Reunions, conspiracies, and pu$$y…. Cats are everything in Episode 5 of Monarch Legacy of Monsters. Honestly drop the Monsters, I mean they aren’t in the show, so call it Legacy of Monarch. It’s cleaner. Anyway in this video I’m talking about everything in episode 5, small MonsterVerse movie easter eggs, things you may have missed, and some great theories on where things are no doubt going.
Grab a bag of chips you snacky little boys and girls, as we get into Episode 5 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters…
So the episode kicks off with the group trapped in a Monarch containment facility, and Kentaro single handedly getting them out One of the biggest things, and tying back in with the show’s ongoing theme of secrets and characters wearing masks, is May having two different passports, living a double life like we had theorized. Duvall reads the passports, one being May Hewitts and the other Lyra Matteo, who we assumed was May’s sister back in America, but I think there is far more to this that I’ll get into later.
The main chunk of this Monarch holding facility section is them interrogating and being in awe of Shaw’s 90 year old age. This again has come up, I personally thought it was all a big ole joke, haha moment because this mofo is NOT even close to 90 looking, but it sounds like some sort of run in with a titan may have made it immortal. Yeah, I know some sort of Indiana Jones mumbo jumbo, but we learned last week that titan’s can confuse people, with the group walking in circles, so I’m curious if Shaw in a future flashback scene will be shown saving a titan who grants him magical powers. Idk man, this show is getting weird.
BUT I gotta say the scene of Shaw being shown the forgotten projector reel, which I love that they had it overlay his young self with his older self, even though it just barely missed the mark, is interesting. Because he longingly looks at Keiko, and yes it could be because we know she doesn’t make it, but I’m saying that Shaw and Keiko were actually f$%&ing He seems a bit too sentimental, so what a twist it would be to find out that the two Randa kids were actually his.

The last 2 episodes have been... not great. However since ep 1-3 was good enough I'm cautiously optimistic that we get some more great scenes with young Lee Shaw(Wyatt Russel) and the others. Their chemistry is so good I honestly think they could've carried the series if it only focused on them. The characters in 2015 are insufferable and Monarch is incompetent. I don't think the lack of monster scenes are inherently a big issue; I thought the appearance of Godzilla in episode 3 was a highlight.
Maybe since we got an all present episode, this next week will all be a flashback to the 50’s with Shaw, Randa, and Keiko
@@JBuckStudios Judging by the episode description for ep 6 on IMDb it seems like it's thankfully going to be both past and present.
My theory is, that Godzilla is actually just an orphaned inbred iguana who has a chip on his shoulder because he wasn't loved. You all should grow up.

Personally being a life long giant monster fan i love it. Yes, I find the main young characters a bit over angst- filled bur then again who's to say how the majority of us would change in a post G-day world. ...I'd probably spend at least the next year literally shitting myself. So who's to say.
Now that the chip on the shoulder attitude has been duely explained o find it much more easy to tolerate . And though i was saddened to see Mays betrayal i completly understand it.I think...
Shaw is an awesome character portrayed expertly by both generations of Russell's. And though I'd like to see more Monster action in LEGACY OF MONSTERS I'm perfectly aware of budgetary constraints for a TV show verses a movie and am willing to over look it. Especially now at the mid point of the show which is traditionally in tv shows the least exciting and more character building period. Saving the big budget stuff for building to the climax. I think for the most part it's well written with compelling story twists and mysteries and truly hope it does well enough to warrant a second season. And If it doesnt it doesn't end on a cliffhanger because that quite frankly would suck. Kudos to kurt russell. I've always been a fan from Gilligan's Islands jungle boy to snake plisken to Santa claus and everything I between. His family has become a respected Hollywood legacy family of talented royals. And I'll always give anything with a Russell in it a chance. So far I haven't been disappointed.
Can't wait for big G to show up. And wonder how it will tie in with godzilla x kong if at all.
As for Monarch it's self , in all of the movies and and now the show its seems to straddle a fine line. Niether evil nor good. But it sure seems shady. I'd like to see a bit more of its underworkings and it's clear purpose. Is it here to protect us from the m9nsters.. exploit them? Learn more about them as indifferent researchers and scientists , see if they can be trained or communicated with as potentential allies or treat them an enemy or purely as a resource. Or just flat out see them as strictly a threat to our existence and seek destroy them outright? Why so secretive? It's not like the entire world doesn't already know these things exist. Except of course those that think it was all a hoax ( love the parallel for climate change deniers btw). I'd think it would be comforting for the public to know there's a designated agency with resources on top of the kaiju situation...oops I meant muto.
All in all I'm a fan though i fear I may be in the minority . I haven't seen much publicity or buzz on ths show. I know Apple TV has a great reputation for quality shows their reputation on promoting them is abysmal. I hope to see many more fans gravitating towards it nd hope it picks up stams as I'm not ever looking forward to a world where no gift monsters threaten mankind and where Godzilla ( or respectively Kong) isn't there King .
So Shaw's immortal and covered his ass so that they won't dissect him. Somehow he's able to metabolize ambient radiation and it keeps him alive and young. Randa probably inherited that immortality but like Steve Rogers, he needs a certain type of radiation to trigger that immortality. So Shaw's likely got an active quickening that's slowly healing him. IMO it's most likely exposure to Mothra's healing radiation for Godzilla that Shaw gained his longevity. Randa might be looking for Mothra so that both his wives could live longer like him who inherited it from his parents.

@@JBuckStudiosJust watched the 2nd episode again, Randa's crew mates were pickled by slime by the beast that flew the ship away. It preserved the crew's corpses in good condition for over several yrs.. Could Shaw and others had been slimed in later flashback episodes and escaped. That exposure to the slime&Mothra's healing radiation activated some longevity&healing by being able to metabolize radiation similar to Titans like Godzilla. Ancient ppl had worshipped Godzilla to build that underground temples&they had to survive living with Godzilla's ambient radiation. So it might be something that Shaw had gained and likely not an accident.

I actually really love that the show has been focusing so much on the human characters and Monarch and doing all this world-building. I basically understand why we can't have monsters feature in every episode, and I'm actually a little surprised we're even seeing as much of them as we have been. I'm optimistic that towards the end of the season, they'll go bigger with things and really give us a lot of monster action in the finale. I've been enjoying the show way more than I thought I was going to, and I like some of these mysteries they've been setting up, love Kurt Russell's role in the show, so yeah I'm in it for the long haul to see where they're going with some of this stuff. If the season wasn't 10 episodes, I'd be a little worried they might not stick the landing, but I feel like we've still got quite a bit of screentime and story left to go.

I can’t relate to any of the characters. They are sad, sappy, slow, emotional and weak minded. Not strong. Their backgrounds do nothing for the show. Just get to the point of Godzilla and monarch. Leave that cringey stuff to “Days of our lives”.
I can't take the Wokeness of this show, I hoped it didn't get in the way of the story but sadly in Episode 5 the wokeness destroyed any desire to keep watching.
Kinda sick to death of the compulsory "message" in just so many movies and tv series.... but, of course, unless you have "diversity" (not in thought of course) but just in superficial (e.g., skin) or else you can't be considered for awards... Martin Luther King has it right but he now seems to be an inconvenient truth othat the DEI writers/producers, rally, really want to avoid...
