    Just wanted to add that the CURT front receiver fits a Ford Ranger with the cross member without cutting. Mounted 😮as displayed. Sucks having the hitch so low, but it seems to act as a brace for my bumper valance. I hit a deer doing 70 the other day and had zero damage to the bumper valance, likely due to the hitch bracing it. The cost of the hitch was definitely equal to that of a new Valance+ fog lights and the time dealing with them. Something to keep in mind for anyone looking to buy a hitch, who is ok with it peeking out below their valance. Not ideal for winches but just fine for other applications. I plan on cutting a hole in the cross member to reverse my hitch when I decide its time for a winch. Cheers from Canada

    Thanks again for answering a previous question. I was in the market for a winch bumper for my 02 and the only choices were crap chinese for about $800 all in and 2k for a quality NA one. I wish there was a part 2. Would like to see if the winch would clear my small lightbar which is on top of the bumper. I guess I would lose the fancy FX4 curled chrome recovery hooks as well. Looks like a great job. Thanks for posting

      When welding it up Id suggest tacking it up then mount the winch. That way you will know you will clear everything or not. Yeah you will loose those fancy hooks. But you will have a killer winch!

      Thanks and No problem at all. That’s why I put this stuff on here…. Steal away. 😁
      So far it’s working great… I tried it out pulling my truck with trailer attached. I’ll try and get a video posted.

      Can you do this mod and still fit the front factory tow hooks?

    • @RangerShop1
      @RangerShop1  2 роки тому

      @@bobjones1579 unfortunately I don’t have my two hooks on anymore so I’m not sure but I would think so. I only cut the very centre out of the cross bar other then that it’s all factory on the front. So if they fit on there before they should still fit on after. 👍

      @@bobjones1579 yeah I don’t see why not… maybe not with a body lift though.. I’m not to sure

    I appreciate the video, is there any way you could make one on how you wired it all together? That's the area I'm stuck on right now. Thanks!

      Sorry about the delay in getting back to you!
      I’ll see if I can post a video sometime. I needed to re-wire a lot after installing the electric fan etc.

    I am doing nearly the same thing on a 2005 FX4 Level II. I have the same front bumper as you only with factory fog lights in those two holes and factory recovery hooks inside the large center opening. I purchased a front receiver hitch (quality one) for my specific truck and like you, do not like how low it mounts. So I plan to invert it and bolt it on upside down. I know I will need to do some cutting to get it through the factory bumper and factory skid plate ("Level II"). I was hoping to get some help with some links:
    * What Anderson knock-offs did you get and do they have rubber plugs or plastic plugs for when the winch is not plugged in? (I want Andersons, but don't know which ones to purchase and can not get an answer from UA-camrs that have them installed.)?
    * What AWG did you use to run back to the rear bumper?
    * What were/are the battery connectors you mentioned you used? (link?)
    I really like how clean your install looks and completely understand why you don't want your winch mounted all the time. I plan to weld a mount in my bed with a lock just as you are doing.
    Wish me luck and any help would be appreciated.

      Yeah I hear you with the factory hitch being too low. It’s unfortunate!
      Ok in the video description I put a link to the parts I used…. Personally I’m very happy with the connectors but I think I could have gotten away with a lighter amps. Wire is 4awg 10ft, then I ran a 50 amp fuse off the battery. Just make sure you really shield those wires running along your frame. I’m super happy with the set up, having used it already a few times. I don’t really see a point of having a winch in a fixed position… it rather have the flexibility. I think you will like the set up.

    It looks like you have a 3 in body lift ??

    • @RangerShop1
      @RangerShop1  2 роки тому

      Yeah you got it 3” body lift and torsion keys in the front. I have the springs for the back.. they will be going in soon. Then I think it’s the perfect height with 33” tires.
