Oh that was fantastic - I bought this album as a child when it came out and was listening to this very track again this evening - it is mesmorising to finally get to see these wonderful musicians play. Billy Cobham isn't my favourite drummer but here he plays really tastefully with restraint and perfect touch.
Probably the Montreux TV show only included a few songs from the concert and didn't select those songs if they filmed the whole thing. This version of Some Other Kind is longer than on the Smokin' album , the passage starting at 4:58 time mark was edited out on the album.

I've always enjoyed this song since I first heard it on Cobham's "Smokin'" album. Nice to see Dudley Moore on bass (I make zee joke). =)
