highly highly HIGHLY recommend using your virtual portfolio, especially if you are just starting out. it'll give you a good idea in time whether you paid a good price (virtually) then make a real decision off that.

The only annoying thing is that eToro have declined my account (not verified me), but not explained why - I’m ex-Royal Navy, have no criminal record, and I’m a law abiding citizen, who has never traded before, so I’m extremely annoyed and disappointed with them - they took absolutely ages to reply to me, too. Any suggestions for a way forward would be much appreciated (have others had this issue?)…….
Always good to start copy trading with the virtual portfolio as it's a good simulation, but copiers have to be aware that virtual copy trading has lots of bugs so the performance might be inaccurate too. Anyway, all the best in your portfolio! ;)

I don't understand how anyone would hate on you for being sensible with a paper trading account. It's the same result and you've saved us from waiting months of our lives! Wow those are some amazing returns!! I want to try it for myself and see if it works out. Honestly I was a bit nervous about copytrading but it looks like a cool way to look into different ways people invest!

I’m actually very interested in this but as a provider, not a consumer, it’s something I will look into to see if it’s worthwhile.
First of all, great video! There's nothing wrong with experimenting with virtual accounts before investing real money. If that existed in the 1940s, Ben Graham would have recommended it for sure.
Here's some advice for value investors who are buying their first shares to test if they have the right temperament to be successful in investing - Before investing real money, start with your virtual account and treat it as real. Research each stock thoroughly before investing (go through 10K, 10Q reports, etc), allocate some of it to ETFs like Vanguard Total Stock, Vanguard Total Bond & Vanguard S&P 500.
Check the following with the virtual account :
1. See how long you can abstain from buying. ( Sitting on cash and doing nothing is very hard. Most people burn through 100K in a week. )
2. See how long you can abstain from trading. ( The more you trade, the less you keep.)
3. See how you feel when you see red in your portfolio. Do you buy more or do you sell?
4. See how you feel with stocks going up and down? ( Do you feel obsessed, worried about how your portfolio is doing?)
I recommend monitoring your progress in your virtual account for 6- 12 months before investing real money. If you do well, in your virtual account you're likely to do well with real money.

30% ROI during one of the quickest market bounce backs in recent times is nothing special. If you had shown this before C19 restrictions were getting lifted it would be more impressive. Seeing what it looks like after the upcoming market correction will be interesting.

I'm not doing the self-directed if I can't copy someone I'm not interested. Because I know absolutely nothing about trading . and I'm tired of losing money. I've tried self trading and it does not work. You got to really know what you're doing

I like the video, but I want to bring a perspective not hate. So in my etoro virtual portfolio I am 500% in profit. But in my real portfolio I am only 20% up . With virtual portfolio there is no risk and we can decisions with more ease. All that I did my self not by copying portfolio.
Another update : Recently I invested in copy portfolio and I found out all positions under that portfolio were closed 3 days ago, I am still talking to etoro that what happened and I lost 70% in that copy portfolio in my real account. So it would be more intelligent to see real examples of copy portfolios and by my experience I can really say it is highly highly risky to invest in copy portfolios , better research yourself and invest. May be invest in more stable companies.
And yes as you said I am totally agree practise first with virtual portfolio and once you are confident and know things then only invest money on real life.

Awesome work!!! Investing virtually is a very very very good idea and anyone worth their salt would advise doing this. 12 months made sense to me. I bought my first virtual share when I was 15.

Quick question - If you copy a trader, do you close trade, when you feel comfortable? Or once the person the person you are copying closes, does one's too automatically close?

I have a person who I copy who seems to be doing ok over the past 4 years. I want to invest around 500 a month. Is it ok to copy the same person each month on the same day adding in 500? Or should I always be precautious about the current market etc (im sure the point in copy trading is so I dont need to take much care of the market tbf).

Might need to get over my dislike of the Etoro platform and start copy trading. I know they will do better than I am but I have fun with it 😂. People are just used to UA-camrs with more money than sense investing so don’t worry about the naysayers. Great Video!

Not sure when you recorded this as the past few days have changed things. I’m doing the same with a virtual portfolio interestingly knowing nothing about crypto I copied the copy portfolio and made 6% in 6 days, repurchased it again and it made 11% in 7 days, until Sunday I looked and it was minus -4%... most of the copy traders I have virtually invested in are down as well....if you copy open trades I think it skews the results as well ...interesting concept though
I do think it depends completely on when you get in, initially mine were down but over 3 then 6 months it's really good returns for me. I recorded it on Saturday though :)
The time horizon isn't really long enough to make an informed decision on these portfolios.

Portfolios can be opened with 1000, not 2k or 5k. They are confusing with that requirement but I tried it, and 1k works.
I thought it depends on the portfolio?
@@pandabossanna I first tried 1k in all my virtual portfolios (including ones you mentioned), then opened one of them in real. 1k works.
Hi, how do you feel about holding significant value in an EToro account with the risk of the $ / £ exchange rate working against you? Do you see this being an issue long-term?
Hmm not particularly- I will never hold all of my investments in one platform, so I see my other investment platforms in GDP as the fall back. I’m also not particularly worried about the GDP/US exchange, I’m more worried about the USD in general but if that falls we’ll have bigger problems! Hope that makes sense as it’s difficult to explain :)

Awesome stuff, very informative, but how does it work in terms of fees and taxes; eToro must have their fees, but then do you get taxed on amounts you win/lose etc.?
You don’t win / lose but profits and losses are taxed depending on your own country. Most countries tax investments. In the UK, though, we have tax free allowances :)

Tell you what they disallow too many countries to open an account. It's not a good idea to promote their brokerage and they always banned those good trader to trading those winning product.

The sell button is for CFD trades, not for quitting your position
Hello dear. I copied a trader and copied all open trades and I don't do nothing after that. I am an inexperienced trader and will i be making profits just by doing nothing?
Providing the person you are copying is making the right trades / profitable trades then yes you don’t need to do anything :) but also remember not to panic and sell if it goes into the red… sometimes there are a few months of red before the profits come :)

I was thinking about building an etoro account based on the lowest risk possible and decent CAGR (5-10%). Do you think it’ll be something people will want or investors are more focused on higher risk portfolios?

I’m so frustrated with EToro! I like the site and I registered in March but I am still waiting for verification! My virtual account is $6000 in profit but EToro are now saying they won’t answer customer service tickets unless you’ve deposited as a new customer. Here lies the problem - the deposit page just returns you to the verification page and EToro won’t answer my verification question unless I’ve deposited 🤷♀️ So utterly frustrating 😟 I have now opened an account with another broker even tho I prefer EToro’s site 🙄

Since your recommendation for index founds am looking for options a platform that enables people like me outside US to invest. So far the options picked requires a banking account, citizenship o social security ID in other words demonstrate that you are legally enabled in US. This limits my option to no mainstream apps or higher cost options.
This can be a great opportunity to educate your audience outside US.
When you copy the person, you open the positions at the actual price (which is not always a good price) VS the dip in price s/he bought a while ago. So, don't get your hopes high people, this feature is not that profitable
Yeah this isn’t exactly hidden lol. Some traders say to copy open trades and some say not to.. if they have a long term strategy then copying open trades is fine. If they open and close often then you wouldn’t copy open trades :)

Hi Mr Syed. A national bank is not a place a private person can put their money. Secondly the interest rate of The National Bank of Pakistan is currently around 5 percent per year. Best.

This firm, even though it is Irish which I am is a pile of crap, wake up and stop believing comments on back handed bloggers throughout the internet with eToro and all the other big players pay to shut down platforms like Binance. No Commission rubbish talk, IT IS TAKEN IN THE SPREAD, trade on the actual market using a ladder or DOM, the price you offer and sell is the market, not some rubbish offered on these platforms.
