Farid Zakaria: If you were to live in India you will realise that labour isn’t cheap at all. Everyone thinks they are cat’s whiskers, low end jobs aren’t for them. They want Govt jobs so that life is sorted out without working. Moreover, even if you get labour they are expensive and inefficient, or will deliver much less than paid for that too with poor quality, and it’s all being made worse by free grains, payments into accounts. Govt is squeezing limited number of tax payers so much that they have very little left beyond meeting two ends, to save or spend on consumer goods. No doubt the economy is slowing down. We aren’t getting to be a manufacturing hub, at best 3k USD per capita is India’s lot. Sad!
Hahaha , we will cross 3k in per capita income by 2030 latest. It's a no brainer ..save this comment. The power of compounding will literally propel us for the next 4 decades. 3k is just a milestone
Need to end the freebie culture of Indian politics
That along with labour reforms
Pessimism understood and justified but GDP crosses $3k in a year or max 18 months. Inspite of everything. Tailwinds are really good too. Population is stabilizing. People not wanting to do hard manual work will actually help mechanization and improve productivity. Time to actually start charting path to $10Tn economy by 2035, as 5Tn is a given by 2026 end
India is failing on the 3 main characters of a developed nation.
Rupee losing 30% of its value between 2015-19, per-cap slowing down vs neighbours like even Bangladesh, Income-inequality at worst.
Can these fools get at least 1 thing good.
@@alani3992 the numbers coming from bangladesh are quite low
since the govt ouster, bangladesh is growing at rate quite slower than india./
fy25 will be interesting
Shri Farid Zakaria is a enlighted journalist & a thoughtful person.
"World's foremost foreign affairs guru"???😂 You have to be really thick between the ears to think of Zakaria as a guru of anything besides reading press releases for the State Deptt, Pentagon & White House!!
Touche ❤
+ 100. Rahul Kanwal acting so silly and perhaps reflection of an inferiority complex? 😂
For the conditions and challenges of India with 1.4 B people Covid-19 on the whole wasn’t handled badly. Secondly, would differ that all college graduates are for Democrats and the lesser classes/ education are for Republicans..
So Zakaria as a news caster is an economics expert, foreign expert, election strategies. Too much importance for a media person. His views about manufacturing are totally naive. Now is also a China-India expert! Just give him all the nobel prizes.
He is a glorified plagiarist selling the US agenda to fawning sycophants in India.
Bruh!! 😂😂😂
india is not a $2700 per capita economy? where as US is $65k per capita UK is $40k and china is $12k 🤡
He is a spinner of stories, but compared to the Indian media he looks good.
What a jackass. Opposition vote in India didn’t get divided. In fact all opposition came together and put up a unified front, even if they have nothing in common.
Not exactly true
If those coalition partners bjp is alligned with were in one party and it’s an anti incumbent environment they don’t win
The debate bet Rahul &Zakeeria is useful & benefits the listeners.
Hope the Likes of Zarakia + KANWAL types have now learned their lesson in statecraft
Why do you give such accolades to DrZakaria. He is oblivious to Indic perspective. He is uneducated who assumes that the western narrative
😂 what did he say wrong? that india is a poor. country? 2700 per capita vs west with 60k plus😢
@ sure I dis is poor, but what says is that it is so because it is not a tool of the west.
India was pulled down because it let foreigners come in and take over. It is India’S own fault
Nobody else s and it must reassert itself .In my profession a tennis teacher there are no opportunities in India . I hold a Ph D in philosophy and have developed top tennis players in Ohio but I have had very few Indian students, they are still consumed by worshipping the west. Like you their metric is skewed
India had no chess players 30 years and now they rule the world. The worst sports nation in the world They are supposed to. E good in cricket and they lose to Newzealand with a population of 5 million. The reason is simple namely the slave mindset is too deep .
My students are all exclusively white because Indians don’t trust Indians despite my steller record of developing the top talent in the Midwest .i am fine with my clientelle but it is sad that tennis players in India were more concerned with their English then their forehands or fitness
@madhav97 These people can't see the reality of where things are headed.
No wonder record migrations of desperate people, while those that can't leave worship some politicians,
Who is he really to be giving Gyan
This is only in Indian media such as INDIA TODAY, who prefers western press vis a vis their journalist over Indian geopolitical experts to know about geoplitics around India.
When they gain confidence over their own Independent (in true sense) domain experts.
Infact, Farid knows little on dynamic & complex relations between India & US.
He knows but has to genuflect to the west to maintain his status
14:20 is when he talks about India's opportunity
Such a long interview! You should have covered Pakistan and Bangladesh too.
Does America follow International Law when it does regime change? The latest example is the regime change in Bangladesh which has been detrimental to Hindu interests. Unfortunately our Champion of Hindutva with 56 inch chest , Claiming to be Vishwa Guru dare not even criticize American overt attack on security of India.
No. And this Harvard Graduate is here to justify it and make Bombay idiots follow this Pied Piper.
You are too emtional. You also have to play a subtle game
Emotions dont win war we needs to be more careful, and move carefully
@@arunjetli7909: Stating a fact is not being emotional
@@pardeeptandon they are a super power with gdp 6-7 times india. With GDP per capita of 30 times of india. strongest military machine with the most advanced techThey can do what they like for now and we cant! thats hard power and reality for you
Rahul kissing as_ in hope of a job at CNN and prob where his talents are better suited.
Worlds foremost? heiiii..
Modi walks the talk unlike the opposition.
Zakaria is dead wrong that covid wasn’t handled well. Everyone else dolled money out and have gone into recession that most major economies haven’t come out including Zakaria’s country, the USA
wtf you saying man? US economy us growing and doing really well.
@@madhav97 Only the number is going up. Inflation is very high.
I have a feeling we will waste this golden opportunity..
Trump blows his trumpet without rhyme or reason he is also transactional in his behaviour ,weird personality.
Sometimes,you need such people
Either a bit opinionated or mild ignorance. E.g.: India didn’t handle the Corona crisis, he says!!
Of all Western "thought leaders" these are few who come across as the ones bullshiting you.

2) Bill Kristol

6) Anne Applebaum
7) Ian Bremmer
8) Peter Zeihan

What Zakaria calls “Indians” is the elite minority which has lost the trust of Indian people. His double talk is not unknown to people who have watched him for some time.
Why would we want to hear his western narrative its not important in india anymore
Who is he ?
Zakaria is not a balanced Journalist. He is soft pedaling the Islamist view. In the US, People have stopped taking him seriously.
India will never overtake china because of places like west bengal where there's no scope for manufacturing business
Young man that will change as well
Delusional host & even more delusional "expert". What a waste of time.

If you came to comments first: Don't watch!
😂Just another display of ignorance!😂
India has one of the cheapest labor one can get.
The cost of domestic assistance in India ranges from 3,000 to 4,000 Indian Rupees.
The cost is as low as it can be. It takes 4x to 6x as much work for Indians to earn the same amount as Americans do.
ये cnn का चाटुकार हैं
Useless interview of 2 woke so called journos
