- 【Synopsis】
Fall in 2018, a time machine suddenly appears in front of a hero born in 2000 and dreaming about becoming the king. A mysterious girl from the time machine tells the hero that “I came from 2068. The future world is taken over by the king of demon. He makes people suffer and makes the world hopeless.”.
The girl being here in 2018 to change the desperate future also adds “That king of demon is you and will eventually destroy the world, but you are the king, “Zi-O” as well.
Is his destiny to be the hero as Kamen Rider Zi-O or turn into the king of demon?
This is the story of Kamen Rider who comes across the former Heisei riders through time traveling and fights to save at any times of past, present, and future.

Une fille mystérieuse émane de la machine à remonter le temps et dit au héros : "Je viens de 2068. Le roi des démons prend possession du monde futur. Il fait souffrir les gens et le monde a perdu tout espoir".
Nous sommes maintenant en 2018 et la fille qui est ici pour changer l'avenir ajoute également "Ce roi du démon, c'est toi. Tu finiras par détruire le monde, mais tu es également le roi, "Zi-O".
Son destin est-il d'être le héros sous la forme de Kamen Rider Zi-O ou de devenir le roi des démons ?
C'est l'histoire de Kamen Rider où se rencontrent les anciens Riders Heisei à travers le temps. Ils se battent pour sauver le passé, le présent et le futur.

Crazy how things went for Sougo in just the first episode... dealing with people being on him about his desire to being a king, meeting Woz who told him how it was a special day for him, then being chased by Geiz and saved by Tsukuyomi and learning of his dark fate... and beginning his path to becoming a Kamen Rider, and the kindest demon king as well as traveling through time.
Rejoice. The king himself is here. He will go every Kamen Rider’s world. He is the true king of all Riders and Travis Touchdown’s favorite, Kamen Rider Z-io.
Alas, only 2 episodes...that is not the way to treat the king...

It’s beyond ridiculous at this point that Toei chooses to release just two episodes. They could have reached out to the fan sub community and I’m sure a few of them would have jumped at the chance to sub KR from the original to its current series for just a “translated by” credit.
Hasbro has the rights to the Sentai and they’re doing nothing with it, we’ll probably never see anything before Jetman or after Shout! did their last Sentai release.
Meanwhile, Tsuburaya gave the rights to Ultra to MillCreek entertainment to release pretty much everything Ultra so far except a movie here and there and the stage shows.

This is a really underappreciated show if I do say so. It has a lot of heart that people unfortunately will overlook for one reason or another, and otherwise it's just a fun show. It has a special place in my heart, and always will.

I think the idea of a kid who's predestinated to become an evil king and have to fight to become who he really wants to be is good. And I liked Decade presence. X)
Isn't this the plot of anime where a kid is or is going to become a demon king? I think we need to be honest that these shows are written for kids and never meant to be that complex, just convoluted as some works tend to be.
@@blumiu2426 Sincerely, that's for kids. But some subjects are more mature than some of occidental kids' contents. Like the death, bully, adult concerns, etc. They show a young adult who quits his childhood to grow up. I'm not sure to write it well but, it's another way than the one we know, we're used to, which is more hard and sensible. Otherwise, yes, it has a lot of kid jokes, characters who have a childish mentality, etc. I like it, because I laugh a lot and there are some good subjects sometimes too. I won't say that's better than any other tv serie, I'm just fan. (And it's not that good. Just a sympathic content which isn't too stupid.)
@@asarei65 I'm not necessarily criticizing it, because it clearly is what it is and written for youth. There are some things they can discuss and I certainly would have preferred this over other kid's shows growing up. From what I've gathered however, Kamen Rider unfortunately doesn't get the best writers and problematic individuals at the detriment of the longevity and reception of series. THAT shouldn't be the case.
There is a big tonal shift if you look at the older Kamen Rider shows to now, and whatever the cultural outlook is, it's lost something. Not necessarily the maturity even though that is one aspect, but the shows now try to be live-action anime instead of being natural. The introduction/setups seem a bit more rushed or saved for later instead of from the start; why does a guy want to be King (translation issue?) when Japan has had Emperors and how is that practical?
Kids don't need things dumbed down this much, so they can raise the bar and raise the budgets.
@@blumiu2426 I understand. I made a little mistake, I'm sorry. As I wrote, I like the serie as it is (in the main part) and I agree too with your opinion. I watch it without paying attention to some details like natural logic, sci-fi effects or people bahavour (childish), because I know I won't be able to appreciate it. I would like to know why the serie has changed (is it because of western adaptations ?) and why the scenarists don't make correct (at the begining to the end) plots. I also think they could do better and wouldn't spoil the series. I hope they'll think about it again to do something japanese children will like and something that will be really correct. About the " animetization ", that's totally right. Maybe they think the children like it this way more. Era changed three times, so, I guess they try to be attractive and modern. Maybe one day soon, they will do something that will really be great, working hard on it. Maybe they could hire new scenarists and give them a chance to take care of Kamen Rider. I decided to believe that they can do it. // Sorry if my ton is pretty rude, I don't notice it when I write.

Zi-O is very special to me, This episode even more so. It's the first full episode I watched as It aired on TV while I was staying in Japan. Went to be when I got there, woke up the next day Just in time to watch Kamen Rider. Even better was the wall sized TV my host Eiji had! Seeing my friends CG work on a near theater sized screen was amazing. Thank you for uploading this episode, It's been great reminiscing about 2018~

Rejoice! For Kamen Rider Zi-O's first episode has arrived! This was the first Kamen Rider show I ever watched in its entirety (though I'd seen clips of other shows and a scattered episode of Dragon Knight when it was first airing). It was a wild and fun ride and pushed me down the road towards being the Rider and Ultra fan I am today. It no longer holds the spot as my favorite Rider series (that honor is a tie between Kuuga and Kiva), but it will always hold a special place in my heart.

I don’t care how much hate i get: this is one of the best series of Rider ever! An epic anniversary series with brilliantly written plot and characters.
And the theme song! It’s such a thrill every time I hear that beat drop!
The story is only confusing is you lack the imagination and flexibility of mind to understand. Don’t make it the fault of the writers.

You cannot seriously believe that one has to suspend disbelief enough that mediocre writing can then be good? I can't say for this as haven't watched all of it, but I think the designs and legacy makes Kamen Rider what it is, not the plots. Not unless one only absorbs certain kinds of media and avoids reading books.
Zi-O is one of the most powerful kamen rider in have ever seen it wonder if they can meet the american version of the power rangers lol
This was a great series to end the end the hensai era on. Love the series one of my favourites.
Build would have been a better send off to the Heisei era, they shouldnt have done Zio and did a miniseries instead

Yep this show was so messy and poorly done and I love it
The show being a mess was a foregone conclusion given that "Kento Shimoyama" and "Nobuhiro Mouri" were writing it. Kento gave us "Shuriken Sentai Ninninger" the (currently) worst sentai to date, and Nobuhiro gave us "Uchu Sentai Kyuranger"; which while not as bad as Ninninger, I still thought was pretty bad. That's the price we have to pay when executive producer (and Showa Era fanboy) "Shinichiro Shirakura" thought it would be a great idea to appoint 2 writers whose approach to comedy is "If the audience didn't think my joke was funny when I made it the first time, SURELY they'll think it's funny when I make it the twelfth time". Because apparently no one ever told Kento and Nobuhiro that writing tokusatsu, and writing "Crayon Shin-chan" are 2 different things. Then again, maybe Shirakura gave them those positions because he has a fetish for suckups; which Kento is notorious for being. To the point that during Zi-O's production, Kento displayed an almost fanatical devotion to Shinichiro that reminded me of the relationship between Victor Vincent and Monty from "Power Rangers Ninja Stale"; and that relationship could easily be classified as "Ambiguously Gay".
Now, we must prepare to rise and jump towards a new era!

This could’ve been a good sendoff for Heisei unfortunately they got the Ninninger head writer on this series. Ironically Zi-O actually got better when it essentially became Decade season 2
The first Kamen Rider series I watched all the way through. Yeah, I started with the anniversary series that references all the older series, go figure.

Zi-O has always been my favorite , maybe because this was the first Kamen Rider I watched , I actually didn’t get to watch the full episodes until it came to DVD , but I watched everything I could on UA-cam with Zi-O , I like the driver more than the others as well. The show isn’t more comedy than serious , which some shows can be. This one has more of a serious tone to it. I have a few Kamen Rider complete series sets now , they are all great , I just prefer Zi-O , and Tsukuyomi isn’t bad to look at either. I just wish they would make a premium action figure of her. I like Uru also , I know it’s a guy , but I think he could go either way if you ask me LOL. Pretty cool in this series. And I could swear he was in Alice in Borderland but I’m not one hundred percent positive. If anyone knows I would appreciate it if you could tell me. There’s an actor in that series that resembled him but I couldn’t swear it’s the same person.

@@mr.nameless4455 sorry I just now saw your question , I bought all mine on eBay , they come from Malaysia with English subtitles , they are cheaper than the Japanese versions but still very good quality. I’ve bought Saber , Zero One , Ghost , Den-O and Build as well as Zi-O. I have no complaints.

All of Heisei Kamen Riders have assembled on this Channel
This series is kind of a hot mess for me. I will go on record saying that I do like the theme song, the insert songs, the arsenal, all but 2 of the suits (Grand Zi-O and Geiz Majesty specifically), and the fight scenes. But the story and characters leave a lot to be desired. This was not a good anniversary season for someone like me. There's plenty of creative ideas, but the plot was incoherent. And the show (in the form of bonus episodes) actually tells its fans to ignore the plot holes before the fans even have time to complain. In my personal opinion, that's a clear sign that the executive producer (and Showa Era fanboy) "Shinichiro Shirakura" and the show's writers, "Kento Shimoyama" and "Nobuhiro Mouri" knew the show was flawed, but didn't care about fixing it. It can never be understated that continuity and consistency in storytelling is important. If you have neither in your story, or you retcon it because of something that's inconsequential; then you're not telling a good story, or respecting the intelligence of your audience. It feels like little effort was being put into this production, and they were expecting the cameos of alumni riders to carry the show. Some japanese audiences have said that they only watched the tribute episodes involving their favorite rider season. Then again, Shinichiro has been referred to as "Japanese Jonathan Tzachor" by some fans; because he seems to be more interested in the appearance of a series, instead of what's on the inside. Having Shinichiro as the executive producer wasn't a good idea when we consider that he has a disturbing obsession with the showa era because "muh childhood".
I will admit that when Shinichiro is doing his own thing like "Kamen Rider Kabuto", or "Kamen Rider Amazons", he's fine; but when he's allowed to handle another person's work or anniversary projects, it doesn't end well. Case and point, the second half of "Kamen Rider Hibiki" and the "Super Hero Taisen" movies.
Believe it or not, there was a time where the last thing Shinichiro Shirakura wanted as a creative, was to be compared to franchise creator "Shotaro Ishinomori" in any shape or form. Shinichiro wanted to be judged on his own merits in roughly the same way "Hayao Miyazaki" didn't want to be compared to the man who inspired him, "Osamu Tezuka". But ever since the 2011 movie "OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's Go Kamen Riders" (at the earliest), Shinichiro seems to have developed a borderline obsession with being associated with Ishinomori's legacy and compared to the creator in question. Which I find to be a shame, since I think Shinichiro was doing okay when he was trying to be his own "artist" (for lack of a better term) with his own vision.
Imagine that you're entering a luxurious looking restaurant, it treats you like a VIP but they only serve you an appetizer and dessert; no entree whatsoever. When you've finished your meal, you're a tiny bit satisfied but your stomach didn't get enough food and nutrition; in the end, you just wasted a lot of money for an expensive snack. That's how Zi-O felt to me as a series.
My problems with the show come from the writing, which comes from the same people who gave us "Shuriken Sentai Ninninger" (which currently bears the mantle of "Worst Sentai of All Time") and "Uchu Sentai Kyuranger" (which gave us the currently worst red ranger in all of sentai, in my personal opinion). Kento Shimoyama is a blatant misogynist who writes his female characters as either nuisances, or objects of ridicule. He also makes it a point to pander to 5 year old humor whenever he can, as much as he can. His approach to comedy seems to be "If the audience didn't laugh at my joke when I made it the first time, SURELY they'll laugh at it when I make it the twelfth time!"; because apparently no one ever told Kento that writing tokusatsu and writing "Crayon Shin-chan" are 2 different things. Apparently, during Zi-O's production; Kento displayed an almost fanatical devotion to Shinichiro Shirakura (who was his superior) that was reminiscent of the relationship between Victor Vincent and Monty from "Power Rangers Ninja Stale", which most fans of the PR franchise classify as "Ambiguously Gay" (Not that there's anything wrong with that). Though, Shinichiro has been known to have a fetish for suckups (along with the Showa Era, and idiotic/crackhead protagonists); so he might've appointed Kento as Zi-O's head writer because he knew Kento would never say no to him.
Nobuhiro isn't as bad by comparison (he wrote a few filler episodes that I like for multiple sentai and rider seasons), but Kyuranger showed me that he cannot write the majority of a season of tokusatsu competently if his life depended on it. Not helping Mouri's case is the fact that he didn't do any research on the previous rider seasons he was writing tribute episodes for with Zi-O, ESPECIALLY if they were seasons that Mouri had previously written filler episodes for.
The worst part about this show was how the fandom behaved while Zi-O was airing, you either liked it or hated it; and regardless of the result, you were hurling insults and death threats at whoever disagreed with you. This got to the point where Zi-O fans not only sent death threats to a tokusatsu reviewer for criticizing Zi-O's first episode, but also doxed him. Which in my opinion, is going TOO far.
If you like this series, that's fine. If anything, I envy you for being able to look past the flaws this series had for me. I just feel that Zi-O deserved better as a series.
