My son Michael at age 4 was an organ donor. He was always thinking of others. He often spontaneously selected some of his toys to donate. And he loved to shop for other children. When Michael was in an accident we knew he would want to give life to others. He saved several.

I'm so sorry for your deep loss! My nephew had a drowning accident and his organ's were also donated. We take comfort in knowing that Brayden still lives on in his recipient's that he gave the gift of life to.

I am a kidney transplant recipient. I want to say Thank You for all of those who are waiting on the list. For every donor family that says yes is 2 less people on the waiting list.
Those of you that are living donors THANK YOU. If everyone signs up to be a living donor there would be no list.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and sharing the information for organ donation. My husband had an emergency heart transplant on June 24th, 2022 at Duke University. He was a healthy 59 year old and we had no idea he had a heart problem. Within days of finding out he was on life support and barely hanging on. The donor was a 19 year old male who died from an accident. That is all we know about him. I pray for him and his family everyday! I cannot put into words how thankful we are for the gift they gave us. We are preparing our letter to send to the family. We hope they will respond. I cannot imagine the pain they are feeling at this time not having their loved one at the holidays. Thank you Smith family for giving the gift of life to strangers during your darkest time. To those who may read this comment I encourage you to consider being an organ donor.

I signed the donor pledge the day I turned 18, but I will say this, anyone who does, make sure your family knows, I've heard of it splitting families and that's not supposed to happen. My body is a shell, when I'm gone if I can help even one person I want to, and my family is super supportive. I know my diet and such mean I may not have much to offer, but anything is worth it if it helps someone.

Incredible video! Thank you SO much for sharing the story of River's kidney recipient. Gotta get you to quit apologizing when you cry. Nothing to be sorry for. Those tears and all of your genuine emotions matter. Hard to imagine that the recipient was on dialysis for all of River's life, and only after his gift to her was she able to be freed from that. There aren't sufficient words. Drone footage was amazing. Toy drive footage was amazing. Loved hearing about the sprouties (sp?). Great way to spend a Tuesday evening. Thank you all so much for all that you do for all of us. #YeeYee

It’s so hard putting into words when you get to meet your organ recipients. I have met 3 of the 4 recipients from my husband’s organs when he passed. They are now my extended family. So much in fact that i gave my left kidney to the same man who received my husbands kidney and pancreas. The only place my kidney would fit was right below my husbands. So thankful you got to meet your recipient. Praying for continued recovery for her and the other. To others reading this, please consider being an organ donor. It is indescribable being able to help someone else live.

We also leave our tree up until then. Another thing we always did was we told our children that they get 3 gifts just like Jesus did and then Santa would bring them other things. It always worked very well and the children didn’t expect to get a mountain of gifts.

My best friend lost her 20 year old daughter in a tragic way. She donated her organs and received a letter stating who the recipients were. They were adults. My friend was sad bc a young adult didn't benefit. I told her, "What if that adult who received her heart was your sister?" It is so humbling. I love your story about meeting the beautiful woman who received River's kidney. I love seeing your kids shop and give!

Beautiful tribute not just to River but his Mommy and Daddy. Granger. Live oaks grow huge in Fl and I have five in my back yard. But they don’t have deep root systems only shallow. Every hurricane I expect to find a tree in my pool. They can fall up to 2 weeks after ground gets saturated. Suggest you keep that tree topped so u don’t have it in your bedroom sometime.

So glad I finally watched the end of this video!! My mom has an over 100-150 year old oak in her front yard. I just, a few weeks ago, gathered a couple handfuls of the acorns in hopes to sprout enough to give to each of my five siblings and 17 nieces and nephews so each can have a piece of mom/grandmas oak tree. This tree has been in our family for 55 years. Thanks for the info.

I’m a nurse and lost a patient during dialysis last week. To see this, when I’m grieving for the family that I had comforted during the loss of their mother, is so healing. My 9 yr old granddaughter will require a heart transplant one day. I’m so grateful for people like River that donate organs. May God continue to bless you, Zelda and the man that you haven’t met. 🙏🏼❤️

My daughter was born in 1980, she had a bowel movement in utero and she had ingested Meconium, and had breathed it into her lungs, her birth Apgar was 0, but the team was able to get her breathing and her Apgar rose to 4. But, the damage from oxygen deprivation was going to be fatal. She was with us for 20 hours. I asked about organ donations but I was told that they didn't use babies or young children at that time. It would have soothed my soul to know we had helped other people.
