They might have been asleep at the wheel but the EU covers their back. 30-35% tariff on chinese cars. With some bulshit reasons. China need to ban their factories from china and see where their prices will go.
That colour is stunning. I like those rims too, best OEM design I've seen in ages - especially on an EV. Also glad to see it has a physical shade for the glass roof. Those shadeless design roofs look cool, but they are impractical for Australian summers.
If it comes with a shade on certain models or once it’s in AU for sale, it will make life so great. I have a Tesla, love it but parking outisde on a hit Aussie day.. even with the ac prior to entering the cabin doesn’t help. I’d really love to check one of these out. Looks very luxurious. Great review 👏🏻
I sat in this car back in October in their showroom in Shanghai. The quality of finish is amazing!! I hope this in my next upgrade from my current Atto3! 😅
This actually looks good inside and out with great features. If it drives anywhere near as good as it looks, i reckon this will sell well and maybe cause a few headaches for the incoming Juniper
Test drove the Zeekr X weeks ago and blown away with the quality, finish and price point. Will be definitely getting the 7X as i need more space for family!
Love the look and specs of this car. I've been waiting for pricing since it was announced over a year ago. If it can priced around the new model y, it will definitely sell.
I am considering Zeekr 7X, but also the XPeng G9 and the Cadillac Lyriq. Have sat in the G9 (at the Sydney Expo) and the Lyriq (at Cadillac show room in Rosebery, Sydney). The Lyriq will be available for test drives and sale early next year, while the Chinese are, at best, at the end on '25, or in '26 I believe. I am loving the Lyriq - the size and style are quite distictive and impressive. It's got that WOW factor when you look at it. Inside is very well appointed too. Importantly, it has been out in the US for over a year and the GM has had time to adress the initial software issues. I am looking forward to test-driving it!
I would recommend the Zicker to you because of its innovation and because of the 100 KW battery. And this, of course, after you examine the vehicles with your own eyes.
I believe a German auto media put this car (or other zeeker, sedan) and Xiaomi under long term test, going through harsh conditions. 4Ok without a single issue, simply outstanding reliability, even Toyota cars cannot do better.
7x official price in china start at 230,000 RMB-270,000RMB(There are some policy about discount and optional item free, real Sold price is lower then the official price) = 49,900AUD - 58,600AUD ,60K-80K AUD may be a competitive price for Aussie
Wow. The first Chinese car and first electric car that I would buy in a heartbeat. Just stunning. Sorry to be a safety-nerd though, but thing that occurred to me - how would those awesome fold out rear tables interact with a torso and head in a decent sized prang? Even when latched close, they would probably unlatch and fall open mid-collision (gloveboxes always seem to). Having seen plenty of IIHS crash testing, I suspect they'd do a fair bit of damage to the rear seat passengers.
Would have to be a big accident wouldn't it? My guess is the airbags would deploy between them. I prefer this than a tablet or laptop flying around the cabin even in a mid range crash.
German car designer Stefan Sielaff (former Audi & Mercedes & Bentley) is in charge of design at Zeekr. Not all that different to German brand cars that are made in China anyway.
Looks decent will wait to see the australian price would prefer the mix but I am also liking the xpeng G9 which is looking to be around the 60k mark for a 8 seater
I am looking forward to the arrival of Zeekr 7X in Australia but am really concerned of the lack of dealer network in Brisbane as well as the availability of spare parts should anything goes wrong. Can't afford to be without a car waiting weeks for the spare parts to arrive from China. This will be deal breaker if Zeekr can't assure the Australian consumers.
They really want to reassure Australian consumers, and even want to help establish various infrastructure networks for the local market like Tesla. You should know that this is very simple for Chinese companies. But the Five Eyes Alliance under US control and Europe's resolute obedience to US interests, even kidnapping Chinese entrepreneurs like Canada, pose great risks to large-scale investments. They have a double standard. When Trump launched a trade war against China, they were willing to be accomplices of the United States. Canada even sent warships to China's coast for provocation when Trump announced an increase in tariffs on Canada, showing more loyalty than the Japanese. But when Trump launched a trade war against themselves, they instantly defended themselves, it's too shameless.
This car looks just beautiful 😍. Thank you for the wonderful first look review of the car. the electric car innovation coming from China atm is crazy. Big players are already feeling the heat.
This looks like a fantastic SUV that I’d be very interested in if and when it comes to Australia. The LR AWD version would interest me. Beautifully designed and equipped. Thanks for showing us this beautiful vehicle.
Thanks - an EV that seems close to ideal. Great looks, size, tech, quality. Very promising. Was anticipating an ICE for my next purchase - possibly a Merc 300GLC or BMW X3 G45. But here’s an EV that ems to tick the boxes so I’ll hold off. Impatiently waiting for a test drive in Aussie 😅
Stunning car and paint colour. They have done everything right interior packaging wise. Would skip the rear screen though, kids should be looking out the window like we had to 😂 Will you check out the BYD Leopard 5 while you are in China?
Thanks mate! Haha, yeah, we used to hold a pen on some paper and close our eyes for ages and see what picture it made! (Travelled around Australia when I was 6/7 for three months - so the road trip games thing is real for me). Didn’t go with BYD so had no chance to drive it. But hopefully soon!
Those mentioned alternatives maybe just expected as price wise. But in terms of size, power, range, none of the mentioned alternatives come close. I hope they are as good as what the spec indicated.
Its the software and how the car performs that should be the focus for EV reviews rather than on map pockets and cup holders . Thats hard to do in a controlled environment but Chinese EVs struggle to keep the cars speed around bends with cruise activated, have issues with bms at low soc, some are restricting the number of DC chargers per day as they dont manage the battery temp that well. Slow screen responds times, and for navigation and some dont even show soc on arrival or range!!! Others are known to bounce between the lanes with lane keep assist on and others pulsate as it tries to maintain the set speed. The software may guess the range and hide the efficiency during a trip as it fails to accurately determine the range when the conditions change. If most of your driving is around town then less emphasis on those points above, it comes down to AC chargering speeds and how well the car manages the compulsory safety warnings. EVs can be rushed to market with flaws with promises of a software release will address that in the future. I don't see a lot of Chinese EV makers spending a lot of resources in that area when most are struggling to make a profit
The bling is bedazzling but what is it really like under the paint? Is the design and engineering up to par? Are the fasteners, materials and manufacturing up to standard? These new manufacturers are popping up everywhere and I for one would like to see many millions of miles travelled before considering one.
I watched an early review on this car a few months ago by Gilevich Sergey and was extremely impressed. Its got a bit of Porsche Cayene about it too. Now im confused between this and the Genesis GV70 which is also beautiful. Although not electric. I wish they offered a proper hybrid type as well like the Toyotas do. Regardless this thing will kick ass im sure. Electric cars will offer great value on depreciation within a year or two.
There is no reason to fear batteries. ZEEKR batteries are designed to have an exceptionally long lifespan. They come from the world's number one battery manufacturer CALT, with a significant difference from the competition.
Impressive for the indicative cost. Now for some practicalities... Who will distribute this vehicle? What is their local track record of supporting customers post-sale? How long will owners have to wait for replacement components/panels/doors/etc in the event of an accident? Who will be willing/qualified to work on them? How will insurance companies be able to set attractive premiums for a car/vendor/importer with no local history?
Sorry but I wouldn’t be putting $70-90k into a car where the service and support could evaporate over night if a new brand decides there is no future in a small market like Australia. No matter how good it is. Prices of EVs and any new car is out of control from at the moment 😞
It looks great inside and out, and may be on my list as a replacement for my SL6. Pricing might be an issue though. I'd prioritize range and of-road ability ahead of alleged luxuries like "massaging seats". (My wife and I tried them in an Outlander and thought they were hopeless.) The giganta-HUD in the 7X sounds interesting and perhaps very useful. 7 seat vehicles are often tedious with cramped and uncomfortable rearmost seats, though I do enjoy seeing larger reviewers contort themselves to get in there (one with initials PM in particular😉), but the end result is always that same: poor comfort, no leg space, no toe room, poor ventilation. So, give me better luggage space in a comfortable 5-seat vehicle every time. I also think that right now, a lot are looking at the Shark, waiting to see what its off-road abilities are like in the production version, and that might have a bearing on the success of the 7X.
depreciation on a $60k-$70k EV will be huge within 1 year especially for a small 5 seater. look what’s happening to the Y, guys are getting rid of them with 5-8k miles on them. New battery technology and refresh is happening so quickly I don’t see many wanting to pay over $60k for a new EV.
Everything seems top notch until I saw the boot/trunk. Such a shame (but not unexpected). WHY don't the Chinese automakers understand that a 40/60 (without so called through loading solution) is NOT premium?!? 40/20/40 is the preferred solution for a lot more versatility.
its really annoying the amount of cars with glass roofs that open coming onto the market. lets the heat but you cant open to let the heat out. Cheap alternative to metal??
Zeekr have just started in Aus but they already have a few dealers which is pretty good considering they only have one model. Even if they didn't they share a lot of parts with other geely group high end EV's in Aus so servicing shouldn't be an issue
Nice ☺️ It's saved me a lot of money. I'll be using public transport whenever possible now thanks to your informative video. $45,000- $70,000!!! Nahh thanks. And I am by no means poor.
The meteoric development of the Chinese and ZEEKR in particular is like a meteor. The examples of vehicles you mentioned as competitors against the ZEEKR 7X are a joke. Obviously, I would choose the ZEEKR 7X over the competitors you mentioned in the article. Don't forget that ZEEKR also has a technological advantage in the field of batteries, which is a very important issue. Thank you
If it cost 1 dollar more than a model Y in Australia, it will not sell well regarding the features. Tesla is still the gold standard when it comes to pricing. I know Zeekr is trying to be a premium brand, but it’s relatively unknown outside china. So pricing must be aggressive
Not a Zeekr fan, but I don't know if it's possible for one to be "trying to be" a premium brand instead of the market reckoning it to be or not regarding what it offers? And also not a Tesla fan, but I would say Tesla's gold standard is fans' belief in Elon Musk, nothing else. I find it hard to believe that its cars could sold at such prices every time I sit in my friends' Models.
Thanks! It’s a larger thing than the Volvos, and far plusher feeling inside. Model Y is still excellent on space utilisation, but I don’t gel with it’s appearance, and while the controls are something you get used to, I think it’s a bit too science-experiment for my tastes. I’d have this over all of them.
All of EVs you mentioned (Skoda, BMW, Cupra) are hopeless compared to this. Legacy is going to get decimated. Tesla will also need to up their game if they want to keep their market share. I love my highland model 3 but these new Chinese EVs will definitely be high on the list when I replace my 2nd car which is ICE. Or will I make a bad decision and buy a 2010 ISF 😂
It's mainly leather though? I can't see much plastic considering the whole dash is leather, the door cards are covered in leather and almost all of the plastics that are there look soft touch and nice
Drive my nieces Tesla and while I can see the attraction to EV if it suits your life style…I’m older and cent my head around the environmental damage the cars do in manufacture of batteries and the fact like an iPhone they become a disposable product in a few years.
If its not for your taste i can understand but dont give false information propagated by oil corporates. Batteries are less pollutant than oil and its recyclable unlike oil.
And just when you think cars can't get much better than this. Check out the Huawei Avatr 07 and 12. The spoils coming out of China are going to be out of control. The rest of the world is in serious trouble. The problem for the others is that China will continue to improve relentlessly where the others can't afford to do that except for maybe the Koreans. As far as the Europeans and Americans. Say your farewells now sadly.
@@therightcar Ok. They said it will come with 3 different vertions but I wonder how they will manage 100 Kwh LFP battery, because it will be heavy for the car
Yeah wow. I was in two minds watching that. There's a lot in that car. It's very impressive. But also a lot to go wrong. Id want to live close to a service centre if I owned it. It's an odd thought putting this up against premium Europeans. But they have to start somewhere.
Once they try it's not hard to change someone mind,a long term German car lover, but will consider Zeekr, Nio and BYD as my next car to replace my Mercedes eventually..

And also not a Tesla fan, but I would say Tesla's gold standard is fans' belief in Elon Musk, nothing else. I find it hard to believe that its cars could sold at such prices every time I sit in my friends' Models.
Zeekr X is more expensive than a base model Model Y. So yeah this will be more expensive for sure
Price isn’t everything to everyone, though. Some people will pay more to have something different.
Not everyone wants a telsa, it will sell well
Geely, the fastest growing auto brand in the world in 2024.
Keep the Chinese EV reviews coming please
Nice video! How would you rank the x7 in comparison to a xc40/C40 or a model Y?
Was this in China or aus
China. He was over there to test some cars recently.
Buy the ISF. You won’t regret it.
why dose it look like LeapMotor C10 ....
When U say "luxurious" how does that compare to other familiar higher end brands, e.g. BMW, Mercedes?
Genesis-like. Very impressive.
Model Y killer.
I want this or the xpeng g9
The outside is beautiful but holy crap the interior is just too muck plastic for it to be called luxury tbh
It's mainly leather though? I can't see much plastic considering the whole dash is leather, the door cards are covered in leather and almost all of the plastics that are there look soft touch and nice
I will take this over Audi bmw and merc anytime 😮
Wow!
Drive my nieces Tesla and while I can see the attraction to EV if it suits your life style…I’m older and cent my head around the environmental damage the cars do in manufacture of batteries and the fact like an iPhone they become a disposable product in a few years.
I understand your trepidation.
But you can get your head around the decades of environmental damage of the fossil fuel industry?
Batteries are recycled, gas isn’t
If its not for your taste i can understand but dont give false information propagated by oil corporates. Batteries are less pollutant than oil and its recyclable unlike oil.
Geez mate, wheel is on the wrong side!
Sorry, next Zeekr I review, it’ll be on the correct side. Promise.
@ it looks the business though!
Needs rear wheel steering. A bonnet scoop for aggressive looks would be nice.
Why on earth would you corrupt it with rear-wheel steering??
@ large car, easier parking. I’m thinking about rediculously small shopping centre car space sizes.
That is not an suv
China is making cars faster than I change my trousers 😅
Does it have a frunk ❤
👍👍
Up until the Chinese resolve their computer interface ❤❤
Toyota should be ashamed for what they give you for 80k. An ugly prado gx.
You forgot the third vertion, LFP of 100 Kwh battery :D
Spec sheet I saw only had two listed.
Yeah I understand that point of view. Fewer mechanical bits for the powertrain but then lots of mechanical bits for the doors!
Matt, ain’t nobody gonna buy this if they are initially considering a BMW etc
Meanwhile, the German automakers are closing the factories; they both have their bright futures.🤡
I think you’ll find there are a lot of Chinese customers who buy BMWs who might be enticed by a luxury option from their home country.
Once they try it's not hard to change someone mind,a long term German car lover, but will consider Zeekr, Nio and BYD as my next car to replace my Mercedes eventually..
@@therightcar Chinese customers are too much about brand names. Buying a domestic car is not the right image for the target market you’re talking about.
@@passby8070 yeah sure.
Now with Freeland gone and Trudeau likely gone soon, hope this car will come to Canada but I am not holding my breath. Whoever succeeds Trudeau will follow America's lead to total economic meltdown.
Time will tell!
They could have given it a different name..
Zeekr sounds like the mozzie disease 😂
I agree. But it stands for something.
ZE for zero, or a fresh start
E for electric era
KR for Krypton, a gas that emits light when electrified
unless the buyers are Chinese they rather go for Tesla for safe choice
The Australian Tesla is made in China. Heaps of my friends have already bought Chinese over Tesla.
