I usually like dressing the tyres as I know I've nearly finished and it's cup of tea time whilst standing back and admiring your own handywork😉. Nice one Heather 👍
I’m so glad you mentioned that you don’t do a deep clean on tires every time if you’re cleaning them every 1 or 2 weeks 👍. I caught your laugh when you were talking about I don’t always remember to start at the top of tires when applying the dressing 😂
Great video. One of my favourite parts of a detail. Doesn’t look finished until you have a nicely dressed tyre. Used to like a more gloss finish but since changing to the Michelin PS4s with the velvet lettering I’m now going for more satin finish to show it off better. Only thing I’d add (and people say it’s too much but 🤷🏼♂️) When doing a wheels off detail I dress the inside tyre walls with a good tyre conditioner, it helps to prevent cracking.
Thanks for watching :) Good shout on the PS4s too. That's a great tip, I went with GT Tyre Serum when I first got my wheels a couple of years back, I should probs take them off again and see how they look now haha
For me, ive tried alot of tyre dressings as i clean my car every week, and i always go back to meguiars ultimate tyre shine. Its in a aerosol, its easy to use, looks great and is quick and lasts as well 🙂
I wash my my car (golf) with Goodyear tyres twice a month if I can and I use Tuf Shine tyre cleaner and a stiff brush. This cleans the tyres well, better than a citrus cleaner or Apc tbh. I’m having mixed results with garage therapy tyre serum, I think because it is water based. I still like Gtechniq T1 tyre and trim dressing which is gel based. Yes it is messy as you mentioned in your video; but will preserve with GT tyre serum. Great helpful video Heather. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Darren 😊 I wasn’t massively sold on Tyre Serum initially, only after a few months did a become more of a fan when that base layer was going strong
Tire music.....you know.....the sound the tire brush makes when scrubbing the insane tire lines on the sidewalls!!! I hate those lines! Hard to clean, hard to properly dress. The last time i washed personal car i used a rinseless wash on the tires. Worked pretty good. Thanks Heather. Cool video.
Great video as usual. I probably get more use out of your extras videos but both channels are great The detail factory brush looks nice but I picked up the carscope brush instead for half the price. Based on the pictures im expecting it to be pretty similar and a boost in quality over the in2detailing brush. We shall see :)
I have always used autoglym tyre shine which in my opinion looks the best of all I have tried BUT all my tyres have cracked within a short time. This includes my car, caravan and other cars in our family They all cracked within 2to 3 years Great vid as always
Thanks for watching :) It's definitely worth looking at GT Tyre Serum as an alternative, that kept the sidewall my old tyres looking brand-new for ages
@ will do but after watching your video I love the effect of the carbon collected sateen and after spending far too much on michelin pilots I was going to buy this one. Thanks again
Hi Heather, nice video,I usually use Megs Endurance tyre gel,but have changed to Turtle Wax one which don't seem as thick. it will last longer as a product I think.
Thanks Steven, I prefer Turtle Wax’s over Megs, definitely feels less sticky to apply. The bottle lasts ages as well, think I’ve had mine a couple of years now and still got a bit left
Im using Fusso Tyre Wax and I like it ....just like putting shoe polish on your shoes, even smells like polish, and you can buff it off to improve the looks and give it a shine but I tend to just leave it as it is with a nice black colour
Some really great tips here 👍. I'm using Soft99 Tyre Wax at the moment. It comes with its own applicator (a stippled foam pad) and has reasonable durability, I reckon about a month/6 weeks conditions depending. Prior to this I tried Megs Endurance. As a liquid it was easy to apply but I found the durability to be lacking compared to their claims.
Thanks Rob :) Soft99 Tyre Wax is a really interesting one, definitely a good option if you're not a fan of glossy tyres. It's great on trim too, I've mainly used it for that
Have you tried Amour Detail Supplies Ghost tyre sealant? I've just bought a bottle as I've seen a number of videos and it looks great, Same process as you done here, clean tyres until browning has stopped. Dry apply some Carpro eraser or the like, dry again and apply two layers for a more satin/ gloss finish. 3 layers for a glazed doughnut. Its dry to touch once cured and is very hydrophobic. Although it seems to start to loose it gloss after a month but stays hydrophobic for months afterwards, I guess you could clean off the dirt and apply a layer back on for the gloss. Side note- I've curbed two of my diamond cut alloys- It was £46 more to buy a brand new rims £396 then get them refurbished £350. Not been a great week.😔
Gutted to hear about the alloys, I hope you’re having a better weekend! I’ve not tried any Armour Detail but been hearing quite a lot of good things about them recently
Great video! I’ve been use carpro darkside on my Michelin pilot sport 5 but the finish it’s always a bit oily especially for the velvet part, any recommendations?
Thanks! I get what you mean about the velvet part, it can be really awkward. I’ve just got some Darkside so I’ll give it a go on my car’s tyres and see if I can figure out anything to help and get back to you
@ Thank you! When I clean my ps5 I just use a big detail brush instead of a tyre brush and brush it gently cuz I thought the velvet part might come off if I rub too hard. I also bought turtle wax hybrid graphene tyre shine when it was on sale, gotta give it a try as well.
I like rebound followed by Surfex hd. The best investment I made was a dryer. Picked a bruhl 1900 dryer. Decent price. Not found in car detailing shops. Theresa a few to pick from 14000 bikes, 1900 for cars and I think 2400 for caravans motorhomes etc
@autocarehqextra had it two years. It's brilliant. There's usually £30 off that model as well. Looked a lot better option than ones advertised for cars at detailing shops. Bought it from Sportsbikeshop online. This model on bruhl advertises for cars.
The finish of my tyre dressing changes between vehicles. My black Astra coupe is on the glossy side , white Outlander is satin and i do the new Mazdas at work satin , this is purely done by wiping off excesses and evening out the finish. I think any new vehicle sitting in the showroom ready for delivery with beautiful satin tyre's look's classy.
Hey wondering if you have tried Auto Glanz Rebound as a Tyre and Rubber cleaner, defo a recommendation and would be a good product to compare to others
Hey, it’s mainly so I can do some different styles of videos that are a bit more niche. Usually only the vehicle transformation videos and bigger topics seem to do well on the main channel with it being a bit more of a broader subscriber base so if I talk about more specific chemical reviews or how-to topics they don’t do that well. Just means I can separate that kind of content on here without it messing with the UA-cam algorithm on the main channel!
@@autocarehqextraok cool. I thought I hadn't seen this channel before but after commenting here, I found that I'd messaged on another video previously, just hadn't noticed it was your second channel. Regards
Yep I’ve recently tried Gyeon’s and CarPro Darkside, they’re quite sticky feeling on application but the finish is lovely. Durability is good too. Only thing with Gyeon though is that the tyre didn’t feel like it fully dried out even the next day and was still a touch sticky
Once I have a good strong base layer I just wipe my tires with a rinseless wash once every week and reapply the dressing (even if I dont wash the whole car). I leave the dressing overnight and wipe it down with a mf towel before driving the next morning. With time this will build up a very durable protection of the tire.
Yep pretty much the way I do it myself I tend to pre rinse with snow laced with citrus on the paint & wheels & rinse then hit the wheels and tyres with wheel cleaner overlaid with snow foam then clean tyres then wheels and do use a softer brush on the tyres when I am not doing a deep clean normally in Spring & Autumn or really dirty tyres. I just bought a Mazda 3 AWD Sport Tech Skyactive X and as you know I have coveted your MX5 paint for some time so obviously that is the colour I went for. So two Mazda's now I wonder if it will get to three in a couple of years. A choice between T Wax graphene tyre dressing or GT Serum my Litre bottle is nearly done so I will be trying Yum next I think.
.... I used bullsnot shine a bull .... it is disappointing that you can't leave comments .... it's odd that my product does not spray wide like it does in their video ....
I think it really depends on the dressing. With GT Tyre Serum for example the tyres look clean pretty much all the time after the base layer has built up
How you don’t have more subs is beyond me. In a sea of bullshit “detailing UA-camrs”, I appreciate the direct, pragmatic approach.

Have you tried Gyeon and CarPro tire dressings? How did you like them?
Yep I’ve recently tried Gyeon’s and CarPro Darkside, they’re quite sticky feeling on application but the finish is lovely. Durability is good too. Only thing with Gyeon though is that the tyre didn’t feel like it fully dried out even the next day and was still a touch sticky
@autocarehqextra yup, I agree - Gyeon Tire works for me only when wiped after with mf towel. Without that it looks too flashy and also sticky.
Once I have a good strong base layer I just wipe my tires with a rinseless wash once every week and reapply the dressing (even if I dont wash the whole car). I leave the dressing overnight and wipe it down with a mf towel before driving the next morning.
With time this will build up a very durable protection of the tire.
