    The headline is not what JJ said.
    He’s speaking about the players around Brown and Tatum. He said “the group potentially reached its ceiling” and he’d look at adjustments to the supporting players.

    Malcolm Brogdon has been a borderline All Star as a Point Guard and is a pretty traditional 18pt 7assist guy, I have felt all year he should be starting and running the offense more. Instead they used him like a 3 and D guy spacing the floor for Brown and Taum with the ball.

      @@lucasphillips2177 The problem is Celtics are not great making threes if it's zone defense. You're right, they choke threes in big moments and unfortunately that's their only option against zone defense.

    • @pomerlain8924
      @pomerlain8924 11 місяців тому +14

      That's their problem. They are too overly reliant on the three-ball to their detriment. They look like world beaters when their threes are going down. But when they aren't falling, they don't seem to know how to adjust and find other ways to generate offense. How many times have we seen their offense grind to a halt because they go cold from three, and they continue to jack up threes hoping to get out of it. Tatum and Brown are not Steph and Klay and never will be.

    Did they forget that Tatum is the star who never gets scrutinized, why is Brown the scapegoat. It took 4 games for Tatum to score a point in the 4th quarter and they lost 3 of them, straight. He played a bad game and also the game plan was to jack up 3 pointers, no plays called to get him in the post or driving. Brown just needs to really work on his handles this off-season, that's his weak area.

    Celtics fans, including myself, overreacted after a very disappointing game last night, so I dont really blame people for the trade talks for JB. He played arguably his worst game of his postseason career, but I give him props for recognizing his failure to lead his team after Tatum went down.
    The one thing that this team hasn’t had with Jaylen and Jayson is something everyone should keep in mind; stability. 3 different head coaches in a span of three seasons, personnel changes especially going from kyrie to kemba and then trading kemba away. Teams that are in the upper echelon of contenders all have some stability with their core roster and head coach (i.e. Denver, Miami, Golden State, and Bucks until this year). It allows teams to build an identity and a culture, and I think thats what Boston has been lacking. Going from last year to this year, Boston didnt change the roster much, so I think Brad Stevens will hopefully decide to keep building what they have instead of blowing it up completely.

      @keith7261 11 місяців тому +1

      @@solido888 yeah I thought Darvin Ham did a good job, unfortunately the Lakers just never were able to have enough time with their roster post-trade deadline to fully jell. AD and Bron both have work to do (assuming Bron doesn’t retire) because their lack of consistent jump shooting this year made their entire offense worse. Every successful team in nba history didnt get to that point by going out and making blockbuster trades and signings in a single offseason. It takes time for these teams to figure things out together.
      Well… unless you’re Golden State with KD, then you can steam roll through everything. But everyone tries to be that next “unstoppable big three” but they all fail for the most part.

      Essentially both teams have the same players as last season give or take a few different players but both teams were pretty much identical to last season’s teams. The only differences were that Boston had a significantly less experienced Coach this season than they had last season…!!!!!
      The Coaching disparity was clearly a huge factor in Miami winning the ECF title. The decision to hire a 34 year old Rookie in Joe Mazulla is a curious one, considering the level of Coaches available at the time of Udoka’s departure… Coaches such as Avery Johnson, Rick Carlisle, Marc Jackson etc… They all could have potentially been hired to replace Ime IF the front office was SERIOUS about trying to win a championship with this core…!!!! 💯🍀🍀🧐🧐

Brown and tatum are similar except I feel like brown is more creative going to the the rim don't trade that away. If tatum doesn't get injured they might be in the finals

    Just because they didnt make it to the finals dont mean something is wrong with the players. I think they need a coach who is strong enough to lead them. I think that team is missing their old coaches leadership. They made it further than most other teams. Nothings wrong with them and they dont have to win everything to be relevant.

      I think the coach is good. First year and he almost crawled them out of a 3-0 hole. but he needs some offensive minded assistants so they dont look so stale and predictable on offense. To me it looks like tatum and brown get motivated to play the usual good defense when the offense is rolling. And they need a pg i think smart became the defacto pg when they traded all their other ones. Smarts still the heart and soul tho

    Tatum and Brown are going through what D-Wade and LeBron went through in Miami in 2011. D-Wade and LeBron were both 1A and they didn't flow offensively because of it and didn't maximize each other to their full capabilities. D-Wade went to LeBron the following year and told him that he would take a beat seat to LeBron and that LeBron is the best player on the team. The offense had to run through LeBron...I still think Jaylen Brown is better than Tatum... but one of them is going to have to take a backset to the other and accept it 💯if this going to work. Fact💯.

      The difference is Wade was a champion and superstar and Tatum is just light skinned and a shot jacking star not superstar who hasn't proved anything yet other than bad 3s and a texterizer and Brown is raw sewage and a turnover machine. Neither Brown nor Tatum has proved anything in almost a decade in the NBA other than stat padding in the regular season and folding in the playoffs. 1-4 in the ECFS. They both are frauds

    I think Celtics need more developing for every player. This year Celtics was mostly about offense and got away from what worked mostly last year was defense they only started picking up defense in the playoffs . I think they need more time to work on things and make no major changes this is there coach first year and honestly he did pretty good considering what he was up against. Now whether Brown need a max contact i don't think he there yet. But might have to bite the bullet and give it to him. I hope he works on a few things if he going to get that money we need him to be that one two punch.

    No way Brown is worth the max. He is raw sewage and plays remedial in big moments and on top of that Tatum is soft as butter. Its time to blow up this team. They keep talking about the 5 eastern conference championships however they are 1-4! Its over they've had 3 different coaches and they are guaranteed to fold in the clutch. Im tired of Jaylen Brown looking remedial after jacking up a terrible shot or turning the ball over and im tired of Tatum finding a way to play as light skinned as possible in big games. Both can go and im not sure both are much better than Brandon Ingram idc about the accolades my eyes say Brandon Ingram is on the same level and I definitely wouldn't pay autistic Jaylen Brown 60 million a year after folding to an 8th seed at home. He was mediocre with the box haircut and he's just as mediocre after the haircut. Both can go. I'd try to get CJ MCCOLLUM, Ingram or Zion for half of what Brown wants. Id easily take Cj and Ingram for Brown and a pick. This is the Washington Wizards 2.0 the last decade or a half pick the era. Either you pick the John Wall 🧱 Bradley Beal era or the Gilbert Arenas, Antwan Jamison/Larry Hughes era, this team is those teams at best with the addition of Marcus " Not So Smart". This team is walking turnover from top down. I think any star alongside Tatum maybe Lillard or maybe a combo somehow of maybe Brandon Ingram and McCollum or just maybe KD and Tatum is enough
