7 hour war was not a fight. 7 hour war was basically a beating of toddlers. The combine we see in HL2 are merely small garrison forces. The REAL invasion force literally destroyed all earth armies in 7 hours. It was anything BUT real war. Earth armies basically had no time to even try to resist.

TFW you hear your platoon sergeant yelling “BROKEN ARROW” into the radio
Technically broken arrow refers to an accident with a nuke that didn't turn the cold war hot
@@Grenadier-Broken arrow just refers to any accident involving a nuclear weapon, it wasn't limited to just the Cold War. You're thinking of the movie, which refers to the same term.
@@Grenadier-broken arrow is also a radio brevity code for a ground position being over run letting any air or artillery support know your position is a free fire zone
@@battleboat12 The only solid reference I can find to this usage of the phrase 'Broken Arrow' is from Hal Moore and Joseph Galloway's account of the Battle of Ia Drang, We Were Soldiers Once... and Young. This is the specific section:
Beside me in the battalion command post, the Air Force forward air controller, Lieutenant Charlie W. Hastings, twenty-six, from La Mesa, New Mexico, radioed a special code word, "Broken Arrow," meaning "American unit in danger of being overrun," and within a short period of time every available fighter-bomber in South Vietnam was stacked overhead at thousand-foot intervals from seven thousand feet to thirty-five thousand feet, waiting its turn to deliver bombs and napalm to the battlefield.
The scarcity of any other references to 'Broken Arrow' being used in this context could suggest it was either unique to Ia Drang, or to Vietnam more broadly. It's possible, for example, that it was just the agreed code phrase for that day or week, or for that specific operation. As I say, I can't find any solid sources for its use beyond Vietnam - only anecdotal/colloquial accounts.
Overwhelmingly, 'Broken Arrow' is used to refer to an accident involving nuclear weapons that does not create the risk of war. The US military's nomenclature for reporting nuclear weapons incidents is standardised by the Department of Defense/Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Native American-themed code phrases (Broken Arrow, Empty Quiver, Bent Spear, etc.) date back to the 1960s, according to Eric Schlosser's book on US nuclear weapons safeguards, Command and Control. The phrase is used in that context in this 1967 work on nuclear weapons safety, for example.
It's very unlikely that the phrase has been widely or commonly used in another context, if it risked creating confusion - particularly if that confusion related to nuclear weapons security, where the potential consequences could be dire.
As my unit experienced this in 2009 in the mountains of Afghanistan. The radio broadcast was "Alamo". This meant we are experiencing a mass complex attack and being overrun, expect total casualties. In response to said broadcast, 100% of available artillery and air support is directed to your complex, and they start laying hate. As if hate was going out of style.
@@Ghost-fc9hw OFS 2016 it was in our units SOP, don’t know what to tell you.

Imagine fighting through it all, seeing your platoon, friends, brothers die and your entire world crumble. Everything you've ever known falling to pieces in 7 hours, and managing to survive, only to see a human being betray his entire species by surrendering to the combine.
Then, being identified by the combine as a soldier/marine/airman/whatever - That's when the true horror starts. Being one of the first humans to be "upgraded" by the combine. An experiment, that probably went wrong for the first few. The lucky ones being turned into mindless Combine Soldiers. Or worse, Stalkers.
