Its interesting state of things. When proper hip hop has center stage the proper cats are getting paychecks. When it drifts back underground it recoups purity. Its honestly a win win situation. I know it doesn't feel that way when the radio plasters useless ass shit over the airwaves, but understand friends its all a cycle. Real shit will have its day again.
Wow man i remember first listening to this shit back in highschool. this is the same time i discovered old school Em, virtuoso, insight jedi mind tricks, aesop rock, benefit and a few others i cant think of at the moment. Man this brings me back to when hiphop was in its golden era. Listening to songs like this today makes me feel like im at hip hops funeral listening to a eulogy. Hip hop where art thou. Only present day rappers that are keepin up are Slaughterhouse.
@@666sk8erguy Jesus fucking Christ I made this comment 14 years ago. I'm a 40 year old fart now. How I feel about hip hop now? Honestly I don't really fuck with a lot of shit out there and keep to my old head/classic shit. The versuz series during the pandemic was fire as fuck, and I love seeing Harry Mack the god tier freestyler do his thing. 2018 was a great fucking hear for hip hop. Pusha T roasted drake, Styles dropped a fire album, Jcole dropped, Royce Da 5'9 dropped, Em dropped and Nas. There was some other shit, but I don't remember off the top, but that was the best year in hip hop in a long while, and there was a lot of good Sway freestyles too. R.A. the Rugged man dropped that heat in 2020, so there's some gems I guess. Wrote a book here, but yea that's my old head take lol. Peace homie and thanks for reminding me about this song.
@@Macsimus007 can’t believe you even replied man lol! Respect! But yeah I feel largely the same. Not as old as you at 28 but still agree 2013-18 had some dope shit. Peace ✌️
It's not only the same sample, it's the same exact beat. This was on the B-Side for Mr. Lif's 12" for Triangular Warfare/Arise that came out in like 1998, Sage's cut is on a mixtape that came out later. Sage is just rapping over the Lif/Akrobatik beat.
more ppl have to be aware of this shit! AHH i just wanna flip a table over everytime i hear this!!! "we stand lines above your highest point, 93 million styles above your flyest joint"!!!!!!!!!!!!!ahhhhh "LIF and akrobatin always blowin the spot, cause' we do the type of shit the average human cannot, spand the globe on foot, in a day in-a-half, go back in time and tell Confusious that he don't know that MATH hahahahahahahah yesss!!!!!
hip hop will never die. its getting so much better. it kills me 99% of it is undiscovered by the general public. oh well. who gives a shit. i got the music, i like it, and i had to find it myself so im set
Akrobatik brings the closest thing to lyrical perfection When I extent my tecs send spiritual conections Never catch me lounging in the ignorant section Kill emcees for my profession, with the lyrical (invection?) injection
I remember watching them live in Boston performing this in 1999, fuc#ing great!
Still amazing! Precise lyrical ability and verbal symmetry! Shout out to everyone who knows the great feeling you get from rhymes like these
One of the best verses ever by Akrobatik and Mr.Lif

Summer 1999 I believe this was the underground hit.
Back here again, this song still gives me the chills.
