
Thanks paul..If you mean the mesh I made through tubes from.. It was just from a landscaping center.. Silverland stone in chertsey carry it.
It's the mesh that you put around the tubes at the bottom of the ,2nd and 3rd tanks.
Nice pond! Congrats! Approx what type of budget would you need for a pond this size with fibreglass as well?
Very difficult to say really. depending on local labour costs and local materials prices etc etc .the filter system alone was in excess of £6k. All in around 18 - 20k would not be difficult to spend.
@@SkyrisUK Ouch! I might stick to a rubber liner then!
@@babu7141 that price was for the complete pond and every thing not only the FG .. where a a quality Rubber liner and Underlay would cost say 1000. the same size in FG liner would be about double.. There are Many advantages to having FG. But it must be a fully block or concrete built pond.. where Rubber liner can be laid in a soil whole in the ground.. Hence why a FG pond costs more... Due to the overall construction Not just the FG liner.. Hope that makes sense
@@SkyrisUK Yes, that all makes sense, thanks. I need to rebuild my pond so looking at the options right now.
Excellent setup, where did you get your media containers made?. Were they a lot cheaper than buying from Oase?
I had the molds made then made them myself.. They come in about Half the cost of the Oase Tanks. I have the molds still.. You'd have to cut and install all the Flanges yourself but that's simple enough.
How’s the pond come on, looking good?.Are you happy with the filter setup?
Hi Sir,
What is the purpose of the tank at this point: ua-cam.com/video/eMwKwIYvoGU/v-deo.html
To aerate the water which returns to the pond?
Thanks,
Miklos
Hi , that is K1 filter media, the aeration keeps it moving which aids the bacteria in breaking down the waste , it has almost infinate surface area compared to a stationary media such a s filter sponges or flowcore. Hope that helps
@@SkyrisUK Thank you for the fast reply!
For me it seems that it helps to aerate the pond as well. Because I cannot see any direct aeration in your pond and your fishes are rather big.
Pain the uv can be turned round
Yes I spoke to the Oase Rep about that .. as it limits access to bulbs.. You cant have it all eh.?!
I'll probably get slated for asking this but - you have a huge setup here, would a self cleaning pressurised drum filter with uv (that can handle a pond up to 30,000L) not have been sufficient and more space saving?
No Never in a Million years Im affraid. Those Pressurized canister type filters that state 30,000l for example are A) basing that on zero stocking of fish B) still need cleaning C) have next to nothing in the way of biological filtration capacity and D) have tiny UVs.. They are ok for a small pond with a few goldfish but nothing more in my opinion , and Ive been building ponds for 25 years. This Pond has a HUGE stocking of large fish and needed This amount of filter to maintain healthy water and has next to Zero maintenance required as its self cleaning. Hope that answered your question.
SkyrisUK thanks for the quick reply. I'm going to be building my first pond this summer, only for goldfish. I'd like a large pond like yours as I just enjoy being around water but only 10 or so fish will go in it. The choice of filters though is enormous/confusing and I'm just thinking about getting a bigger one than needed
There are several factors to take into account when choosing filters.. Location of the pond.. Will it be in full sun or shaded... Do you want to be cleaning a filter every few days... are you likely to do as many people do and want to add more fish or start adding Koi later...will you have Plants in the pond etc etc... best bet is to install the Biggest filter you can and a decent separate UV . You dont have to spend big money as you can often find used filters on Gumtree, Ebay etc.. Best of luck.
You must have had to have a 2nd mortgage to pay for those Koi!?
puts mine to shame
awesome koi and koi pond mate. I just subscribed. check out my pond on channel cheers..
The water doesn’t really look totally crystal clear though.
If you watched the whole video you would hear me explain Its the old mucky water from the holding tank th efish were held in while the pond was being built.. ..The follow up video 3 days later shows its already clearing and within a week it was gin clear .
