- Something I made, thought the music and the ambiance went well together. Radio is from Modern warfare 2 and map from Battlefield 4. I figured if you could suspend your disbelief a bit and immerse yourself it gave out some pretty chilling results.

Not quite. According to Wikipedia 'Broken arrow' means 'A code phrase indicating that a ground unit is facing imminent destruction from enemy attack and all available air forces within range are to provide air support immediately.'

Imagine the chaos in the airwaves during the 7 hour war...
Thousands of soldiers screaming as their positions were overrun in mere minutes. Choppers and Jets being blown out of the sky as Gunships and any other flying synths take them out. Cities because destroyed and obliterated in a matter of a hour. The refugees trying to flee only to be killed in the onslaught. The panicked screams and cries when some refugees came across Xenian creatures leftover and being killed by them.
And remember... This all happened in a mere 7 Hours
Actually I’d say the jets had an easier time. Most of the gunships and hunter choppers were most likely being used as CAS by the combine. In fact I think the gunships and hunter choppers were the only planes shooting down jets and helos.
Its crazy to think about. Most of the population, gone in only 7 hours. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to be in the position of a ground troop during the 7 hour war.
"Gunships" lmao, it's clear the synths in hl2 weren't used in the 7 hour war, they can hardly handle shots from RPGs, they would be obliterated by the army.
which is why gunships probably knew how to prioritize targets, their priority is units with explosives, missiles and anything that can just put them down
There could also be more synths unknown to us Viewers that Valve could have been working on but scrapped it or projects that were never led to the public, we may never know what's the rest of the CMB forces. (CMB means Combine)

+Minet Mann Sure it could. It could take place from different parts of the world within each hour. The first two hours, USA, Mexico, and South America. Hour 3 and 4 could be in Europe, while the last three hours could be Russia, China, and like Australia or something.
I'd prefer Opposing Force 2 to take place between 7 hour war and Half-Life 2.

There seriously needs to be more Seven Hour War games. Imagine being a civilian in all of this. Soldiers getting gunned down by whatever synth's the combine used in order to fight in the war, constant rubble crashing near you, countless dead bodies in the street, etc.
there is a game where you play during the seven hour war but i wouldnt fucking buy the game because it isnt all that good but if you do want to try it well its on steam if you want that thing we call hunt down the freeman

Imagine the super portal opening above the city and a Citadel emerging above the city, crashing in the centre with a dust storm engulfing the entire city, soldiers all over the city screaming into their radios about what they were seeing. As the dust settles, thousands of gunships and other synths black out the skies as the gunfire slowly stops, the radio reports stop coming in as command tries to raise someone, but only being met with white noise indicating that everyone had died.

ah yes remember when the combine invaded with Russian Equipment somewhere in Shanghai... and Freeman had to defend the Burger Town by using his trusty crowbar while assisted with AC-130 support from the skies.

The one thing I've always wanted to see was the moment the citadel was transported to earth, causing everything around it to just crumble and get blown away.

Talk about a true global nightmare. Imagine the entire planet, including the entirety of the world's most powerful militaries, being crushed in a mere 7 hours. As an American, I can personally say this is an unthinkable reality for my country. We're recognized as having the most powerful military in the world, and we haven't fought war with a foreign country in our MAINLAND since like the 1700's. And over the last several decades, military technology has advanced so much, that drone-warfare of various types is completely possible now. Seeing a country like mine fall in a mere 7 hours is, again, unthinkable.
We would probably last a lot longer now because early combine forces would be susceptible to simple tanks. And by that, I mean the tanks with aimbot that can launch fucking rockets.

Imagine if the 7 hour war and the Black Mesa incident happened in real life. If it happened now, the war would last at least a day, and we'd have a better chance since our technology is great. It would also be very scary.
In the half life universe the Combines technology is greater than any other advanced civilization's technology in the entire multiverse. The combine have taken hundreds if not thousands or even millions of planets, and advanced civilization's. They have driven many intelligent species into either extinction or turned them into slaves. Earth in half life never stood a chance and even if they had the technology we currently do they still wouldn't stand any chance.

@@randomdude5726 that would only delay the inevitable as that won't stop the combines ability from opening the portals. It might also cause damage and death on our end as well.

Seven Hour War is one of those things I long to know more about. We know the official war lasted 7 hours, but how long was the Portal Storms(days, weeks, months?), how long did it take the nations of Earth to understand they where under attack, how much of the world was taken before the UN surrender, how long did forces/nations that refused the surrender hold out, why is there a big red X over North America in HL:A?
You know I would like to see 2 things
1: a seven hour war mod
2: a seven war AU mod. It would be an alternate timeline were earth was ready for the war.
Either that if it does come to a stalemate I don't expect the combine to make an armistice any time soon.
