About the Kuroo part of him not inviting him to play soccer is because he knew Kenma wasn't interested in physical activities and he wouldn't like to go out to play soccer and he assured his dad that even tho Kenma is an introvert that doesn't go out as much, he still have things he DOES enjoy and he dedicates himself to those things so his dad shouldn't worry about him being "apathetic" towards life. It's a sign of respect. Kuroo respects the fact that Kenma needs his down time, and he'll invite him to things he things he'll like, and if he says he doesn't want to, then he won't pressure him. Kenma showed interest in Volleyball, so he took him there. And even the first time they went, he didn't force him to participate. He just watched.
This. Also, later in the flashback when Kenma calls Kuroo a liar, it's when Kuroo says "You'd be a good setter! They are the brains and you wouldn't have to move very much!" At the time Kenma realized later that the "not having to move very much as a setter" was a complete lie.
Yeah Kuroo was being honest when he said Kenma didn't want to play soccer. It was the "not having to run as much" as the setter that Kenma called him a liar for which was pretty lol
the final point in this movie being animated entirely from kenmas perspective absolutely blew me away seeing it in a theater. you really felt the anxiety and especially the weight when lev slams into him i also loved how a little bit before that, a lot of the audio gets drowned out by kenma's panting, indicating that hes getting so exhausted he cant even think straight
Although quite different in gravity, this sequence reminded me very much of the initial D-Day landing in "Private Ryan," especially in terms of disorientation, limited knowledge, and sound design.
Hi coach donny! I was the employee you kept bumping into at VNL, and I just wanted to say thank you so much for the picture with me! Been watching all of your videos since 2019/2018 and it was awesome to finally meet the legend; really hope you enjoyed texas
My favorite moment of the movie is when the match ended and players from both teams hugged each other. That’s so beautiful, after all they are all good friends who have the common passion.
Honestly, length of the movie aside, I can't possibly word just how amazing and ALIVE the whole thing felt Like, we have never seen Haikyuu match the pace of a real match to this extent it's just amazing and I plan on rewatching the whole thing Before they release the 2nd movie, I'm praying they make a Blu-Ray special with 20-30 minutes of added content making up for the things we missed in the movie
In Japan, they have theatres show sessions called "Voice OK' which means you are allowed to cheer, scream, shout out, laugh out loud and even bring light sticks etc while watching the movie. I went to that in Japan and had such a great time watching the movie.
I would have loved to live that experience. I could only go to a cinema that's quite far from where I live, and it was pretty empty. I keep looking to see if they'll show the movie in cinema's closer to where I live but it's not looking that way. I would so love to go watch it again... 😭😭😭
@@typekkleks4013 tbh we puertoricans are loud lol but I wish you could have experienced it because we were all Haikyuu fans and to be able to scream and hug people who loves the same show as you is amazing🥹
I had the same experience here on México, a lot of people went with Karasuno and Nekoma jerseys, and even tho I went by myself everyone was so welcoming and ended up crying with some girls that sat next to me. ❤🎉
I would recommend reading the manga for this match now that you have watched it, there is a lot more plays and reflections of the characters about what they're thinking while playing
In the subtitles I saw, coach Ukai told Kageyama to "be courageous", which I interpreted as him having the courage to trust the spikers with difficult situations, and take risks (like he did with Hinata).
As a haikyuu fan who also watched a bunch of your haikyuu reaction videos I’m happy you enjoyed the movie! I also hope they make more movies, I’d be so fun to see all the adult characters animated :( But it’s great to see people enjoying the movies and talking about it online. I’d love to see your second reaction when the movie comes out on crunchyroll🎊
I'm excited for round 2 as well on Crunchyroll! Don't forget to check out my 2nd channel that is dedicated to anime reaction videos www.youtube.com/@ElevateYourPowerLevel9000
I'm so happy that you reacted to the movie! I was waiting for this 🙏 Loved hearing your thoughts, been a fan of your reactions for years now, it's so good to see you doing this again with Haikyuu! The tension throughout the entire match has you at the edge of your seat!! Once it was over I cried, I feel like I've grown up watching Haikyuu, so it's very exciting to see how we're nearing the end. I have never played volleyball outside of high school a few times, but Haikyuu has made me want to try it for around 3 years now! It's a shame I never was brave enough to do it, I hope it's not too late if I ever find myself capable of learning a new sport! I'm not athletic at all so I know it would take me a lot of effort lmao. Sorry for rambling! Loved your reaction, hope to see more of you soon! Your reactions really have changed the way I see Haikyuu and helped me understand more about not only the sport, but also animation! ^^
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I’m not surprised you cried. Kenma’s arc was so touching, and Shibata’s triumphant moment of determination was beautiful. It’s never too late to try volleyball! You should do it!
@@ElevateYourselfOfficial You’re absolutely correct! Kenma has always been my favorite character and the movie intensified my love for him! All the characters had their special moments, it was an awesome movie!! Thank you so much for the motivation ^^!!
Hey! Love your reaction. I was on the same page of not expecting to be as involved and enjoying of Kenmas backstory. One thing I noticed is that you mentioned that Kuroo didn't invite Kenma to play soccer, etc. He didn't lie, or not include him out of spite/skills, but rather he didn't want to invite Kenma to something that Kenma himself didn't want to go to. He knows that Kenma would not enjoy the experience, and knew that if he wanted to go, he would absolutely invite him.
loved watching your vlog. Super glad you got to see it in theaters and we got to see some of your reactions to some big moments! I ended up seeing this in theaters twice because I was so excited after the first viewing. There a few interpretations of your I disagree with/have a different take on. 1. Kuroo and the soccer scene. I didn’t see it as Kuroo lying. But him saying to Kenma’s dad: “I won’t invite Kenma to play soccer because I don’t think he’d have fun.” The subtext implied by that is Kuroo thinks “I am going to keep inviting Kenna to play volleyball because I think he does have fun playing volleyball”. 1a. Also I think Kenma calling Kuroo a lier was mostly adult Kenma commenting on how young Kuroo said, “You should be a setter, then you won’t have to move that much”. Which adult Kenma feels is/was a lie. Which Kenma is arguably right to think. 2. as for Kenma getting upset when he was stopping Hinata from getting spikes. I do think a part of him being upset was that he didn’t like doing it to his friend. But I think a bigger part of it was that in Kenma’s eyes, he had won at the point. He “solved” the enigma that was Hinata. In a scene around then we get a flashback of Kenma saying, “I don’t like beating a game more than I don’t like dying a bunch” (I’m going to quote from memory so it’ll be slightly off). This implies to me that Kenma likes a challenge. Kenma is fascinated by Hinata because he always seems to evolve and overcome a challenge, making Hinata the ultimate challenge. And so in the match, when Kenma’s plan is working, Hinata isn’t evolving, and so Kenma ‘beat the game’, to him all the challenge is gone. It’s after Kageyama does the super high set and Hinata “evolves” and does the boom jump, that Kenma suddenly is invested and interested again. But interpretations of those moments aside, super glad you enjoyed the movies. Your reaction series was a major contributing reason for me playing volleyball now for the last year and a half, so cheers!
@@ElevateYourselfOfficial About the Kuro scene, remember Kenma doesn't like to move too much, he rather stay still, play and move when he needs to. That's why Kuro told him he should be a setter, he likes to think rationally and not moving too much. That's how Nekoma works too, Kenma's the brain, the body has to move and flow as the brain thinks how to move and what to do. So, Kuro, knowing that, knows that Kenma wouldn't enjoy soccer as he should be running and moving way too much, making him tired and not enjoying the game.
I love haikyuu so much. I think its one of my all time favorite animes. I'm not a sporty person, never have been. I enjoyed hanging out with my friends but was never into the sport we were playing (wether that was tennis, basketball, or rugby). I super unhealthy as I've kinda been housebound by anxiety. My friend convinced me to watch this anime about volleyball and I was hesitant at first cause I knew nothing about the sport, or sports in general but then you watch it and a lot of the time its less about the sport and more about the love of the sport if that makes sense. Its more about a passion for something and holding onto that feeling for as long as possible. The ups and downs of the show and the characters developing new ways of dealing with their downfalls is so inspireing. So much so that despite literally only being out once in like 3 years (not even stepping a foot out the door) I had to watch the show in the cinema when my friend asked. Not only that but I decided I want to re-join a volleyball club (I had been in one when we first watched the anime but I stopped going due to anxiety). Had the first session a few days ago and can't wait to go again. I want to get better with each session. When we were at school we only had a female volleyball club (there was a mixed one but you'd get bullied really bad for playing, plus I was put in the all-boys class so we never actually played it unless it was a time when we didn't have enough pe-teachers so we had to play with the mixed group). Which is such a shame cause I really love the sport. I loved basket ball for the team-play and the feeling of shooting a basket but I hated the contact nature of the sport (especially being bullied you tend to get marked a whole lot more which was just an excuse to bump into you and push you) and I really liked tennis having to smash the ball ever the net so it only seemed natural that volleyball was a great fit for me. TL:DR: Haikuu is a great anime for fans of volleyball but its also for people who are a fan of character progression. It's an ispirational show about overcoming overwhelming odds and dealing with losses and how to turn losses into a strength.
wow thanks for sharing your story! It's never too late to pick up volleyball and have life changing experiences. Don't forget to check out my 2nd channel that is dedicated to anime reaction videos www.youtube.com/@ElevateYourPowerLevel9000
Hey Coach Donny! The Dumpster Battle is just released over an hour ago (5:00pm PT) in CRUNCHYROLL in these regions----North America, Central America, South America, Europe (excluding France), Africa (excluding Southern Africa), Oceania, the Middle East and CIS----so might as well check it out once again and looking forward to your film reaction video! ^__^
The way they chose to adapt this arc is through Kenma's POV, and for that decision, they've delivered quite well. However the downside is that we don't see the perspective from anyone else. 12:20 Yes in the manga it's confirmed that Hinata 1st tried to tip it down, but saw Kenma moving forward. So Hinata changed the tip last second to target the back court. It's a move he learned in the Tsukibahara match, the 1st match Karasuno had in Nationals. Hinata grew a lot in Garbage Dump but we hear none of his inner thoughts and decisions, especially when Kenma was trying to cage him in. Hinata tried to escape multiple times all with his own thinking, not Kageyama's or the coach's, thus showing his evolved game IQ. He also failed the 1st Boom Jump; they couldn't match up perfectly the 1st time Kageyama gave him an open toss, and both Hinata & Kageyama had to adjust to the new play. It threw Kenma off for awhile because he was starting to overthink "What's Kageyama thinking? Hinata CAN'T jump that high, right? Even if he does, he's going to be on even height with our 3 tall blockers, so what's the point?" But when Hinata does succeed the Boom Jump, even if it seemed like he's gonna get caught by the 3 blockers, Hinata could target their fingertips or open spaces between them, or ricochet off them, etc; thus using the blockers heights to his advantage. My favorite part is Kenma exclaiming "That's a demon and demon right there!" in contrast to how Coach Nekomata explained the freak duo in S1 [paraphrased]: "Kageyama is the demon, Hinata is just the demon's club. And we can take away the club." A lot of other players had their growth/time to shine in this match too like Asahi, Yamaguchi, Tora, Fukunaga, Nishinoya, Yaku. I saw their moments animated, but anime-only fans didn't understand why those few seconds were significant because they went by so fast, and we don't hear why those moments were important to the players. :( I hope anime-only fans do try to read the manga, because you have missed SO MUCH substantial chunk.
THISSS, I really loved Kenma's POV but I won't lie, the whole time I was actually waiting for Hinata's POV as well. I badly wanted to see his thought process on how he broke free from the strategies thrown by Kenma to stop him. That was my biggest disappointment on this movie... I missed Hinata so much too🤧
@@ace_4311 It also removes any impression of hard-earned growth for Hinata. Although he did run into obstacles and overcame them, it felt fleeting (?, at least for me) because we don't hear his thoughts and how he wanted to overcome them. Then the ultimate solution, the boom jump, was initiated by Kageyama. If anime-only fans saw it, maybe they have the impression that Kageyama is once again the main force behind the duo; missing out how much strategizing Hinata did on his own throughout this game.
I love what you said there at the end. Yes, whatever level you're in, just keep pushing and you will find your moment. Go at your own pace as long as you keep improving. Heck you can be at your 30s and still peaking. Thank you for the wisdom always mate! I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. Can't wait for the full reaction. 😁
I’m from the Philippines and I went to watch this on theaters and WE WERE SCREAMING! THE WHOLE THEATER WAS SO LOUD. IT FELT LIKE A REAL VOLLEYBALL MATCH!
Apart from everything you said coach, which I agree 100%, I'd like to point out that this movie showed something that maybe many people has missed because of all the story with Kenma, Kuroo and Hinata, which was incredibly exciting. I'd like to single out one detail of the movie that is incredibly important for us and it is the moment that sealed the friendship between Hinata and Kageyama. Throughout the anime we've always heard Hinata telling Kageyama over and over again that whenever, wherever and however fast he sets the ball he will be there to hit it, he will be there for Kageyama, a boy who is traumatised by lonelines and by the last year at his middle school (the whole King of the court arc). In Kenma's mind, given what he has witnessed (not us, Kenma, this is important) he thinks that Kageyama will ignore Hinata if he thinks he's not key to win the match (something that he said in the first season) and also according to Kenma, Hinata and Kageyama as people (not as players) are always fighting. So when he metaphorically puts Hinata in a cage, he is convince that Kageyama will ignore Hinata. What happens and I think this is key to win the match, is that Kageyama sets a ball high enough, long enough, and slow enough, to give Hinata time and space to stand up, free himself, run and fly like a crow and hit the ball. Actually, my reading of this scene is that Kageyama is proving everyone that he will be there for Hinata too, he trusts him with his life (his life is volleyball) and two people who come from lonely places will never be alone. They are friends for ever. Sorry for the rant coach, I've enjoyed your reactions to Haikyuu over the years and learnt from them too. Thank you so so much.
Really appreciate your thoughts at the end. I started volleyball in sophomore year of highschool and was obsessed for the next 3 years playing on the school team. I played basically everyday even when there was no practice I’d play beach with the local teams. However due to Covid, I never got to play in the full tournament that our varsity team was supposed to have. Many of our local groups also stopped meeting then. I didnt have access to good volleyball for a while and kinda lost touch. Your comments at the end really resonated with me and I would love to get back to that place. Great stuff as always Coach Donny!
my favorite part about the manga(haven't seen the movie yet) where Kuro looked to Tsuki and asked him "So... how's Volleyball been for ya lately?" I'm hoping it hits as hard. Kuro and Hinata both had a goal this match and its to get the member on the other side to admit volleyball is fun
kuro knew kenma wouldnt enjoy soccer because kenma wanted to stay indoors to play videogames. kuro felt like he wasnt in the position to force kenma to play a sport he doesnt want to as he was already convincing kenma to play volleyball. so i thought it was thoughtful of kuro of not putting kenma's fathers wishes onto kenma
Glad to see this video, can't wait for the full time reaction! You'd Definitely want to read the manga for this - even if it's not for a reaction but just on your own time, I strongly recommend it. The anime team did a wonderful job with the limits that they had, but a bunch of stuff couldn't make it into the movie, including but not limited to the origins of Hinata's long tip (a slight "spoiler" from the past: that's something Hinata got an idea for a couple games earlier at Nationals), and I feel like you'd enjoy delving into the volleyball stuff deeper, which the manga thankfully does. Regarding Ukai's words to Kageyama - "confident" is, imo, definitely not quite the correct word to use there. Ukai told Kageyama to be brave, and while it's not mentioned in the movie, in the manga we at least have Suga thinking about how brave it is for Kageyama to let go of his previous obsession with speed and, essentially, trust Hinata to handle it, so you still got a good read of the situation. Kageyama used to try to handle everything on his own, and so trusting others in that case does take courage.
Hi, Coach! Loved the reaction! About Hinata's long tip faking Kenma out was actually taken from Karasuno's first match in Nationals, with Tsubakihara. The plays and strategies were explained better in the manga, but the runtime for the movie unfortunately wasn't enough for that. But still happy overall with the movie.
I just watched the movie in theaters today, and one thing that stood out to me that I haven't seen anyone else mention is how the art style changes as the match progresses - as the players got more exhausted, their anatomy (particularly in the face/jawline, arm/leg proportions) got... "sloppier" isn't quite the right word... more exaggerated? It was a neat visual detail :D
Holyyyyy I just saw it yesterday and while it did feel very short and quick-paced since it was a movie, the animation quality, the sounds of the ball being hit in the theater, and Kenma's perspective was AMAZING. I hope that they see the success and are able to have the next movie be at least 2 hours!!!
Glad you saw it in theaters and have been sticking with Haiykuu all this time! I still remember when I wasn't sure if you'd even go past episode 1 all the way back in the beginning :)
I love what you said in the end. I'm 36, I've been playing Volleyball for nearly 20 years. I can no longer compete in a collegial level, but I still play competitively locally and recreationally. If you have that passion, you will definitely still experience those moments these teams get, and boy, when you get those moments, it still feels just as great as it did for me 10 years ago. As for the movie, I know some were not all that satisfied with it. But I think to fully enjoy the movie, you have to set a certain expectation for this one. Don't expect a big narrative. I already kind of knew this, so I came in feeling like I paid a ticket to watch an actual volleyball match with some backstory. And boy did that make this a ton of fun to watch.
lol even though I'm just listening to these few clips I still got so hyped up 😂 I watched this in the fan screening here in Philippines and watched it again in Netflix recently and I'm telling you I bawled my eyes out both times. I think I'll be watching it again soon (after exams lol). good to see your reactions again coach! 😁
I was kinda sad that they did not include the whole history between coach nekomata and coach ukai. would've been fun to see them play a little just like in the manga.
Glad you came back! if you want to watch more Anime Reaction videos, I actually have a whole new channel dedicated reacting to anime www.youtube.com/@ElevateYourPowerLevel9000
Even though they left out chunks from the manga the movie was great could have been amazing but it was only 90 mins, for a 33 chapter long match. And while the story lacked in some parts because we didn’t get as much dialogue, the animation, the sound and music were about amazing !
Glad to see you enjoyed the movie, Coach!! I went with my boyfriend the first time, and alone the second time (already planning to see it twice more with friends), and I cried both times I did watch it 😂 Nekoma is my favourite Haikyuu team, and Kuroo and Kenma my favourite childhood friends pair out of the others we have in Haikyuu, so I was beyond happy to see their backstory so lovingly played out for us on the screen. I could have watched another hour and a half of this movie just to see more of the KaraNeko interactions from the manga that unfortunately didn't make the cut into the movie. In my opinion Nekoma really are Karasuno's closest and truest friends, and their favourite rivals. I'm so happy the movie let us see that bond of mutual respect and competition between them.
my comment got shown! glad you enjoyed the movie. I was just as hype watching it in theaters, and good to see i'm not the only one trying to hold in cheers. I don't think kuro was lying to kenma during that part. i just think that he doesnt want to necessarily force him to play a sport just because his dad thinks he needs more exercise. but volleyball is Kuro's passion and he just wanted to share that with his best friend, at first just asking kenma to help him practice then recognizing that kenma is a thinker and that setter would probably be something he liked. although Kuro did lie that setters dont move that much, but i think thats just his young naivety comparing it to spiking. I think Kenma took that interaction as Kuro really knowing him and sticking up for him, which is why theyre so close even though you'd think theyre not really compatable personalities
You misunderstand that scene. Kenma's father wants Kuroo to bring Kenma along to play other sports like soccer but Kuroo understands Kenma does not like tiring himself. Kuroo will gladly have Kenma join him in anything if Kenma wants to and will not force Kenma to do what he does not want to. Kuroo was telling Kenma's father that when Kenma wants and chooses to do something, he will gladly invite him as he knows Kenma would 100% be devoted and put his all into it.
I was so excited to see this movie on opening night I actually drove to the wrong theatre! It’s a good thing I left early and the venues were relatively close so I wasn’t late but boy that was almost bad haha
I loved getting to see your initial reactions to the movie, and I’d love to see you react to Karasuno vs Nekoma in the manga because the movie cut out some great scenes. After I got into Haikyuu, I almost took a season off of running to try playing volleyball, but I ultimately didn’t because I felt like it would be more in line with the themes of the story to go all in on becoming the best runner I could be. I still play volleyball recreationally whenever I can, but I’m now gearing up to race my first marathon. After watching Chihayafuru (an anime that I really hope you react to someday), I got way more hooked on competitive karuta. During my first tournament, I had a moment like Tsuki or Hinata when I became that much more hooked, and I’ll soon be going to Japan to play a lot more of it. Time to spend some time practicing karuta and then go for a run.
Coach, I hope you save your full reaction to the theater. Please consider putting the digital copy and sync it from your reaction. Wanna hear your commentary while watching it, like in the anime reactions. ahhhh
What you said at 11:00, my first exposure of Haikyuu was actually watching this movie in the theater by myself. I was bored on the weekend (Saturday, June 1st 2024) and my friends all had something else to do, so i looked up at what movies were playing at the time and spotted Haikyuu. I knew about Haikyuu since the anime first came out because all of my friends were talking about it, but i was not interested in it (i'm just not interested in sports animes because i think they're a bit unrealistic/over the top), even though i'm a big fan of football (the REAL football) and baseball. So yeah, i watched it and after that i took a huge liking to Haikyuu & volleyball in general. And i guess it also helps big time that my favorite JPOP idol happens to be a volleyball player during her high school days and she's also a huge Haikyuu fangirl. I didn't know the characters or their stories when i watched Dumpster Battle but i still enjoyed it so much nevertheless because i'm just a huge team sports nerd. When i got home i immediately started watching the series on Netflix, and whenever i needed to know more about certain volleyball terms & techniques i always go to your channel to watch your tutorials because your way of explaining & showing how volleyball is played properly is just so satisfying.
Tbh it didn't really hit me because of all the hype I get from the movie until I went home and rewatched S1E12-13 again 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲 I'll go watch the movie again tomorrow! Love your reaction as always Coach! Glad to have you in our community!!
I was surprised I had some people in my theater for the matinee here in Michigan. Subs over dubs 4 lyfe, of course. My favorite scene was the long rally shown from Kenma's POV. Was so dynamic. Will be waiting to watch the whole thing with you again. Sometimes I still go back and watch your OG Haikyuu playlist.
Being that you have the whole footage of you reacting to the movie, would you please sync that with the movie visuals whenever the movie comes available for digital? would be awesome to see your first time reaction to it
Oh man couldn't agree more! So glad that the fans convinced me to watch it in theaters first and then on streaming later. By the way, if you want to watch more of my anime reaction videos, I started a 2nd channel dedicated to anime reactions! www.youtube.com/@ElevateYourPowerLevel9000
Thank you for your movie reaction! Coincidently I’ve just watched the movie today although it’s my 10th viewing in Tokyo😆 It was sorry that theatre had no big crowd. I sincerely hope Season 5 creation due to a megahit of the movie.
Hey Donny would ever consider reacting to Hajime no Ippo? its a boxing anime it covers the sport the physical and mental side of it, its really funny aswell and has older animation which i think would be interesting to talk about. i know its boxing and not Volleyball but i see you as a Coach in a wide amount of genres.
Unfortunately, due to the low runtime of the movie they had to cut out a lot of great moments from the manga. I'd greatly recommend checking out that part of the manga, just because you do unfortunately miss a lot of exposition and plays that really underline this match being a kind of full circle moment for both teams.
it wasn't guilt that bothered kenma when he started trapping hinata and tore off his wings, it was the "beating" the game that he hated which he said was his least favorite part about video games. he wanted hinata to keep evolving and becoming a bigger challenge for him to overcome so he never stops getting bored with hinata. thats why he told hinata to never change when hinata brought out the super jump and overcame kenma's trap.
In the cinema where I work (in quebec) I got the chance to actually build the Deadpool & Wolverine stand... A lot of fun, but oh boy did it hurt to do some of the final pieces of the frame Also good god I don't like that I knew all the trailers from the music
Lol I was down in Arlington as well watching the vnl and my buddy and I watched the haikyuu movie at the same exact theater! And also overpaid for the move theater food 😂
Ive been to the movie in a cinema as well! I loved it! ALso, a question, is 18 too late to start playing volleyball and become a professional? Ive played 3 years on PE in school but nothing serious, do you think if i put in a LOT of work (like 3hrs daily) and train like crazy, i have a chance of going pro? and play in like 3rd league or smth? (in september im joining a recreational practise 2x a week as well)
Props to the staff at Production IG for how well they adapted this match. I would've preferred a whole cour of episodes to properly adapt the match. However, it hit the major beats even if it sacrificed some great moments and backstory elements. Overall an 8.5 to 9/10 for me. Hope the next film isn't the last cuz we still got way too much left to see the story through to the end.
Kenma wasn't feeling bad because he was beating Hinata and tearing his wings off. Kenma was sad that after locking him down, Hinata wasn't interesting anymore, like when they dd the flashback of him saying he felt worse when he beat a game then when he loses at it. That's why he came alive when Kageyama and Hinata figured out how to overcome his strategy.
Hello Coach Donny. Always love your reactions about haikyuu especially the movie!! By the way, I want to ask one thing. Which channel account did you post the raw reactions of haikyuu movie? On this elevate yourself or the second acc special for anime reactions? Sorry, I don't really understand because English is not my language. Thank you and stay healthy!!
the movie is amazing but maaan imagine a season of the rest of the tournament. when i watched it at the moment i was happy but after the movie even though i dont mind them not going 1for1 with the manga they left out a lot of things.
Do you have any advice for someone who wants to play team sports for the first time at age 24? I feel like I wasted so much time feeling depressed and not good enough, and now I’m worried I’m too late. To be any good and have fun with others. I just got home from watching the movie, it was really good and definitely made me cry a little bit
How are you enjoying the Volleyball rally animations this time? I've noticed we got a lot more seamless full court view of whole rallies instead of play-by-play (digging, camera switch to setting, to hitting, etc). I think they're fantastic! I still occasionally watch your tall ones games, but somehow I didn't notice you having a second more anime-oriented channel, I thought you stopped watching Kuroko after 2 episodes lol. I'll check out the Kuroko vids later but nice to see you again in anime form! P.s. you shared about loving Marvel movies, who are your fav characters?
Me too! Can't wait to rewatch this on streaming. By the way, if you want to watch more of my anime reaction videos, I started a 2nd channel dedicated to anime reactions! www.youtube.com/@ElevateYourPowerLevel9000
My theater was pretty full but the crowd didn’t seem to as hyped as I was. That’s kinda sucked bc it always like watching a real game to me. But No! Kuroo is perfect😢 He explained to his dad that Kenma wouldn’t like soccer just he likes other things even volleyball. He excepts him as he is and don’t want force him to do stuff he knows he’ll hate.

It was the "not having to run as much" as the setter that Kenma called him a liar for which was pretty lol
the final point in this movie being animated entirely from kenmas perspective absolutely blew me away seeing it in a theater. you really felt the anxiety and especially the weight when lev slams into him
i also loved how a little bit before that, a lot of the audio gets drowned out by kenma's panting, indicating that hes getting so exhausted he cant even think straight
Although quite different in gravity, this sequence reminded me very much of the initial D-Day landing in "Private Ryan," especially in terms of disorientation, limited knowledge, and sound design.
I cried in theaters when that part played!!! I still emotional when I rewatch it too loll
Hi coach donny! I was the employee you kept bumping into at VNL, and I just wanted to say thank you so much for the picture with me! Been watching all of your videos since 2019/2018 and it was awesome to finally meet the legend; really hope you enjoyed texas
Thanks for saying hi! Great to meet you. And following me since 2018
@@ElevateYourselfOfficial 🤩🤩
Just very happy to read all this :)
My favorite moment of the movie is when the match ended and players from both teams hugged each other. That’s so beautiful, after all they are all good friends who have the common passion.
Honestly, length of the movie aside, I can't possibly word just how amazing and ALIVE the whole thing felt
Like, we have never seen Haikyuu match the pace of a real match to this extent it's just amazing and I plan on rewatching the whole thing
Before they release the 2nd movie, I'm praying they make a Blu-Ray special with 20-30 minutes of added content making up for the things we missed in the movie
Yess it absolutely felt like a real match, even more exciting than the real match too!
In Japan, they have theatres show sessions called "Voice OK' which means you are allowed to cheer, scream, shout out, laugh out loud and even bring light sticks etc while watching the movie. I went to that in Japan and had such a great time watching the movie.
I watch the movie in a full theater in Puerto Rico, we all scream, clapped and cried together it was an amazing experience🤣🧡
I would have loved to live that experience. I could only go to a cinema that's quite far from where I live, and it was pretty empty. I keep looking to see if they'll show the movie in cinema's closer to where I live but it's not looking that way. I would so love to go watch it again... 😭😭😭
damn, mine was half full and everyone was dead quiet all movie, maybe everyone was just soo focused haha
Full theater in the Philippines too! We all screamed, cursed and cheered together 😅
In the manga they did confirm that was Hinata's intention and vision
We watched it here in the Philippines and most of the moviegoers (including me) are wearing Haikyuu Merch and cosplay. It's soo fun!
Thanks for sharing your analysis! I'm looking forward to rewatching it on Crunchyroll and re-thinking some of those moments that you mentioned
@@laiofurious6433 yup
@@ElevateYourselfOfficial Can't wait for the rewatch for this on Crunchyroll. I'm sure you're gonna enjoy it all over again
Bruh ppl are discussing kenma n kuroo scene like it's gonna come in exam tomorrow 😂

Thanks for this video coach Donny ! It was a pleasure meeting you in Arlington and doing a quick video blog at the VNL
thanks for saying hi!
And we can take away the club."
A lot of other players had their growth/time to shine in this match too like Asahi, Yamaguchi, Tora, Fukunaga, Nishinoya, Yaku.
Absolutely!
Great stuff as always Coach Donny!
my favorite part about the manga(haven't seen the movie yet) where Kuro looked to Tsuki and asked him "So... how's Volleyball been for ya lately?"
I'm hoping it hits as hard.
Damn in the theatre? True anime fan fr
Bruh it's money likes n views🤷
@ indeed
This is sooo wholesome
I just watched the movie in theaters today, and one thing that stood out to me that I haven't seen anyone else mention is how the art style changes as the match progresses - as the players got more exhausted, their anatomy (particularly in the face/jawline, arm/leg proportions) got... "sloppier" isn't quite the right word... more exaggerated? It was a neat visual detail :D
Holyyyyy
I just saw it yesterday and while it did feel very short and quick-paced since it was a movie, the animation quality, the sounds of the ball being hit in the theater, and Kenma's perspective was AMAZING.
The movie was so amazing and dynamic. That last scene with the POV was amazing.
謝謝!
Thank you for the generosity!
lol even though I'm just listening to these few clips I still got so hyped up 😂 I watched this in the fan screening here in Philippines and watched it again in Netflix recently and I'm telling you I bawled my eyes out both times. I think I'll be watching it again soon (after exams lol). good to see your reactions again coach! 😁
I missed you as much as I miss Haikyuu, coach! Can't wait for your reaction when it's released digitally. 💕💕💕
The pov shots near the end went crazy
Apparently the next movie is actually going to be two parts. So at least another two. I wish it would be a whole anime season. But better than nothing
I was kinda sad that they did not include the whole history between coach nekomata and coach ukai. would've been fun to see them play a little just like in the manga.
It's been so loong, i'm glad youtube recommended your vid immediately! I saw it last month was waiting for youuu

Just subscribed! Your haikyuu reactions were always so insightful so im sure these ones would be as well
Even though they left out chunks from the manga the movie was great could have been amazing but it was only 90 mins, for a 33 chapter long match.
When kageyama served the first point ace it set the tone for the rest of the movie. Just INTENSE!❤❤❤
me: *smiling and feeling excited while watching coach's vlog* been waiting for thiiiiiis 💛💛💛
I can’t wait to watch this 😭 I just hope it’s still in theatres when I get back home
Hurry!
This was awesome coach!!
Glad to have you in our community!!
please rewatch this when it comes out on crunchy roll, we wanna see you react to it!
Hopefully when it comes out on streaming sites when can still get your reactions with you in the theater full length
What a great video, a great vlog!
Love Totoro! My volleyball kids showed me Haikyuu. They all want to be like the players😁
COACH IS BACKKKK
I watched it in the same theater, that’s my local mall!
I also wish that they showed Hinata's and Kageyama's thought while playing Nekoma. I hope they will air the extended version of it
Damn ariety in theater gonna be fire
Being that you have the whole footage of you reacting to the movie, would you please sync that with the movie visuals whenever the movie comes available for digital? would be awesome to see your first time reaction to it
I watched it in a Dolby Theater. SO WORTHY!

Coincidently I’ve just watched the movie today although it’s my 10th viewing in Tokyo😆
It was sorry that theatre had no big crowd. I sincerely hope Season 5 creation due to a megahit of the movie.
Wow I grew up going to that Arlington mall, so surreal!
how ironic!
I loved the movie, especially the kenma pov
Everyone reacting like coach watching the movie !!!! ❤❤❤
Hope you got to see the end credit scene as well
It'll be great if you and Sarah and Adam get together and talk about Haikyuu!
I would love to see you read to the manga
Were you able to stay for the end credits
coach donny did you have a chance to watch the second end credit?
i loved this movie they cut out a lot from the manga but I still loved it nonetheless
In the cinema where I work (in quebec) I got the chance to actually build the Deadpool & Wolverine stand... A lot of fun, but oh boy did it hurt to do some of the final pieces of the frame
Also good god I don't like that I knew all the trailers from the music
hooe u watched the post credits scene it was firee
Did you wait after the ending credits?? Because there's an extra scene at the end that shows their next challenger
Glad you like my reactions!! It's available for members of my anime reaction channel "elevate your power level"
You also have to read the manga they cut down a few rallys in the movie
Cinema food item prices second to Airport prices really drain the wallet for no reason at all!
the movie is amazing but maaan imagine a season of the rest of the tournament. when i watched it at the moment i was happy but after the movie even though i dont mind them not going 1for1 with the manga they left out a lot of things.
Check out 2nd channel! I’m already on season 3 for Kuroko No Basket. Wolverine and Captain America are my favorites. What about you?
Definitely Thor (especially his Ragnarok + Infinity War version) & Quicksilver (X-Men)
Coach! What will you be doing in Hawaii?? I wanna meet you in person
I love haikyu
Me too! Can't wait to rewatch this on streaming. By the way, if you want to watch more of my anime reaction videos, I started a 2nd channel dedicated to anime reactions! www.youtube.com/@ElevateYourPowerLevel9000
MOM I MADE IT. MY COMMENT GOT CLIPPED INTO THE VLOG
My inly critique is i wish my man Asahi and Daichi got more screen time.
They cut sooooo much from the manga you should read this part even if you wont record it like a good 60 percent
Just saying I saw you in vnl last year
you have the entire theater all to yourself but why weren't you in the middle?
