    I sincerly dislike the over-mythologizing of Heath Ledger's role in the Dark Knight and hearing shit like "The role was so dark, it caused Heath Ledger to literally die" is namely why.

    • @Ashagagal
      @Ashagagal Місяць тому +48

      I don’t even think his joker was super dark either, I love that film and his adaptation of it but people blow it way out of proportion. Nothing he does is any darker than any other Joker adaptation. The Arkham games are a darker Joker adaptation.

      @@Ashagagal That's what im thinking too. I especially think that that one Joker from the Joker one off comic that Heath Ledger's joker is vaguely inspired by is a much darker joker than the Dark Knights.

      @Ashagagal Місяць тому +11

      @@ibrahimalee23 Yeah exactly, Heath did an amazing job and I can see why people love it but in the grand scheme of things his Joker is pretty tame in terms of a hypothetical joker scale. The hospital scene is the darkest it got. His performance is what really sold it being the Joker not what he was actually doing in the film.

      This may sound harsh, but Ledger's untimely death is the only reason his role is treated like a religion. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing performance, and it would have been remembered and praised regardless, but Ledger's death immortalized it.

    Martin Scorcese got really unfairly panned for having the genuine critique that superhero movies were assembly-line products that didn't treat the medium of film with respect or itself as art. All of which people who _read_ comics should agree with because we see what these stories lack and what art they could've been. He never said "fuck comic books", he doesn't even hate comic book stories or characters, the fact that he took Joker so seriously before he decided to move on because it wasn't for him should show he had the type of respect Disney and WB don't.

Mark hamill and none of the other voice actors had to do anything crazy. They just did it well by looking at the source material or the character, not trying to reinterpret it. Making a sequel to the Joaquin Phoenix 2019 "Joker" film as a musical with Lady Gaga is one of the most brain dead and ridiculous ideas I have ever heard. I hope people are not so stupid and ignorant that they will pay for the overpriced movie tickets to see that. I don't want it to do well because then the studios will think it's okay to keep making comic book movie adaptations that are of lesser quality and creatively bankrupt and awful. Marvel and DC in live action has been declining in quality for so long and it really shouldn't be that way. It's pathetic that it can't be handled properly anymore.
