Sitting at the boat ramp waiting for another rain cloud to pass and Mr. President Dudley comes out with another BANGER answering ALL my current questions. Your not only speaking to my mind brother. Your talking to my soul!
Great information!! Wheeler & Wilson Lakes are like this a lot in late spring into June. This year we had a TON of rain and it was chocolate milk for a good while. Next time i will know better how to approach it. Thanks!!
Hi David just before lake norman got all the rain the weather was hot and the fishing was slow after all the rain me and my son were fishing at the lake norman state park side of the lake about the same time you were fishing at the hwy 150 bridge on the lake and man what a difference the rain and muddy water made the fishing was great!! we caught 50 fish for the 3 days we fished that week more small bass then big bass but that's lake norman we used about the same crankbaits you were using ..thanks for the great video and fish that muddy water!!
Great video love the flooded muddy water break down! When you picked up the spinning rod was surprised to see a crankbait tied on why use the spinning rod with that crankbait?
Another great video David timing couldn’t be better with all the weather the east is getting. Never thought about white contrast in muddy water I always go straight the the chartreuse may have to give that a try.
Thanks David. I'm looking forward to Champlain very much. You and John are two of my favorite anglers. If John already had an AOY then I would be rooting for you 100%. Now I have to root for both of you guys and I hope it comes down to the last day and one fish. How exciting would that be? No matter what whoever wins will deserve it. Good luck to you sir!
I'm sure it's quite a chore to video and edit all these David, but we REALLY appreciate all that you do. Thanks for all the tips and the time that you spend on getting these out to us. You ARE the man.
Yes it is a chore not only is it a chore! I am going in the whole every month loosing money! Once I travel and pay for editing work buying equipment..It burns a hole in my pocket! That's why I try to beg for SHARES..LIKES..COMMENTS.. I won't be able to keep this pace up forever if the tables don't turn!
I don't run into muddy conditions very often on Lake Champlain, but it's good to know what to do when/if it does... thanks for another great video Dave. Btw, the cottonwood is starting to bloom up here and when it gets bad, you have to clean that crap off your line about every cast... just something you may have to contend with next week. See you soon!
I thought I knew most all I needed to be a good fisherman but continue picking up tons of new info and learning from you that paying attention out there will show me more than stuff playing on the surface and nice views. The WAIT is ALMOST OVER MAN!!! The thrilla in the hydrilla up here on Champlain for number FOUR is just around the corner!
I never knew that I was so close to a pro, since I just moved to the Hickory area from up north. Hopefully one day I can fish and learn from you. Coming off Lake Hickory last night for the first time (8pm-10pm), we landed a 3.17lbs largemouth. They were like I suspected - within 5 feet or less right next to the bank. Going to try Lake Norman in the morning and use what I learned from you. Thanks!
Good stuff. I am asking out of ignorance and not to be contrary. ( evidence of fancy book learnin’) Is that actually thermocline or a combo of sediment and water temp difference? Also, do you ever fish tree branches that are submerged but still floating?
Depth finders are so good now a days that the can pick it up as I showed in the content. A thermocline is a thin but distinct layer in a large body of fluid in which temperature changes more rapidly with depth than it does in the layers above or below. In the ocean, the thermocline divides the upper mixed layer from the calm deep water below. Wikipedia I do make casts at all objects but if it is floating it can't be bouncing!
Good video, Lake Gaston got muddy also. Caught some good ones today anyway. They are releaseing alot of water from Kerr Lake and the channel is clearing and was 65 degrees this morning.
@@DavidDudley Yes, tis morning it was 67 degrees in the river end from like Great Ck. up. The water from Kerr comes from the bottom of the dam. Its runnung at a fast flow and for longer pds.
Perfect timing for this video. I will be fishing my first Kayak anglers tournament this weekend. The weather is expecting 5" of rain before June 22nd. I will take what you just showed me and hopefully do well. Thank you Chris
From my experience there is a fine line between muddy and muddy enough.. water color you fished in this video wasnt quite colored enough to put them up against the bank but it was enough to put them up against cover. Any darker and they'd be in inches of water. If you and I were in a dark room we would reach out to feel our surroundings and stay close to things we feel. But if were in a dark room and dont feel safe we would likely hide up against or under something. Same thing applies for bass. I personally LOVE flooded waters. I'm a jig flipper and mud is the jigs best friend.
Awesome video. It’s crazy bc I was just out on the lake an trying to figure it out an then come home watch your video an it’s the same conditions I was just in. Thanks for all your hard work big dog. The videos are very helpful!! Keep the good work 👊🏻👊🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅🎣🐟
When is a good time to use bright colors? I was given spinner baits and swim jigs in orange and green. I don’t know if the person just wanted to get rid of them or if there are conditions to use them in.
Seems like you were fishing during a post spawn feed up Dave. It seemed as though the fish didn't mind how muddy or high the lake was. They were very hungry after a long time of not really actively eating during a good amount of time spawning.
Last week when I got some squarebills out they were tracking funny, not sure what was happening but I got some roundbills out and they ran fine. Although the water here has been pretty clear I do need to pick up some black and white crankbaits for the times when we have some stained water. Heading out tomorrow evening to take advantage of the full moon , I hear that the first full moon after the spawn is a good time for some wake baits and glide baits so I will go out and disprove yet another fishing wives tail. Happy Fathers day David, I hope you are able to spend the day with the kids.
I noticed you were cranking with a spinning rod. Im interested in your set up. I always throw cranks on a casting rod but ther lighter ones give me a hard time.
Just when I thought you couldn't learn me somthing else, you go and do this...and Totally Redeem yourself!😎 Jk glad to watch this one. Here in ohio I never have visibility more than a foot👣. Glad to know what you just showed us. 🔝knoch. God Bless and Fish On!👊🎣🐟
I'm always curious how pros setup their baitcasters. I recently changed from setting my spool tension by the bait slowly dropping, to setting it by just taking the side to side slop out of it. Also was able to bring my brakes down a lot. I backlash a little bit more often now, but I can still control it for the most part....minus skipping 😬
Why do none of you guys have Bluetooth headphones!? I see you and J Wheels and Scott all with that phone against your shoulders talking while fishing haha Just waiting on that hook set phone drop blooper real!
Another great video, I do hope you come to lake Keowee because there’s a lot of Tournament’s their, then throw hartwell in you could fish a tournament every weekend If you wanted to. I would love to see you break down Keowee that would be awesome 👏 Hope you have some great days of fishing 🎣 on Champlain & God bless you brother!🙏
Hah! not really. Its full of small skinny spotted bass and the boat traffic is horrendous this time of year. It can be good in the prespawn and at night but it's really a numbers lake.
Awesome vid... I live in Florida and the rain and heat are in full bloom... My only question is and you didn't show any film of it but the laydowns. Are you ever flipping them and what condition you look for to flip them
My home lake is averaging about 30ft. Thermocline is huge. I wish you would do a video on it. Most of time during summer is is about 20ft deep. It is a clear deep lake.
Thank for making this wonderfully insightful video. Lake Norman is my home lake and I've fished those very areas with mixed results. I'm new to your channel & hope to see you on the water. You can always find me #FromTheEdge2TheLedge, where the fish of a Lifetime is #JustAcastAway.
Great tips and info David .But your giving out too much good info 🤣🤣 Its so funny on my local rivers when its muddy no ones fishing.Ive caught my biggest fish fishing muddy water and mud lines.
"I can't afford no fancy equipment" Meanwhile this guy is fishing on a multi-ten thousand dollar boat rigged with thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Thanks for the laugh.
Usually the fish stay deep in cooler water due to low oxygen levels in warm water. Or if they are up top they are in grass due to plants providing oxygen or by streams or creek entrances or coves where the water churns and even in high traffic boating lanes where the boats churn the water. Cheera

GREAT video! Very informative!
Awesome video David showing the practical application of things you have been showing us. I’m a fan!!
Thank you Mike !
Video’s in the rain! Dedicated! Thx Dave.
With no rain suit and 63 that day lolol
A country boy can survive!

Most fish are white in mud!
😝 lol
Basically spot on for KY
Man I hate that the Asian carp are taking over!
David Dudley Outdoors yeah they are all over. I guess it will take a couple years to really see the impact
Love the information!! Thx for sharing..
No problem GabooNX thanks for watching 5
The break down, DD, as usual bringing the mojo, this time singing some muddy water blues. Love it! Thanks DD for being real and sharing.
Thanks David. I'm looking forward to Champlain very much. You and John are two of my favorite anglers. If John already had an AOY then I would be rooting for you 100%. I still remember when the season started and you made the video about your season long goals and AOY was the main goal. Can't wait
Thank you for the support joshua!

David Dudley Outdoors and that is why the lights on the Goodyear blimp say “Dudley’s a Pimp”.

Another video that I enjoyed keep them coming
Thank you Terry!
Great video David learned a bunch thanks buddy 👍
Thank you SOF!
Awesome info David thanks so much!!
I'm surprised Norman gets a thermocline.
Only because of the massive rains and pulling water
From my experience there is a fine line between muddy and muddy enough.. water color you fished in this video wasnt quite colored enough to put them up against the bank but it was enough to put them up against cover. Totally agree NRV great observation
Another great video love watching you pattern these fish cool thing you pros can do. Why most of us don’t get to fish on Sunday on the big stage
It's not always easy Lee but just have to pay attention to details!

THE most informative video on finding patterns. Always great teaching moments. Thanks brother!
Thank you Robert for the kind words!
Braid/fluro good insight for me. Good video!
On my spinning I use 15# braid gamma to most of time 8 #floro braid
Do bass act the same in really green water like they do in muddy water?
It all deals with light penitration I have seen very thick green water and yes they act the same Good luck Mark
Thank you, and keep up the good work. I enjoy your insights.
Hey Dave, great informative as always. Really enjoy picking your brain and see what you’re thinking. God bless!
how bout a boat/trailer maintenance, peroration, and routine video?
That would be good video
Great usable info from this channel. Don't see stupid videos like "Catching monster bass out of sewer pipe" that other UA-cam goons post.
When is a good time to use bright colors? I was given spinner baits and swim jigs in orange and green. I don’t know if the person just wanted to get rid of them or if there are conditions to use them in.
Wow they are some wild colors but I would say early spring if I had to choose!
David Dudley Outdoors, that’s what I thought. I also thought about removing the orange skirts altogether and mixing the green with white.
Thanks for the great info Dudley. You never disappoint on your videos. Great job buddy. Keep them a coming. God bless.
They will keep coming as long as yall keep watching !
You live close to SML how come you don't do any videos on that lake?
Tipsville here. Thanks David
Seems like you were fishing during a post spawn feed up Dave. It seemed as though the fish didn't mind how muddy or high the lake was. They were very hungry after a long time of not really actively eating during a good amount of time spawning.

You are correct in saying glide and wake baits!
I noticed you were cranking with a spinning rod. Im interested in your set up. I always throw cranks on a casting rod but ther lighter ones give me a hard time.
That's why James you can cast further more acurate and most of all no back lashes!
Just when I thought you couldn't learn me somthing else, you go and do this...and Totally Redeem yourself!😎 Jk glad to watch this one. Here in ohio I never have visibility more than a foot👣. Glad to know what you just showed us. 🔝knoch. God Bless and Fish On!👊🎣🐟
I'm always learning myself something 2!
Learning alot from one of the OG gangsters of the fish game. Would love to share a boat for the day. Ever in Massachusetts look me up.
What are some of the places you fish up there!
1 1/2' visibility is pretty stained for Norman. It's normally more than 4'.
Very true Tommy
Lake Norman Queens Landing.

need a rod and reel video,of what u use
Keeping it real as always Brother!!! Great job DD!!! :D

Yea Andy hardly Noone can throw my stuff I keep it so loose!
What rods do you use and what's a good all-around all-purpose crankbait rod
Proficiency rods!
enjoyed video , anyone ever been to barren river lake ky. ? heading down there in 2 wks
No but I have heard of it good luck!
Why do none of you guys have Bluetooth headphones!? I see you and J Wheels and Scott all with that phone against your shoulders talking while fishing haha Just waiting on that hook set phone drop blooper real!

DD, is Lake Norman a spot I need to visit this summer? I’m headed to the East Coast after Champlain.
Hah! not really. Its full of small skinny spotted bass and the boat traffic is horrendous this time of year. It can be good in the prespawn and at night but it's really a numbers lake.
Nice fish thanks for showing us and posting videos on stuff like this
Can anyone tell me where to find the rods he uses It’s killing me I have to grab some
Profishcency rods
Perfect. Cause it’s freaking flooded EVERYWHERE!!!!!!
I so wish I would of had wifi at Buggs today to watch this
Yea I heard bugs is really high! I'm sure they are pulling water at same time!

so what made you decide to use crankbaits and spinnerbaits and not pitching?
Good question Regulator just trying to cover water and get a feel for what's going on in a short time that I had good queation!
