Crystal you are blessed to have a hubby and kids that can step up like this. My husband after all the years of animals would have run screaming to me and even if I had been dying I would have had to deal with it. Hope you feel better soon! The kids are cute!

Me too! No matter sick or well, I am out tending the animals!
Mine too. Anytime there was a commotion outside or some strange wild animal sounds that freaked him out, he'd run screaming to me and I was always the one to go out the door to investigate. The one time he ran out the door he never came back LOL. He moved back to the city. Personally, I'd much rather deal with any animal than listen to sirens and people doing stupid things any day.
That is wild. That stinks that Winnie didn't want to have anything to do with them. Those kids are beautiful. I hope those 3 make it.

The doe who was up against the fence appeared to be having trouble with her front left leg. I hope she improves. And I hope Crystal takes the time needed to recover. Sorry Winnie isn't behaving. I assume the birthing must have been pretty traumatic.
2024 Kidding season had a Rough End 💔. The little one looks just like her daddy Marshall .So Marshall had 6 Does and 1Buck .the Vader line definitely loves to throw Does .
I think Winnie had 3 does(1 passed)1 buck!

2024 must be a tough kidding year for many. This is only my 5th year,but first 4 were pretty uneventful. This year,we lost one to a birth defect and one premature birth 2 triplets survived,one was stillborn. Thank God for loving, responsible breeders like you and crystal

Nope! This is common in first timers or may be she's traumatized with prolapse and then quads🙂

@@TheLegend_8252 maybe for ND but not my Spanish x Saanen cross. She was the best first time mother I could have hoped for. She knew what was going on and knew exactly what to do.
I also had a first timer ND and she was not a good mother. Her kids died at 2 weeks old. I should have just pulled and bottle raised them entirely.

Let's give poor Winnie a break. She was by herself and there were 4 babies. No one saw the birth. She may have been a little bit in shock. (I know I would've been after four babies 😳). Don't hate on Winnie. Sometimes things just happen.

I want to just pick up the struggling one and hold it, feed it, til it can stand on its own. Of course, I wouldn't be getting anything else done! lol. SO I put it in God's hands, said a prayer. I hope it makes it. Winnie is not built for making babies, is she? Maybe it's a hormone thing connected to her prolapse physiology? Who knows. One of nature's mysteries.

How extraordinary that the three babies made it! Some females (regardless of species) just aren’t good mothers. Maybe Winnie was thrown off by the fact that the kids were born en caul? I’m glad you were there to assist and revive the babies!
