Hi Lee... Love the video regarding the Drum Filter, I have a Filtreau Drum and had similar problem with the non used port collecting debris.... What i did was put a small Airstone in that port and NO MORE DEBRIS.... Worked for me, kept all the debris suspended and then the drum removed it all... Regards Pau
Evening Lee🖐. When you show your drum filling back up you can clearly see that the protective mesh around the pump for the jet pump has moved and doesn’t cover half the intake holes☹️ I believe it should just slide back but that’s probably the reason why your jets are getting blocked?. Also…..Couldn’t understand why your drum was collecting all that crap when mine isn’t, after watching this video I’ve realised that the inlet you aren’t using (where all the crud is collecting) is the inlet I’m using as my primary inlet so in my drum that is the one that’s pulling most of the flow through. The other inlet is where my skimmer is coming into the drum. This means that both bottom inlets in my drum are pulling water through and that is probably why I’m getting enough flow to stop any settlement 👍😊. I may be talking out my ass but I can’t see any other differences………your thoughts?
I’ll pull that mesh back over! I did see it but was like that when I got the drum! So though it’s how it should be!!!!! If I had more room I’d put both bottom drains on the 2 lower inlets but can’t get to them in the tight area 🙈
My bottom drain and two mid feeds all go to their own ball valves.. then each line has a T with a slide valve on the side to purge. I purge every couple of weeks.. mud literally comes out! It’s crackers! Bloke at the koi shop told me to do it…. So glad I listened!
I’m running a Filtreau combi next and have to say, for the money, I’m really pleased with it. I have the same issue with the spare inlet collecting shite but the inlet section is nice and open so I just swill my hand around in there at pace once a week to clear up the bit that builds up and it just draws into the screen then. I also think it’s a big oversight by Oase to not have the built in amalgam as it does a banging job of keeping the outside of the screen clean
@@leehadfield6881 time to start getting the feed through those grow ons too mate you’re losing precious growing time 🤣 I’m using the cheapo far infrared media in my grow on shower and absolutely smashing the feed through them with no issues, the temps you’re at beneficial bacteria should flourish in no time

Lee don’t use slide valves on a purge line. They will leak eventually and drain the pond. And you’ll be left replacing them with ball valves. I speak from experience on my dads pond.
Hi Lee, you were saying about getting two nexus for your next pond. The auto system on Nexus only drops the mechanical waste around the eazy. It doesn’t drop the biological water. So not a problem as it works in the same manner and doing it manually 👍

Drums are great, but they’ve all got dead spots, (I’d argue you just can’t see it in the nexus?) the drum I use puts the waste directly into the middle of the screen, different design tho, but maybe you could extent the inlet so it splashes further in. Burtons drum every time lee. Never liked the oase drums really to many design flaws imo. You should never have that amount of crap in any drum. Mines been running for a year now and still looks like new. Don’t go backwards and be put off with your drum just buy a burtons 👍🏻
Mark definitely! To be honest I almost had a burtons drum!!!!! Got told by a dealer that the oase was better! Guess just wanted the sale!!!!!
@@leehadfield6881 yeah I did see that you were in two minds which one to go for and I guess if you’ve never had one how are you supposed to know what either are Going to be like. It’s definitely a learning curve this hobby lol. Anyway take care mate and defo don’t be put off. Just sell that drum and get yourself a burtons 😜
Just run an air line in the gap simple fix
That’s wind burn (leaf scorch) on your Acer Lee. They really don’t like being exposed to windy areas and that tall one has no protection from the wind. It will recover next year 👍
I think it’s the Pneumatic flow control valves you want
Yum curry and chips. :)

I have a compact m even worse even after calling oase giving them videos of this prob they don’t want to know they are shit
