I was on house arrest 17 years ago. Luckily for me I was able to hire the right lawyer, knew the right people and had my curfew extended till 10 pm because of my job. Not to mention I had a friend who had her friend and his same similar situation and because of that he knew how to get the ankle monitor off without setting off alarms. I still did whatever i wanted and went wherever i wanted.
My mom was working for the school, and one of the kids asked her why we call it "Hanging up the phone" when finished with the call. She had to explain it, since the kid never saw a landline phone.
I'm glad you explained what a landline is. I've only seen them at schools, hospitals, police stations, bars, bowling alleys, reception desks, delis, airports, restaurants and houses.

Basically when I was on house arrest I didn't have to wear an anklet. It just meant that if I was caught out of my house when I'm not supposed to I'd be arrested. No questions asked.

Somebody wants something, sorry I can't leave. However if you are still using drugs or drinking, even if you only get the urge to do it once - if probation shows up for a home visit you can't just hide and not answer the door or go out the back. You have a bracelet and they know you are there.
Some people wear two ankle bracelets--one for house arrest and another one from getting a DUI. There are ankle bracelets that can detect alcohol use, and if the sensor detects any alcohol, even from perfume or cooking, it sets off the monitor.
As a retired criminal I find it amusingly odd how people don't understand how house arrest works and find it more amusing if they actually think there's someone who guards them at their house 😂😂

Usually curfew is 7 to 7 also you had a black box with a phone installed that needs constant power. It monitors if your home or not and means you can call your tracking agents, police or medical . They can also tell that your call from a black box or tag .so you get pushed to the top of the question. First offenders can easily get house arrest after a remand.

@Orangebur I'm a homebody so, quarentine wasn't a big deal to me. I work at home running an online business and when i'm not working, i play on my switch, sleep, eat, and go on youtube. I do go out, but mainly to the coffee shop to work remotely and then shop for food and supplies. Quarentine didn't change my schedule so it was life as usual for me.

Teleco installer here. When ever we did house arrest phone installs we were always told to deny the customee if they tried to get call forwarding.
