This etude works on sustaining tone at a VERY slow tempo. So slow, that my metronome doesn't even go that low. Subdivide the half note (28) to quarter notes (56) to help with maintaining this tempo. Use the contact point (where the bow is on the string) closer to the bridge to help with controlling the speed of the bow. A note on fingering octaves about 3/4 of the way through the video. This is one of the few etudes, along with #17, which I frequently see used as solos with their published piano accompaniments. Excellent etude for working on vibrato across all the strings (not just for your higher playing!).
