Dear Opera My World, I think the recording is running fast. Bjorling doesn't sound quite himself.
The sound of therecording is quite bad...so may there are some pitch issues!!

Actually the sound isn't bad compared to some other live non Brdcst. Performances of the time, there is a complete Met. Dec. 1948 Bjoerling radio Brdcst. singing Boheme, the only "complete" Bjoerling Boheme "live" available and the sound isn't nearly as good as this one, the cast on that performance was Sayo as Mimi, Benzell as Musetta, and Valentino as Marcello. Many other live radio Brdcsts. and especially performances taped in house where saved and posted on you tube but even if not in good sound are rare and worth hearing as this is for the great singers of the past we had back then. The First "complete" TV live performance of an opera (Aida) is available as it was live Video taped in studio 8H in N.Y. with the great Cond. Toscanini, and the cast included then young American Tenor Richard Tucker and both baritone Valdengo and the aida was Herva Nelli, hiites on you tube and complete also but that one is not a good quality print but you can buy a good quality DVD of it and the sound is not enhanced but in high definition quality picture B&W from 1949! @@OperaMyWorld
It's probably running slightly fast as you said , raising the pitch, it's a pretty rare live recording. I actually saw and heard Jussi Bjoerling the year before this in 1958, in Chicago , he was singing the Duke in Rigoletto with Moffo and Gobbi, I was 18 years old but still recall some of it, especially his aria's "Parmi" and "La Donna e Mobile" but in those days I was mostly fund of just tenors, especially "Mario Lanza" in the movies but I started going to operas in my home town, Chicago in 1957. @@sugarbist
What makes performances like this from the 1950's even more rare and valuable, is the fact that "it was not a radio Brdcst. performance" so it was up to somebody in the opera house to record it there, not at home off the radio! This from 1959, and before Cassette tape recorders is much appreciated, and a big thank you for posting it. @@OperaMyWorld
Why on the planet am I getting advertising every 10 minutes, on top of it all in the middle of a beautiful aria? Ads that only go away if I do something about them... It was not like this earlier. Not even earlier this week when there already were some ads in the middle. Makes me want to listen to other recordings - a pity since this is a very good one. @operamyworld
Plase download the recording in mp3! Just type on google download youtube to mp3! I dont get anything of money from my channel! So I dont understand why they put so many ads...
