- In this video we discuss the symptoms of schizophrenia and the dopamine hypothesis of its pathogenesis. We also discuss the mechanism by which the antipsychotic drugs produce remission from the psychotic symptoms.
These videos are awesome. I'm a young psychiatrist and no one has ever explained the neuroscience of things this clearly.

have you thought that the only brains you can disect to judge the cause of schizaphrenics [ thats why your disecting the brain in the first place as there allready diagnosed with schizaprenia ] is after they have allready been on antiphsycotic drugs which is far more likely to be the cause of the malformation in the brain, these antiphycotics are very powerfull and not "magic bullets" they affect the whole brain and is a good reason that in general schizaphrenics live 20 years less then the general population, in itself a mentle illness couldnt account for this, but damage to the brain by these drugs could, and it is now generly excepted that these drugs can cause shrinkige of the brain, not the other way round that schizaprenics allready have smaller brains. cheers. carl

Hello, dr. In my teenage. I was acting bizarre in the hospital. Dr. Did not know what was happening to me. Now I have psychosis bipolar 2 MDD , persistence depressive disorder. I hope you can have more videos on these mental illnesses symptoms and the causes of them may we find comfort in Jehovah word the Bible. My position is that if neurotransmitter levels were so relevant this would be cured by now as that is easy to change. I think it is cell death and the connection loss described here that is the real issue.
