I love that scene. It shows that Lexie has several layers, and steps up for herself when people try to size her up. I understand Meredith’s aversion towards Lexie, but the asshole here is her dad. Not Lex.

Idk why people are crapping on Lexie she’s one of the characters in the show they helped mer mellow out and become more accepting if there was no Lexie I don’t think there would be an Amelia or Maggie. Lexie did not know Meredith even existed for years. When her other sister showed up to the hospital pregnant the mom told Meredith none of the daughters know about her existence. When she found out she wanted to find out about her sister I think that’s normal to be curious about family you never even knew you had for 20 plus years. Meredith blames them because they had relatively good lives and her childhood sucked but she can’t blame all of that on Lexie her mom cheated and took her away and of course her dad sucked for not reaching out but that has nothing to do with Lexie. Meredith put her though the ringer and was being all hot and cold with her. After someone says they want nothing to do with you what right do they have to judge you about your own dad who they know nothing about? She sounded down right condescending. This was one of the few times in the show Lexie even confronted her all the other times she just walked about when Meredith told her she hated her. I just really do not get what all the hate is for. Lexie was a good addition to the cast during those few seasons.

I eventually loved how Meredith and Lexi’s relationship developed into a sisterly bond but I will forever maintain that Lexi had no right to try to force Meredith into being her sister. All Meredith wanted was for Lexi to leave her alone. She didn’t mind teaching her because it was her job but that was never enough for Lexi. She continued to push against Meredith’s clearly established boundaries and everyone acted as if Meredith was in the wrong for being annoyed with Lexi’s persistence. Meredith didn’t owe Lexi anything especially living up to her fantasy of what her big sister would be like. That right there shows you how ridiculous Lexi was. Here’s this woman who your father abandoned, and yes Ellis left and took Meredith but thatcher could have fought. Ellis was a suicidal workaholic that gave her second child up for adoption. I’m sure he could have gotten at minimum shared custody. This woman your father abandoned who had a mother that also didn’t know how to love her and you think she’s supposed to welcome the idea of the little sister that her father cared enough to actually be there for. If Lexi didn’t push Meredith to be more than her teacher Meredith wouldn’t have gone out of her way to hurt Lexi.

Meredith was so clearly out of line. People call Lexie a hypocrite, that she's pushy and unrelenting, and that's true. But in this instance, at the start of their relationship, Meredith was completely at fault.
Thatcher abandoned her and her mother for Lexie and Susan, and that's okay for her to be bitter about, to be angry. But the person she should be angry at is Thatcher, not Lexie. She of all people understands deeply what it feels like to have problems with your parents. Ellis always blamed Meredith for derailing her career, for Richard leaving her -- she should at least have some empathy for Lexie now that Thatcher is an abusive alcoholic.
Meredith also understands what it feels like to be a caretaker. She was frustrated and angry with having to deal with her mother's affairs, but she has no sense of sympathy for Lexie having to deal with the same burden she had to. She was lucky to have the guidance and comfort of her friends and of Richard, whereas Lexie practically has no one due to Thatcher's incapacitation. Molly has moved away and her mother is dead, and she has her intern friends, but it's clear she doesn't want to disclose such an issue to them.
Meredith was being so obnoxious blaming Lexie for Thatcher's behaviour. No one ever told her that Ellis was "charming" when she had Alzheimer’s. Ellis didn't choose to be sick, and Thatcher didn't choose to lose Susan either, but he chose to drink, knowing he treated Lexie like crap when he was drunk. Meredith saying that Thatcher was a charming drunk to Lexie is so deeply disturbing and just plain mean. And it's so ridiculous how the writers made sure Meredith got comforted by Richard after this confrontation, because she needed it to see how awful she was behaving by saying this to Lexie.

I don’t feel bad for her, i never liked Lexi, she shows up and forces herself on Meredith, not for one second thinking how tough it be for her to constantly be reminded of her dad abandoning her, leaving her to basically raise herself.

Lexie didn’t even know about meredith so she didn’t know it was gonna be hard for meredith, plus Lexie’s mom died, it isn’t wrong for someone to try to get to know their sibling, meredith is the rude one

moonbabe that’s not true, Lexie is the one who walked up to Meredith and say hi I’m your sister. Meredith is the one who didn’t know about Lexi. Once she introduces herself Meredith makes it clear she didn’t wanna know her and yet Lexi continues to push herself into her life. Yea it’s not wrong for her to want to know her sibling but she went about it the wrong way.

I think maggie was the one who wanted meredith to accept her at once.. Lexie waited for meredith to accept her as a sister..

Dacatzmeow _ yes but I’m saying she didn’t know what kind of person meredith was, she didn’t know meredith would be closed off to meeting lexie, and lexie just wanted closure after her moms death, and if she didn’t ever push, meredith and her wouldn’t have been close, now meredith loves lexie even if she’s dead

But it was actually Meredith’s fault for sticking her nose in other people’s business but when they try and reach out to her, she says it’s none of her business. Mer is a bitch sometimes and you can’t just blame it all on the trauma. People seem to forget that Ellis cheated on Thatcher and TOOK Meredith across the country and just left. So it’s not Thatcher’s fault either before you start defending her by saying how “Lexie reminded her of the childhood she never had.” Just don’t be a bitch. It’s not that hard.

Puppy Lover say this again for the ones in the back. like we know Thatcher wasn’t a good father, but Ellis wasn’t a good wife or mother.
