The lyrical themes are one reason why I love Gojira. Not many other metal bands sing of how great the world is and how it's worth protecting. The positive attitude towards life really wins a lot of points to Gojira in my eyes :)

I have only seen the footage of their live performances and never been there but from what I can see, I must say that Gojira is one of the strongest live bands right now. Few bands have such an effect. One of the other ones would be Inquisition (and this one I have witnessed myself - quite simply unbelievable).
My first Gojira song and let me tell ya... this shit be balls deep heavy, totally digging it. The Way of All Flesh is on queue for a spin right now.
Yes he does! This performance moved me to tears...its what I love about Gojira. The brutality in every song has a strong undercurrent of emotions...pain, anger, madness and, may I say it, hope ("There´s light in this world I fight for").
excellent video mate i saw gojira in uk at birmingham on 26th june and must say they were fucking brilliant, 1st time seen them live, good news they said they were coming back to uk at end of year so will definately see them again
its like coming home again...cannot wait for the whole album

They are perfect live, sometimes better than the studio album, which is rare for a band to be able to do!
it doesnt have to be super difficult riffs or drum beats to make good music, i mean i love it but i think what makes gojira so freaking good is that they really know how to blend each instrument with the other, their lyrics also have a lot to do, idk if you get me but most of their songs are simple but yet so brutal and can be in my head all day long

Tell you what : to me, what makes them unique is that they play a quite violent death metal while being totally atmospheric. By the way, the flying whale on the artwork of the 3rd album is a very clever way to illustrate this : their music is very heavy and yet you fly x) They have very clever lyrics too, unlike 95% of extreme metal bands (only Enslaved and Opeth come to my mind). Maybe you listen to the full show at the Vieilles Charrues Festival, it's outstanding and someone posted it.

Opeth may be my top-favourite band of all time, I am also able to fucking respect and love the work of Gojira and other bands that actually deserves respect. Yes, another Opeth fan. I love their new album, so different and creative. They have always been very melodic "death metal." I hate tags that reduce bands. They can do whatever they want as artists, even add accordion or bagpipes if they want, make glug, glug sounds and distorted AX FX distorted farts if they like.

I don't get why everyone loves this band so much. I mean they're good, but I don't see what makes them special or impressive. This song has, like, 5 notes throughout the entire thing. I really want to like this band, so I need someone to explain to me why they're so good.
